all theses great stars seemed to enjoy themselves in a good atmosphere of courtesy and kindness and were not only promoting pictures or records maybe it was that era but all that
And she's still alive, too! Wikipedia says she's 90 years old. Has anybody noticed how a lot of the old timey stars have lived very long lives? Many of them lived into their very late 80s or even late 90s, like Milton Berle, George Burns, Bob Hope, Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, Esther Williams, Jane Wyman, Mickey Rooney (who is still alive), Buddy Ebsen, Eddie Albert, Arlene Francis, and many more.
What a Doll! Esther Williams... It seems like she is a lot of fun. Great personality. Poor Martin Gable looks left out at the end. He should have fought for some lap time. I'm sure Mrs. Gable would have understood. She was sitting right there.
Esther would have been on the US Olympic team in 1940, but the games were cancelled for the duration of the war. MGM was so eager to sign her up that they had Clark Gable do the screen test with her. How could she say no after that?
According to Lucille Ball, Esther was very funny off-screen. I think the quote was ... "Esther Williams thought funny, she should have made comedies".
Esther Williams truly a great beauty ,she was just deliciously sexy here and Bennett must have been squirming lol. The only other time i've seen Bennett that anxious is when Anita Ekberg came on... he had to get out a hankie and wipe the sweat off his forehead lol.
I can't make a decision -- I think all of the Williams mystery guest spots are great and of course, she identified one of the contestants in WML in Hollywood.
Esther and Bennett. Speechless. She's a good sport along with being luscious and talented. What made live TV great.
@weatdamal I'd say Cerf was the luckiest man in the World at that instance, Williams was built like a brick shit-house and had the personality of joyful Angel ... a combo that just can't be beat. The only sad thing is she married a devil in that scoundrel Fernando Lamas a real nasty and vile jerk. We were robbed of seeing more of her awesome talent because she quit her career for that selfish bastard.
@Etnalleb Just curious (I'm not asking to argue, by the way, fancy meeting you here fellow lanza fan) but I know next to nothing about him... what did Lamas do that was so bad? Also, forgive my ignorance, but what is a brick s**t-house? seems to me a more delicate term could be used in the area of a lovely lady like that..... o_O
@ShawDAMAN I left a reply on your channel regarding Fernando Lamas . He cut Esther's career short for his own personal gratifications . The term Brick-S*it-house
is a reference to a woman who is remarkably , incredibly endowed and not many could
compete with Esther as she was in a league of her own.
@ShawDAMAN Your welcome, and as you know this past Jan 31st would have
been Lanza's 91st B-day, can't believe he's been gone 54years. As for Esther you know
she's still alive and well and Yes still swimming at 89years old !! Another piece of trivia
Esther was offered the role of Mrs.Rosen in the Poseidon Adventure which she would have been great but Lamas made her turn it down and the role went to Shelly Winters.
@Etnalleb Lol. In a way I suppose you can't blame him for wanting to keep her close by bwaha. Yes glad to hear she's still kicking. This was a great show, I've watched practically every bit on youtube. THey should put the whole series on DVD or something.
@ShawDAMAN LMAO!! I'm all for that!!! rather than have her cook after a day at the studio pool I'd trot her off to the bedroom as soon as her got in the front door. Yes, thank posters Norbert and crepehanger for posting all these WML clips they are great. Check out the Yul Brenner one ,that is Arlene's classic moment and Brenners best.
She's so darn pretty. I love her sense of humor. Seems so genuinely sweet.

@63utuber It's possible she was referring to Ginger Rogers, who was Bennett Cerf's wife's cousin.

Oh I love this!!! I'm very curious as to who this lady of Bennet's is, as June Allyson was aksed and ruled out by the same question.
Esther Williams is so funny in this!
Also love how Arlene Francis says she sees herself as Mr.Martin Gable; very sweet and very loyal.
Thanks so much for posting this!!
