Hey, not bad at all!!! The brass opening works really well I think! And the conductor makes the appropriate arm movements depending on what effect s/he wants to achieve, it doesn't have to be small OR large ALL the time!!!!
If anything I would say constructively that the percussion is a little too loud, but apart from that nice job!
its not them, its the conductor. they're following the conductors movements.. the conductor is supposed to do small beats, not large waving of the arms. i'm in band myself, and they're not supposed to have a band this big. nor the conductor who likes to wave her arms like a mad woman.
Do not trash this, and do not ask everyone to only say nice things. The trick is finding the mid-point, popularly called constructive criticism. I mean, they're not hopeless but don't tell them that they're better than they actually are.
this is so good you guys blend so well its beautiful im a freshamman in high school and play the flute for band and flute and saxaphone for jazz band you guys all shine evenly in all the songs
legit 5 times the six of my band and we still sound better than this crap I'm 1st trumpet and listening to this makes me realizes how good i actually am
@Miny351 Because I'm trying to find a good band to hear so that I know how to improve our skills as an orchestra. Appearantly it's impossiblbe because we are just that good.
i'm hoping to transfer there :) My school is HORRIBLE! Lets just hope I pass the entrance test! is it easy? Please tell me! I saw all the photos and I would be sooooo glad to be there :)
can u feel the luv tonight is way way too fast, totally ruin the song, but overall really good. abt the gym, caf or aud is really better. even for us, our caf stage is pratically crowded with instrument players, but at least the sound is good. our concert is on april 14 at 7 pm at applewood heights secondary.. and hope our lion king medley sounds just as great :)
why is everyone being so mean on the comments? it's a high school performance, you're not watching a proffessional band - you don't have to watch it, so stop critiscising! i wish i could play in a brass band and sound as remotly tuneful as this lot.
wow, my school band we're only 39, and thats kids from grade 7 to 12. But this could have been better, but I guess it would be hard to become better at using technique rather then just playing with such a large group.
i can't believe how many people are on that stage. from 10 at my school to, what, 100. unbelievable. hardly no dynamic change but that's very difficult to achieve with so many people playing. those flutes were actually bearable considering... trumpets! what the hell! unbelievable. i'll pay to see another performance from the combined band.
you can't tell at all what it actualy sounded like because the camera's microphone sucked, if you were at the performance it probably would have sounded much better and you would hear the dynamic contrast much better
this is definitely the best lion king i have heard yet. my band is playing this piece and i have been listening to other pieces to get a feel for it. even though hakuna matata is omitted, the talent makes up for it. kudos to you!
i love the intro. but percussion seems to overpower the winds. and yall need more energy when u play. u should have just as much energy as the director. and she has TONS of it. keep working
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Sorry guys but holy cow you sped up way too much at "Be prepared". Have you ever heard the original. Oh my... My Conductor would be ashamed of you guys. Play it by ear sometimes is better than creating your own tempo. Check out the lion king medly video with the people with white shirts they played it almost perfect. But this band played this song way way way too fast. Its a slow and easy going song.
Hey we are playing a piece almost just like this. Only we have hakuna matata between be prepared and can you feel the love tonight. I play trumpet. Great job! Our band is nowhere near that big lol, but we still sound great, not to brag.
What difference does it make? You can call it whatever you want... An orchestra is a group of musicians playing together, and this clearly is that. call it wind band or orchestra, it still is the same thing...
Well, in fact, people believe that band is somewhat more associated with popular culture and orchestra is more associated with high culture. I don't understand why but they seem to see it this way.
Cool, thought I wont be listening to this ever again! Its different when you are watching it, cause I was the flautist at the end of the 2nd row of flutes lol.
Great job! That conductor must have worked VERY hard to get them to play this well together!! That's a big school band! KUDOS!

Sound's ok, I play this with my band, only a few points.
1.All at the wrong tempo, much too fast slow it down a bit.
2.percussion far far too loud , can't hear the other parts clearly
3.Conducted to fast, especially at 2:25 the lead in.
4.Then in "be prepared" you're all racing slow down.
5.Also at 06:07 end part to fast.
Apart from that all good, I know hard it is my conductor would stop at every little thing and pretty soon people would start to walk out the room.
mick5474 3 years ago
