Spek needs to be wearing a big logo on his back "Horizon Hobby". The general motors of rc tx's. Throw in JR also. It no longer stands for Japan Robotics.
I have almost 2500 flights with my trex450 & 500. Only had to bind to Rx ONCE! Never had a single brownout/signal loss problem. Despite both heli's are belt driven with tremendous static voltage generated. Rc heli's are lethal and deadly I can't tolerate less than absolute/reliable control.
@jammyhires If you have a fleet of 10 models maybe it's good, but here's what i don't like about model match. I want seperate tx models for setting up, spin testing, and flying my rchelicopter. I need to rebind each time with Spektrum. Don't need that with Futaba. I only control one or two rc helicopters with same tx. I follow same routine when turning on my tx to avoid wrong model mistakes.
I got both brands of radios, and both works pretty good. But the Model Match feature of the Spektrum has saved my helicopters a lot of times already from crashes caused by accidentally using the wrong model memory.
Futaba were one year late off the mark for 2.4 GHZ products and now are doing anything to capture that lost market. I'm sure Spektrum/JR will have something to say about this.
@Trumpet20 I think you're right, Futaba released the 2.4 after spektrum, the problem is that spektrum released their system before they were ready , all the satellites that spektrum need to work "right" is just an after thought to fix a problem, and from what I understand they are working on a system to get rid of those "satellites" I almost lost a 40% to a "brownout" and it could have been worse, that was enough for me
@Trumpet20 Yeah, maybe because they wanted to release a reliable system, rather than rush a less than ideal one out, and have to deal with problems. Same with Airtronics. First doesn't always mean best...
@GliderPilotRR This is true. Spektrum released DSM version first. Then later revised to DSM 2 version afterwards. Early purchasers of the tx and rx for DSM got screwed.
E V E R Y companty does 2.4 now. Hitec, Jr, airtronics, GWS, Multiplex, even e-sky. as well as 3rd party companies. its becoming as convenient as bluetooth.
Great to see Futaba and Hobbico setting the record straight. I'm sure they had a blast putting this together. No matter what club I visit, more of the hackers fly Spektrum, and most of the more accomplished pilots fly Futaba. Certainly having better equipment (Futaba) doesn't make a pilot better, but why would an accomplished pilot want anything but the best.
LOL! Funny indeed... but we all know both Spektrum AND FASST are BOTH reliable and very well built and diffused technologies. Some say Spek is better.. some say FASST is better.. but both have strong and weak points. You just have to choose which one fits your needs better.
Since 2.4 transmissions are strictly line of sight doesn't it make sense to have a satellite receiver that will take over in case a part of the airplane is blocking the transmitter's signal?
spektrum, on word = brownout. Its been proven and many have lost thousands upon thousand of dollars due to this. Dont beleive ,em just search hear on youtube for JR/Spectrum brownout.
same here. I was at my field yesterday and one of the guys that comes out with his 35% plane was showing how he had like 5 receivers in his plane, and how they work. He even brought up the brown out, as gassernut commented above. But he still used it. But then , another guy with a 35% plane next to him was using Futaba fast...and there was so much less wiring, and only two antennas. lol.
Futaba stock 6EX from the FM days: tested to have 3 kM range. 2.4 version: 2.6 kM.
Spektrum/JR don't even come close at 1.5 kM. Tested in North America with full power on all radios.. Cheers.

Any suggestions?

LOL and how could Spektrum possibly be "fasster", with all those long wires
curiously, it is, at least in my measurements (DX7/DX7SE vs. 7C).
Actually I like wires, sort of, because they allow me to put stuff where -I- want it.

You will not believe how many people believe that more antennas means better perception gueranteed.

Must be Spektrum is a serious problem for Futaba, if they removed module systems from their radios. And now this. LOL !

The difference is that Spektrum launched the product before it was ready (remember, park flier only at the begining).
Then they come up with patches like satellite receivers IT IS PATCH WORK
