Over 50,000,000 dead and growing by 2,000,000 a year. Her legacy lives on! Today DDT has been labled HARMLESS but the eco nazis throw a legal fit every time we prove their dear founder a fraud.

Meanwhile the new scientist has reported that DDT exposure does effect humans. It causes premature births and is estimated to have caused as many as 15% of the infant deaths before it was banned in the US.

I believe the doctor who drank DDT was never pregnant.

OF course whether DDT's is harmless to humans is a canard since how bright is it to use a chemical that may not affect us directly but kills almost every living thing around us?

DDt is less lethal to humans. It's not easily absorbed into the skin. (but does stay in fat if ingested)

HOWEVER it is incredibly lethal to fish & other life forms. It's effects on birds is well documented.

Just as important, a group that it is decreasingly lethal to is insects. Over exposure leads to a vicious cycle of resistance/more ddt needed. So over use makes pesticides in general useless, no matter the short term benefits.

That was Carson's point which so many seem to have misse

DDT saved at least 80,000,000 lives. I'm an agronomist and I live in Brazil. Rachel Carson was an eugenist. Ecology is just a another name for eugenics.

how can rachel carson have more blood on her hands than HITLER. He systematically killed more 6 million people. DDT may not be harmful to humans but it is harmful enough for wildlife. Rachel Carson saved hundreds of wild animals from their exposure to our harmful chemicals.

I really doubt this was the best defense of malaria. the wild birds that DDT killed is though. let nature keep its self in check. the human race has more blood on its hands than Hitler.

If you think she was a crackpot for helping to ban DDT -- then try adding some to your food and water every day and eating/drinking it. You can get it almost undiminished in concentration from any old orchard or farm soil. Let us know how long you last.
