People nowadays at Marshall thinks that people will but their product because they are Marshall. Well, but normal people buy good reasonably priced products..
marshalls ARE the best in my opinion, unless your talking solid state/ mg. honestly though, i wouldn't let the blackstar stuff go to your head. marshall knows what they're doing, they're pioneers with amps. most people that i know who complain about marshall are people who wont spend the money and purposely avoid them. try it for yourself before you jump to conclusions
Ive got a Randall RM 100 and RM 20 hat lets me slot in different preamp (x2 12ax-7) modules designed by bruce egnater. I can slot in a plexi, blackface a vox etc. All midi, 2 loops whatever power tubes you want AND you can bias it yourself. I reckon they are the ultimate for flexability and recording. Haven't used my boogie for ages. Marshall are always gonna be the classic they are.....
marshall is losing their mojo, man! they should be more about sound and quality, like they were in the 60's......these days they're just thinkin' how to make money on their name ( talking about that transistor MG crap they produce)......and they're little bit overpriced
I like this guy, and I've liked Marshalls in the past, but they strike me as just one more big, old, great guitar-gear company that's lost its way. The fact that sound quality wasn't #1 on the little list here is telling, for one thing:S Ah well, may the best company win, right.?. Thanks for posting, as always, Sweetwater!
@yobhsiFehT Blackstar amps exist because Marshall really have lost their way. In my (totally unaffiliated with Blackstar) opinion, Blackstar is what Marshall should be...and that includes pricing.
I sent my Blackstar Studio 20 to my brother because I longed for Mesa Boogie, but I'll get another Blackstar to compliment my Mesa rig one day. Blackstar's tone and build quality are that good, and the speaker emulated output is far more useful than you might imagine.
I'm not sure where I land on Blackstar yet (mostly b/c I've never played one:P:)), but I will definitely agree w/ your praise of speaker-emulated outputs - incredibly handy! Had a Tech 21 Trademark 60 years ago, and it was a thing of beauty.
While big stacks are appropriate in some situations, trying to label having a Marshall stack as a "right of passage" seems to be ignoring the trend towards smaller, more reasonable, more realistic amps for home and studio use.
@lighteningboy That's why there are Mesa Boogies. That's how they came about. Essentially modded Marshalls at the beginning but so much more than that now.
@xxGNR12xx Looks to be a Charvelle equipped with EMGs. Do you need the exact Model? There's probably a dozen other models similar by a dozen other companies.
@xxGNR12xx It appears to be a custom guitar. Go check out Charvel's web site. Honestly though, wouldn't you rather have a similar guitar with features you like because you've played it and not a guitar that some other guy plays? The looks are after all only one tenth of a tenth of the value of a guitar. If it looks cool and sounds like a tin can, of what use is it? Make your own mark. Don't clone yourself after someone else'. Tone is in the hands. Yes it is.
@jrpg0630 The British just make great sounding amps. Marshall, Laney, Orange, Vox. All different tone palette's. I like the way the older Marshall's sound. JCM-800, 2000-DSL, Vintage/Modern. The JVM-410 has as many knobs as my Mesa Roadster Head, takes a 2 year degree to figure out your tone. LOL I even like the Orange TH-30 & it's made overseas.
I have a Marshall DSL. While I love old Marshall's and I think they produce awesome gear but...
You pay way too much for too little. You can get more for less and still made in USA or EU/UK. I love Sweetwater but I feel like you pay for the name then the tone...and the tone is just a repeat.
Marshall needs to get their heads out of their asses. Marshalls are undependable and cheap. He says that they are "bullet proof". Hmmm, that's funny cause I owned a DSL for about 6 months before it ended up in the garbage.
WHAT THE F**K???? So let me get this straight...
An amplifier should be bought because of it's looks?
An amplifier should be bought because it makes you play better.
And an amplifier should be bought because it makes you sound better.
It is very obvious this man is a gear wanker that does not give a living S**T
about the sound an amp can really produce. Your supposed to be the one
who makes the sound from your gear. Not the other way round.

1:Buy a Marshall, Because I'm to boring to represent any other amp company.
2:Your 40 something divorced friends will say, "Dude you are the coolest."
3:It looks great collecting dust, in the corner of your one bedroom apartment.

why are looks listed first and the sound listed second?
Who cares how it looks. I can't see an amp on a recording.
