do you think i could run xubuntu on a intel pentium 3 with 384 mbs or ram,and if so would i have problems finding drivers?

It would work great! Wait for Xubuntu karmic to come out soon and you will never have driver problems. Alot of libraries are already included too. You shouldn't have any problems now though and it's a fast upgrade so do it now!

I have Xubuntu running on an Acer Extensa 710E notebook, Pentium MMX 233 Mhz, 92 Mb RAM & 5 Gb HD. I just plugged-in a PCMCIA wifi card (D-Link) and it works perfectly on my home dsl network. Great project!!!
