Illinois laws suck the only people who have any rights are the two biggest gangs in Chicago - Gang bangers and the Chicago police who are nothing but a bunch of thug assholes like the bangers they shoot the innocent people that disagree with the bullshit they get away with . And ex mayor Daley wants us to be unprotected against both of the biggest bangers in Chicago , when he leaves office and we the tax payers have to pay for his thug cop bangers to protect him they should give up their guns !!

Few years ago one of the state legislators was against changing cw permits to make it some what easier to get them. I caught him in front of a news camera spouting his crap. Along with some gun control people.

I believe this ban should be overturned, Illinois law abiding citizen should be allow to have handguns as well as open carry or at least ccw, then I think crime would be reduced. Look at the other states that have weapons permits like that, they don't have nearly as many violent crimes as Chicago. CPD or other local law enforcement officers can't be everywhere at once at least citizens should be able to protect themselves. If you were a criminal would you mess with someone with a gun?

As a veteran member of the CPD, I’m NOT a fan of Daley. But the truth is, any policy that has a chance of reducing the number of handguns on the street is good policy. The gun lobby is responsible for flooding our communities with handguns. Any idiot could tell you that a reduction in the number of handguns equals a reduction in the incidence of gun violence. Rifles and shotguns have always been legal to own, what more does the NRA want? Handguns are overkill and must be tightly controlled.
