(Sigh) I had a black and tan smooth haired standard dachshund growing up. I never had the chance to say goodbye to her and to this day I am still upset over it.

Wonderful tribute, by the way. When I feel up to it I might post the videos I took of Onyx just a couple months before her untimely passing.

RIP Onyx 1993-2005. Thank you for being such a wonderful dog. I will never forget you, and I hope to see you at the Rainbow Bridge.

I don't understand what happened to them! How come they all only lived four years? Or were you one of those great families who adopt them when they are older to begin with? So sad! Hope you get luckier with your next doxies and they live nice, long, long lives!

My childhood dog Footlong dug under our fence and was hit by a car. Few years later we got Duke and Lisa. Lisa had back complications and had to be put to sleep. Duke lived for 15 years.

i agree with the fellow poster..with proper care and walking Daschunds should live to be over 15! makes me very sad to know that 2 of them only lived 4 years...remember everyone that excersise is KEY for doxxies!

Wonderful video I have just lost my little girl phoebe she was 7 years old unfortunalty had to be put down, due to her back colapsing on her. She is now in a better place. wow two off them had a really short life spand dacshhounds can live to be like 20 with proper care i have one and hes been four like 6 years and hes strong and healthy if they died they died because the got sick from non proper care

my husband had 2 daschunds they were mother and daughter.last year they had to be put to sleep. the mother was 16 yrs old and the other was 14. the 14 yr old had cushings diease. we all miss them. great dogs. thanks for posting.

Footlong was hit by a car when I was little. Lisa and Duke were twins, but Lisa had serious back problems. She eventually became paralyzed. They both just happened to pass around 4 years. Thankfully Duke lived a long and good life.

You made me cry!  I also had Duke dachshund, who died a year ago at age 13. He was all gray like your doggie. I have a 15 year old who probably won't make her 16th, and a 3 year old as well. They get along great with my two doberman pinschers, you should see them all try and play together! Bless you for such a lovely tribute to your beloved pets. Made me cry remembering the lost ones that I have had.

My mom gave him to me for my brithday present. I don't know what i would do without him. I love them both so dearly.

i'm so sorry for your loss. i hav a daschund myself and he's sleepin on the couch right now. i don't know what i'd do without him. he has given us joy amidst the problems i go through, at the end of the day, when i see him, he takes away my stress and sadness. and this goes out to all dogs. now i know why some institution and foundations use dogs to cheer up patients.

i have 2 daschunds, they are both 7, and every day, i think about how sad i will be without them. However, the best thing to do to fill the void is by getting another puppy. You were very lucky to have Duke for 14 years. Im sorry for your losses. Great video.

oh my This video is so sad. I had two dashunds when I was a little girl. I loved them so much. So now that Im an adult I always wanted one. But didn't have enough money to ever go out and get one. But my Aunt and my Cousin made my dream come true and brought me Tucker Rion for christmas 2006. He is beautiful. And I love him very much. He was born Oct.4. I hope you are able to get another dog. They bring so much to life. I love both of mine very much. they are my world!!

i'm crying.... how beautifully sad, what a beautiful dog and song was perfect. i lost 3 in 10 years. i saved 2 that were already passed 5 years old and the dobi i got at 6 weeks was inbred so she died at the age of 3 from cancer. it's totally like losing a baby, so painful. but when they are with us there is not anything more loyal and loving than your dog that love you and will live with you in a hut or a mansion. love and happiness to you.
