Awesome facial expressions beginning at 3:26. He was in a lot of pain, but towards the end mad too. I like the way his belly rose up when the sword was pulled out of his guts with a very authentic moan.

The Battle of Britain was significant in setting back Sea Lion and humbling Goring's Luftwaffe, but it is dwarfed by Stalingrad and other battles in the East, like Kursk. Any qualified historian will tell you that the Bulge was more significant than El Alamein. And even in North Africa. El Alamein didn't dislodge Rommel. Without Patton and those "cowardly" Americans, Rommel would not have been sandwiched in Tunisia.

The main problem with this movie for me was the obvious political correctness that was rampart thrughout it to appeal to the modern movie audience. Don't get me wrong, its a good movie, but too much PC.

Listen folks, this movie is just entertainment, not an authoritative document as to actual events. They wanted to portray Gibson's character as the "good guy" and Issacs' character (the fictional Tavington) as the bad guy (they couldn't use Tarleton as he survived the conflict.) They wanted to paint a very rosy portrait of life in 18thC America to pander to the American audience (who this film was primarily aimed at) to maximise box-office ticket sales. Like "U571", it isn't meant to be factual.
With regards to this film, yes, it's historically inaccurate, made for entertainment - it's certainly not meant to be an actual account of past events.
Hollywood cares little for historical accuracy, just box office revenue.

Midway is probably the most significant battle of the entire Pacific war. Britain was a very important battle, in that it saved Britain from invasion, but Germany was a land power and I believe Stalingrad was of more importance in terms of defeating Germany.

Listen folks, this movie is just entertainment, not an authoritative document as to actual events. They wanted to portray Gibson's character as the "good guy" and Issacs' character (the fictional Tavington) as the bad guy (they couldn't use Tarleton as he survived the conflict.) They wanted to paint a very rosy portrait of life in 18thC America to pander to the American audience (who this film was primarily aimed at) to maximise box-office ticket sales. Like "U571", it isn't meant to be factual.

Sorry but I have read loads of posts on here from Americans clearly stating they watched this film in history lessons, but the animosity stems further than a few retards on YT, your very own President recently tried to turn the BP oil spill into a blatant anti British attack, we had a lot of news coverage over here showing just what you thought of us, bit hard to stomach when British troops had gone to war alongside the US only a few years earlier, we saw the true America in Obama.

I can assure you "The Patriot" is not part of our historical curriculum. Certain uneducated types take these movies as historical fact but they were the one's who failed at school. I was down in Lake Charles, Louisiana during the BP spill and you're correct, it did incite some anti-British sentiment from some but not from everyone who recognized it for what it was, a terrible, tragic incident.
Obama has his own agenda - personally, I believe he'll be out next year.

@PhobosVortex Yeah we did see America change it's tune when they realised how much revenue comes from British tourists, but over the last few years I've seen a basically pro American country in the UK change and Obama spitting in our faces hasn't helped, his sending of the bust of Winston Churchill back to the UK without even informing our government didn't go down to well as it was a token of our two countries alliance in dark days, things have changed this side of the water that's for sure.

It's just the nature of the beast. YT (for whatever reason) is full of hateful comments written by people who should know better. I (like millions of others) have British ancestry and have spent much time with close relatives in England. I am always made to feel quite at home when over there.
I feel that certain threads on YT are little more than trash cans, used to deposit hateful comments in order to incite hostility.
Yes, this whole "my country is better than yours" is puerile.
