  • ignorince is bliss and unlock -Malroy

  • most important album of my life. I mean, i've heard and loved several other records that are better, but none touched and influenced me like this album did.

  • french kiss some french girls!

  • Who cares what they sound like? Just listen to the damn music. If you like it, you like it and if you don't, you don't...

  • CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME THE GUITAR SETUP?

    And what guitar?? please :)

  • Say what you will, this is still a MBV/Placebo ripoff.

  • @rambadibow who cares

  • THIS IS AMAZING

  • Who cares who it sounds like? It's a great song that they wrote. End of story.

  • I took her bloody valentine, it was great.

  • What's with My Bloody Valentine and Smashing Pumpkins comparisons? I think the name "post-nothing" is a reaction against hipster labels of music. It's easy to call this band post-hardcore and compare them to, say, Cap'n Jazz, but I don't think that's what they want.

  • Vancouver part in No Future brought me here

  • This band is amazing! Though they sound like shit live. Just the way it is. But fuck,,I can listen to them forever!

  • Everyone is referring to the "My Bloody Valentine" similarities, while I do hear it, I think it is very subtle. I hear way more similarities to bands such as "Superchunk" and "And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead." With that said, I still believe they achieved greatness with this song and they sound as original as any band can anymore these days.

  • @31makimba definitely hear the And you will know us by the trail of dead in these guys

  • @XistentialX Yes....Finally someone with some sense! I really don't hear My Bloody Valentine at all....My husband worships MBV and he said the same thing....No similarities whatsoever. However, I do agree with the Smashing Pumpkins comparisons as well, but yeah, definitely Trail of Dead....That's the 1st thing I thought.

  • @31makimba The warm distorted guitar sound is a bit Pumpkins-ish, but I don't see any other similarities to be honest.

  • @MrEagleEartwig Yes, the more I hear it, the more I can see the Pumpkins comparison...I have this song on a compilation disc I made so I hear it quite a bit, but I still don't hear the MBV thing...People can't be true fans of MBV and actually think that, but no matter, the song is outrageously good in it's own right.

  • @31makimba what the f**k is a "true fan" of MBV? because I'm a pretty "true" fan and I ACTUALLY hear the similarity.

however, that doesn't change the fact that I think this song is dope of its own accord, not because YouTubers wanna make comparisons to other bands

  • @psarsama1 Let's see, a true fan is someone like my husband who has been listening to MBV for approximately 22 years or so, has been to many of their shows, and owns all their shit. When he listened to this song he said he heard no similarity either. For your information, I despise people who make comparisons with bands because it's impossible to not have a similar sound to someone else. My comment was simply a rebuttal. I love this song. It's in my top 150 Indie tunes for the past decade

  • @31makimba I'm glad you can clarify by asserting your (and your husband's) indie dominance. if only my life were filled with such hipster superiority. maybe then i would be a better person. alas, my life is filled with less pressing concerns than a top 150 indie tunes list.

  • @psarsama1 First of all, you're the one who brought it up to begin with and I wrote nothing to invoke negative remarks from anyone. Don't ever presume to know anything about me because I made an Indie list. Believe me, I'm happily married to my best friend of which I've known for a little more than a decade and we have a perfect child that will be 1 year old on Nov. 5th. You have no idea what my life is filled with. The only thing you were accurate about is our musical dominance and superiority

  • @31makimba

Happy belated b-day to your kid.

  • @Cornflakesss Thanks a lot! He's only 1 so he didn't know what the fuck was going on really, but it was a great b-day nonetheless. I'm sure next year he will appreciate it and enjoy it a lot more. I appreciate the kind remark.

  • im soooo into this song right now its barely legal..... super wicked album too...

  • i like how these guys sound like a dude playing guitar and another guy on the drums, kind of like that other band that sounds like the guy playing guitar and drums, you know what i mean??

  • @elbenhair lol what?

  • i like how these guys sound like a pop vesrion of atdi

  • Try listening to Teen Daze's remix of this.. Chillwave at its best!

  • Respond to this video... these guys effin rock not like the lil beeber fever ish ive been hearing lately

  • better than the teen daze cover

  • best gig ive been to this year at the relentless garage. those guys were awesome

  • <3

  • japandroids sound a lot like this band called japandroids

  • Japandroids sound like a noisier Moneen

  • To me it sounds like Braid as played by Sonic Youth. If you're down for comparisons, which I always am. And also I fucking love the misogyny in this song. "these girls are all bikini kill/we need a ride to bikini island!" Bikini kill as a reference to feminists, who typically aren't known for their stellar good looks. Ironically enough, Kathleen Hannah is probably one of the hottest women in the world.

  • When I hear this song, usually hardcore partying follows.

  • boom! smack! konichiwa, bitches, you just got hit by a JAPANDROID!

  • first time i listen to them, reminded me of early at the drive-in. if it's emo, it' s good emo. then again it's good whatever it is.

  • i feel like a hipster everytime i listen to japandroids. BUT DAMN I'M HAPPY WITH IT!

  • @mariAZNMSK Japandroids aren't really that hipster. they play noise rock which is a form of indie music wich also loosely relates to emo. I feel a little emo every time i listen to this. I wouldn't say that just because they are new and different means that they are hipster like everybody says.

  • This isn't a video.

  • @saidinjest This isn't a comment.

  • Everyone seems to love comparing Japandroids to other bands. I think they sound a little tiny bit like At the Drive-In, except Japandroids make me want to hug my loved ones.

  • Came across them on iTunes, love it!!! Not sure who wrote the blurb on iTunes there's nothing 90s shoegazer about this.

  • these guys are gonna be at bumbershoot this year so everyone knows

  • I don't care - I couldn't resist her. Hey, I'm French. :)

  • I think I have just found my new favourite band...

  • Its only bands like JAPANDROIDS and EARTH CULTURE that really know how to kick ass!!!!

  • They have really good energy live. Personally, I think they're better live than on album.

  • i'm not sure if i like them or not.

  • She had wet hair, say what you will, I don't care, I couldn't resist it

  • it's just 2 ppl, gtr and drums

  • @cmatthews926 Yeah I don't think they put bass in any of their stuff, as far as I know :)

  • did they record without bass?

  • @cmatthews 926they dont have a bassist dummy

  • @lakai958 What a clever observation. My question was not whether they had a bassist, but if they incorporated bass into their RECORDING. You know... like when an artist lays down material on an album? I suggest you actually read next time instead of retorting with unwarranted name-calling. Ass.

  • @cmatthews926

A criticism of unwarranted name calling followed by a middle school-esque?

    Only on the internet.

  • @LivesUnderABridge ...what? lol

  • @cmatthews926

You told lakai not to call you names. You then ended your statement by calling him an "ass."

    /is disappointed

  • @cmatthews926 oh well my name calling was warranted. =)

  • @cmatthews926 Brian runs his guitar through a guitar amp and a bass amp simultaneously to make up for the absence of bass. There's no bass on the album.

  • @RaygunShaun Ah, clever man!

  • French Kiss some some French Girls. Yeah!

  • ya one line ya!

  • GO*

  • They sound like DFA1979 but more powerpop

  • Can you say My Bloody Valentine? They don't sound too bad, however.

  • not really dude. i guess there's a hint of it there. I'd compare them to Japanther if anyone.

  • can you say "doesn't sound like MY Bloody Valentine at all"?

  • @mscme1: It's inevitable that some will automatically feel the need to draw comparisons simply from hearing the fuzzy/noise-y guitars. But I agree, there aren't any similarities that I hear.

  • @mscme1 actually, they sound more like early Smashing Pumpkins (minus Corgan's whiny voice)

  • @dirtystephennwilson this sounds like a feeder song....its awful ...urgh

  • @dirtystephennwilson Yes! The opening guitar riff on this song is total Mayonaise.

  • What band like this isn't influanced by My Bloody Valentine.

Atleast this shows they've got great taste in music, eh?

  • you suck

  • im glad i watched late night with jimmy fallon when these guys were on, they were incredible!!

  • sounds very "Superchunk" I hope this music is making a big comeback. Are they going to be in the Vancouver area during the Olympics?

  • what a awsome as song!!!!!its so awsome it makes me mad...

  • i agree with you actionhourglass...simple fun dont give a crap music...im down with it....

  • Ahh, I like this. It's not really 'genius' or 'original' or anything, but I can't stop listening to it! The sort of music you hear at a local gig - simple, fun stuff.

  • deadman is gay this songs awesome thooooooo

  • I 'm already addicted to this song ... as well the lyrics.. and I'm a girrrrl

  • It's brilliant! I just wish I could hear the vocals a bit clearer!

  • awesome !!

  • oh my God, this song is amazing

  • what the hell are they saying? i can't hear them over the music

  • the lyrics is:

    she had wet hair

    say what you will

    i don't care

    I couldn't resist it

these girls are all bikini kill

we need a ride to bikini island

    we run the gauntlet

    must get to france

so we can french kiss some french girls
