  • i have this game

    still fun

  • Hurry up with the gameplay.

Had to wait 2min before you started.

  • I freaking loved this game!

  • I played this game so much when i was just 9 years old :D

  • epic

  • I remember this on the demo, was pretty fun. I was only like 9 at the time.

  • i remember playing the demo aswell and it was a game in itself. i got to level 14 and died. how many levels are there in the demo, let alone the game lol

  • This one sure was a stinker... I don't know how this got rewarded yet there were many way better and less annoying Yaroze games than this...

  • I wouldn't quite call it a stinker, it's certainly very polished and in terms of graphics, is very professional.

A 'true' strafe function or a button to freeze character position while firing would've made it significantly better to play. Being killed by the shrapnel of ghosts is a bit annoying, too.

  • You don't get killed by 'the shrapnel of ghosts'. ;-)

  • I do apologise!

What is it then, that kills me in this video at 3:25?

  • I thought it was a bug for a moment then I remembered you can press the square button to run, but it uses up energy. You just happened to run out of energy at that point.

  • Bugger me, for all these years I've been wrongly accusing the game of unfair game overs!

  • @ACRetro It was a coin that looks like a hand that killed you...

...or you just walked back to the circle and aborted the mission.

  • @Supertuottaja Äläs nyt, tämä on miun suosikki net-yaroze peleistä

  • This was a brilliant game I used to spend literally hours playing it, also there was a great yaroze game called haunted maze

  • and not to forget that really scary game called clone

  • Did anyone else also used to get the "mission aborted" message up all the time, for no apparent reason?

  • yea but i found out that it was becoz i was runnin...it lowers ur life if i rememba correctly

  • I remember when I had this on demo. That demo was the best it had like 20 games on it.

  • I remember this game I've played blitter boy on demo disc when I had 12 and 14 year old

  • this, rock's and gems and time slip were the best Net yaroze's in my opinion

  • I remember having this n a demo as a kid.

  • @computerman1081 omg me and my sister did too and it was on a demo! how did you get your demo? we miss it and want it back!

  • I remember playing this. Had quite a lot of fun with it :-)

  • I rember playing this as a kid great fun

  • Lol me2 xD

  • BTW, it's 'Monster Mall' not 'Monster Hall'. admittedly the funky font does make it kinda difficult to read. :-)

  • Thanks for the correction. For a decade I've been thinking it was 'hall'!

  • Probably my favourite Net Yaroze game. Incredible quality considering it was made by only one person!

  • How many levels (mission mode) are there? I only got up to level 4. Or did I get up to level 5? I don't remember stuff.

  • looooooooooooooool rainbow death

  • This was a 1 of my favourite net yaroze games this, gravitation, psychon (the best!!!), rocks 'n' gems, hover car racing, terra incognita, love the retro homebrew :O)

  • ure shitting me i used to hace this haaa i swear he used to shoot multi coloured balls?

  • WOO HOO DADA

  • i got this game on my winter releases 98 demo, is it rare?

  • i also have it on the winter releases 98 demo, did you get it with spyro?, but yeah i think the version on the demo disk is rare because it is the first un-edeted version without any extra backgrounds

  • Good old times :)

I have played this game when i didn't had any full-version games :D

  • Hmm. If there was a cutdown version, it was nothing to do with me. The source code was freely available though, so maybe Sony did a different version, for some reason. Would have been nice if they'd bother to ask me first, though.

And as I mentioned before, there was no music in the original version, anyway. :)

  • The version on the Australian '98 Winter Demo disk is different, it doesn't have a menu.. or music (and the level floor doesn't change)

  • It'd be great if you could get a video of it uploaded!

  • I'll try to when I get my emulator working :P

  • Excellent, I look forward to that.

Another method, if you've got a DVD recorder, is to record the game being played and rip the video to an AVI/MPEG format, which can be uploaded here.

Saves messing about with emulators, I find.

  • i remember this game, i was rubbish on it though .

  • Not at all. I'm flattered the game's been posted on YouTube. :-)

  • Heh - nice to see my old game here. I can't believe it's been 10 years since I wrote it.

BTW, sorry there's no music in it and the some of the sound effects are a bit weird. I'm not so good with sound stuff. ;)

  • Hi Chris, good to see (read?) you on here! Thanks for Blitter Boy, you've got quite a few fans!

Hope you don't mind me using the game for this video.

  • awesome this game is :)

  • Memories

  • so true

  • this little game was brilliant in its time :)

  • i loved all these games, i always rushed to get the demos just for these games. brings back old memories

  • I loved the net yaroze games, I only go the demos so I could play them XD

  • They were the highlight of the discs for me, too.

  • how do i get this game?

    on ps1?? the full game?

  • wtf I remember having an official demo disk with Blitter Boy on it aahahah

  • Yes...

  • Demo Disc 42...the legend.

  • "Beat"

    "This"

    I loved that :D

  • Aye was an AWESOME demo disc. Had MGS demo + loads of amazing Yaroze games. Quite enjoyed Terra Incognita, though always got stuck at one point on it. The fighter pilot game was also fun, especially the 2 player mode ;-)

  • OMG mate this game was sooo good. That demo disc had some great games on - liek the 3d pacman, pshyco? Fucking A , good upload

  • Best net yaroze game , equal to Super Bub.

  • i have fond memories of this game

  • Me too, although it would've been a lot more fun if the strafe + fire control actually worked.

I believe this game won some sort of Yaroze development award.

  • It did work but not quite how you'd expect. When you hold R2, Blitter Boy fires slightly from side to side rather than straight forward
