I have studied Socialism for years. as you probably know, you MUST have socialism in order to have communism, but you do NOT have to have communism in order to be socialist. socialism itself is not a bad system, and with a properly educated population, it could very well be better than capitalism. it makes a country more unified and also puts into practice the ultimate definition of equality (which if i am not mistaken is in the states' constitution). it does this but also makes room for democracy at the same time.

now that i have established that, obama is certainly not a socialist by any reasonable definition of the word. if you're referring to his healthcare proposal, he is simply offering another public OPTION. he is not proposing to abolish the private health insurance sector and replace it with public healthcare, which would be the true meaning of socialism. so all this hate-mongering out there (especially the media) does not help the debate. obama is not a socialist, case closed.

I'm no liberal, as I'm pro-death in all shape and form (over-population would be an embarrassing way for humanity to go), but the Iraqi war was one of military sustainment (and corporate gains for Bush's buddies).
CIA could have easily taken out Saddam, since they put him there in the 1st place. Pisses me off that they didn't take care of their own mess.
Obama is in no way a saviour. He most likely won't get everything he promised done, but he should set us in the right direction.

There was nothing wrong with what the cop did. All he did was falsely accuse a black guy of breaking into his own home. In fact, the black professor, if he is a professor at all, is the racist one for accusing the cop of being racist and yelling at him. The arrest was very appropriate.

In reality, the officer should not have arrested the professor. He did nothing illegal and there was no reason to cuff him and throw him in jail. But the claim that the officer is racist is ridicules. Asking for an ID is completely appropriate and Gate's yelling was extremely rude.
