I was born and bred in the Potteries and moved away in 98 to live in the south. I love being a Stokie and when I return on visits I am always astounded by how friendly everyone is, unlike the south. In the Potteries everyone is so open and trusting. When you leave S-O-T and come back, you realise just how wonderful, warm and friendly the people are. I always feel all warm and fuzzy inside when I come back home and see all the smiley faces and feel the community spirit wrap around me like a hug.
@TheShmoo123 my gran was from the Potteries and moved to the isle of Skye she always talked fondly of stoke-on-trent its people and how friendly they are.
@TheShmoo123 I'm a stokie too & have lived in London & the USA but have now returned to S-on-T, it's the humour I missed while away, stokie peeps make me smile :)
Yes, come on, as a student you should know there's 6 towns!! Having said that, half the officials at the civic centre still get it wrong; in they trot from Manchester and the like to do there 9 to 5, then bu**er off back "home" - the extent to which they care for Stoke-on-Trent extends to how many boxes they can tick on their job description
i live in stoke on trent and yh there are some people that let the city down but some are trying to get on with live and them offensive comments that some of you are saying is very harmfull to me and i am shocked that you dont know the half that the community in stoke are doing ot make it a better place. so if you are going to "slag" of stoke then think again because i know that people are trying to get on with their life.
stoke, is a monumental dump and the vast majority of the community have an IQ below 80, people are rough, ignorant, racist, stupid, aggressive, anal, rude, obnoxious, offensive, abrasive, boring, self-destructive and when your around them (as a whole 'in general') make you feel like you do not belong unless your all of the above.
@judstain88 well you are both right and wrong i am a stokie my self there are alot of the kind of people you described but that is mostly the older crowd from what i have seen from going to most of the collages in the area is that the younger group are far more open minded
anyone who comments that stoke -on-trent s full of "grassing bastards"must be up to no good and must be involved in pikey underclass criminality.I am a evil neo nazi waiting to rise up and smash down the labour scum and the tory twats!1888.
Another good posting Melissa. I happen to know some of the people featured in the video and can tell you they are the very warm and very likeable people that, even today. Stoke is built on.
Are we on about the same Stoke that I live in? This video stupid.

Re the endpiece of the commentary. I reckon Stoke regards itself as more North West than Midlands? What say you?

Sense of community? Well nothing bonds people like a casual sense of racism.

No wonder there's a sense of community, no one can afford to leave and outsiders don't want to come here!
PS, the women are rough.
