The stock rally cars from Subaru and Mitsubishi already have allot of rally pedigree. Just shows you how much they tune the shit out of the rally cars from the stock.
@b4igetu WRC cars aren't tuned production cars. Many share very little with their road going brethren. They are built ground up as a WRC car (which explains for instance why there is no 4WD Ford Focus production car)
@RECUTMedia very true, the WRC cars are limited in the amount of bhp their allowed to have. But a stock car with an engine putting out 1000bph is still a long shot from a wrc car, the subaru alone cost 1million in development, im not sure how much the actual car cost to build.
The Mitsubishi guy must have clicked the wrong vid.... Then he got so enraged he just had to click on the dislike button, No matter how hard his dick was.....
Subara is as commen as a hydrogen is abundant.. A shame because they're really good cars, just sooo boring, so common, so Essex. GOD THAT UNEQUAL MONIFOLD IS THE MOST PLAYED SOUND EVERRRR. Bald, generaly large, middle age first choice motoring.
@mattheep12 Lol where the hell do you live? I've never seen a fat bald guy in a Subaru. They are generally in a Charger R/T, or V6 Mustang, Camaro, Challenger.
I have a question. I'm new to AWD, got my STI few days ago, what exactly do I have to do with clutch/brake/e-brake/gas pedals to make a turn like it's shown at 0:50-0:57s?
@LightSpeedOne Thats where your totally wrong. We have replaced many a smashed diff at our garage due to people who dont no how to drive correctly......You have your views and opinion i have mine.
@scoobymarc2009 04 and 05 opens DCCD not rear diff, my mistake above...
Quote: From IWSTI forum
The 04 and 05 STi DCCD's are the only ones that can go completely open when you hit the e-brake. 06+ STI's all have a mechanical LSD for the center in addition to the electronic locking, and its only the electronics that unlock with the e-brake. So there is the potential for damage and/or increased wear on the center diff doing e-brake turns for the 06+ model years.
You don't need to handbrake in an awd with good diffs. Like with any layout, you're going to want to heel-toe downshift while approaching the corner. Then just turn in hard with weight on the nose. If you find that you're still understeering you can bias more power to the rear by left-foot braking.
@jarekdsm Hard braking into the corner, set up a slight flick in the opposite direction, clutch in, slight yank on the handbrake, counter steer, and flat out.
Chassis is also wider and beefed up than your regular STi. And I read Ithat the semi automatic hydro-electric gear bos and tranmission is much more complicated then a 6-speed sequential transmission. But then again all the WRC cars have them.
well think about it they still use road legal tires , that are also available to random ppl , and the restiction still makes the cars 1250 kilos , and resticted to 300 horsepower , knowing that it s still incredible how fast the can get it to go !
Seriously, the major differences are: suspension, gear ratios, and weight.
You could see how much stiffer (more controlled) the WRC car is around that 180 degree turn... the acceleration is also faster cause of the lower weight and shorter gear ratios.
i dont think an sti is just a road car. trust me i own an 04 and i tell u i can murk shit on dirt, tarmac, gravel, snow just like on rally tracks. it's a rally car + sports car + daily driver (on the ROAD, so yes also a road car.)
the wrc car has 2liter 300 hp engine but but its all in the torque wich is 568 nm more than a supercar has and almost twice the sti's wich is 300nm but the wrc impreza has shorter grear ratios and a lower top speed wich is normally 250km/h a sti can reach 270km/h in a long long straight line
Well thats wrong. The STI has 300lb/ft of torque...that translates much higher in NM. I dont know how close it comes to 568nm, but its alot more than 300nm.
Ijustmadethisup4 , the road car is no match for the rally car. Even the 2009 Impreza STI only has 407nm of torque. The customer spec WRC Subaru from Prodrive for 2009 comes with 650nm of torque. This would mean the official Subaru team rally car probably has more than 700nm and also weighs 1230kg and not around 1400kg like a the road version. This film look like its from 2003 and the road car is the JDM version with probably around 350nm of torque I would say.
i think they use turbo restrictors, to limit the power to 300 hp, thats why rallycross cars (that dont have restrictors) have around 550-650 hp or even more and alot of torque (around 650 nm in normal rallycross cars)
The wrc cars have restrictors in the inlet. The max BHP is 300. The torque however is way higher than the road going version. Weight makes a huge difference too.
well wrc is seriously more powerfull than sti... they say that wrc has only 300hp but i think they have more like 400+hp when in rally. that makes a difference too. and sti is desinged to be a road car with some luxury compared to rally car :D so it weights more too
i actually met one of subaru rallys car techs he said he couldnt say exactly how much HP it had, but he said it had an insane amount of torque. so its probably 300hp but like 450-500ftlbs of torque.
i love the shifting at 8k lol

@b4igetu WRC cars arnt tuned from the stock. Other than the actual shape of the car, there is virtually nothing in common between them.

@TheEternalUniverse
although you can easily make a faster car than a WRX car out of a stock car as WRX cars are only like 450hp - 530hp
and any stock car with a turbo can easily be turned into atleast 450hp
