I like Mikael Akerfeldt's vocals, some of the few growlers I enjoy. The thing I enjoy about him is that he is wise when he uses the growls and when he does not. Opeth's music varies so much stylistically that he only growls when the music calls for it. Prog Metal offers so much variety.

@alltheworldsastage Mikael prob has the best growls around...they don't seem forced, and I like their almost narrative pace/sound. Opeth is so awesome...I think people that aren't even into Death Metal can enjoy them, because they cover so much musical ground, and switch it up from rock/prog/acoustic/death metal and etc in almost all songs. Can't wait for them to make another album...they're awesome live, aswell.

I also know what you mean on the metal/hardcore/deathmetal type vocals. I also have been in that lead man type vocal position and unless you keep at it and practice your instrument will eventually not be as strong as it once was. Me and my band have kinda fell apart, but I make sure to keep at it and I still play shows with people around my area that need someone to fill in or even some of the bands that have everything all ready, but just need vocals.
