@TwatsPartyHouse96 in the alien anthology pack ridley scott the writer and diretor of the original alien had hinted that the ship was a bomber. A bomber that belonged to a race known as the space jockeys the space jockeys have been mentioned and hinted at several times but never fully explained thats why in the first of the two alien prequels coming out over the next while the plot is rumoured to be about the space jockeys and how they used aliens to terraform planets but we`ll wait and see.
