@MademoiselleKabouter He is talking about how he wants to find love, but keeps being persuaded not to, which is why he is holding bale dances, to find the perfect one, but the thing holding him back (I think it is drugs, or something else) keeps holding him back, the pianist (Adam Anderson) is his love, his heart, and the women next to him keeps him from making the right choice. The old women in the beginning represents the start of his struggle to find love.

I think there's a general idea of looking for a perfect match (which we dream up in our heads), and spending so long trying to find it, that in the end you don't know what love really is, and this fantasy & the "search" almost feel better than the relationship itself. And choosing dancers is like a metaphor for this "quest".... :))
