it was US negligence, as shotty boeing work caused it all, but refusing american help (as reported on wikipedia) is ridiculous. their rescue teams were incompetent. japanese have too much pride to act swiftly. pride comes before practical safety. same thing with fukashima and responders and reporting accuracy after march 11th..
That is terrible that they didn't get there until 14 hours later! I'm glad the off-duty flight attendent survived though. She wasn't obligated to help people but she did. I'm also glad that two of the other survivers were a parent and child. They were very lucky that they both survived.
The whole american force is like a dog in the leash of the government,, and they are such pussies to save people just cause they weren't directed to do so... FUCK AMERICA!!
It is not my intention to disparage Japan as a whole, but just its bureaucracy. Apparently they had not learnt a SINGLE THING from this and basically did the same thing after the earthquake and tsunami. Rescue vehicles were stopped at checkpoints because they didn't have the proper permit, donated food was going bad in storage because the policy was "if there isn't enough to go around to everyone, then no one gets any." Very curious.
Japan thinks they know everything and not letting other people onto the crash site. Work with people not against them. This is why I din't donate money for the Japan Earthquake because Japan can sort out its own problems
OK, flight 123 took off at 18:12, flew for 12 minutes, then without warning, lost almost all control due to an explosion. The crew fought to regain control for 32 minutes but still suffered a catastrophic landing at 18:56. During August, the sun sets at 18:35 and rises at 04:57, making it "too dark" for just 10 hours. Yet, rescuers still don't arrive for 14 hours!! We know they'd come most of the way the night before, so how did they account for the remaining 6 hours?! How does this happen?!
This is shocking! The first helicopter that flew over shouldn't have worried about the fire or the trees there were children that died painfully on This plane ....may the people that ignored them burn in hell and feel the same pain the passengers did that night
The real trick here would be to jump out of the plane just before it hits the ground. Instead of fighting to keep the airplane in the air, the pilots should have tried to make it crash smoothly.
Why did the choppers stop over to help! Many died from the cold. Recuse teams should have went quickly to help- it is their duty - 24hours, and day any year!
Good old japanise! Suspend a rescue oporation why don't u!!! Bloody idiots those helicopter pilots were... Why do the British pronounce debris (duh-bree) as "DAY-BREE"? They also say "SHED-JOOL" for schedule (sked-jewel). That's why they lost both wars to us because they couldn't understand what they hell they were saying to each other.
@kevjay777 Because it comes from a French word and "day-bree" is how it's SUPPOSED to be pronounced, you illiterate ass. Why don't you check a dictionary before you mouth off? I'm sure you can find somebody to read it to you -- slowly -- so you can comprehend it.
For the record, I'm not British. But it's extremely easy to tell what you are.

@MrsNorris55 My my, enjoying your hormonal imbalance Mrs. Norris?
You're in no position to assume the high road. Although it is technically acceptable to end a sentence with a preposition as you did ( ... to you too.), still, it just doesn't flow very well.
For example, which flows better?:
"Mrs. Norris, you're butt ugly outside, and on the inside too.".
or
"Damn woman I don't what's worse, your dog-butted face or your bitchy-ass, Roseanne Barr personality.".
1:50 - Incorrect. The C-5 Galaxy and Antonov an-225 both trump the 747 for size of jet aircraft. 747 was the biggest passenger jet, but not the biggest jet period.
At least rescue operations seem to be a "First come, first save" basis nowadays. This flight saw to that.
This rescue operation is just so sad. After this lesson, we still managed to delay rescue operation during Katrina. But both Japanese and US rescues finally responded very quickly and worked together for 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
This is so hard to watch. Many passengers should have survived! I'm not in the position to judge but, conflicts should be set aside for a while when people's lives are at stake. Hope the mistakes won't happen again.
The Japanese have always been hostile to the Americans, ever since America dropped the Atomic/Nuclear bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, killing over 280 thousand people. (Sarcasm appearing) I wonder why they're hostile? ANY the rescue attempt was poorly done, about 500 and over were on that flight, and they decided to wait until f*ching tomorrow, because they think no one survive; what the hell? Those poor passengers and crew, and the families of them, and Japanese Airlines.
@NightCrimson I am not trying to be mean here so don't this the wrong way. I think they hostile towards the US before the atomic bombs dated back to the Pearl Harbor attacks. I could be wrong though
hard to say, but probably many people died through the nite. Come on guys....a huge plane with 520 people on board crashed and you sleep over close to it? this is ridiculous. shame on japan , a highly sophisticated country.
i dunno anything about plane engineering but it seems pretty bad to stick something important like the lifeblood of the plane on something that's sticking out, like the tail fin, or any 'fin'. why not just put the engines up there? :\
@levygonz ,14 hours later isn't just hopeless, it's a crime. they should've let the americans get in and help. be sure that if a government official or some fucking relative of these bastards was on that flight, they'd be there in less than 14 minutes, not hours.
@AK123dun this one was not Boeing's fault, this particular airplane had a tailstrike on a landing a while back, and the technicians went to fix it, they didn't do it to boeing's specs, which made it a lot weaker. It then broke from not being able to withstand the cabin pressure, then everything else happened from that, and then crashed, so I blame the technicians.
@petey815 He killed himself right after the accident. But Boeing wanted to make it "one off case" so badly. But quietly "recommended" all the 747 bulkhead area to be inspected. ( It was weak???)
I have tremendous respect for aviation accident investigators. I know there is no way I could stomach having to go to a crash site — not just because of the dead bodies — but having to realize that only moments before, those were living people ... and having to see the desperate notes written by the passenger. Could you imagine knowing for 32 minutes you were going to die? Wow. Such a senseless crash. And knowing that more people could have survived if it wasn't for egocentric governments.
foopy6 it could have been a pressure bulkhead failure because the amount of air pressure would be extremely strong and the aircraft wasn't designed for what happened
