  • They broke the mold when they made Genesis.

  • Yeah, come one though seriously, Preponderance of Beard were there ages before TG were. Their album Dekalog 1 (Stoat Manouver) is loads better than 2nd Annual Report.

  • @richievegas01

and the trio XYZ123 from 1958

  • @earinsound Exactly.

  • @richievegas01 you made it up

  • he is a pioneer! without his contribution to music, i doubt there would be such a movement as acid house. many owe him respect and gratitude. He was and is so cool and WAY ahead of his time. Always was.

  • Pretentious fucking hypocrite. TG were like all good "experimental" bands, i.e. sometimes brilliant, sometimes unlistenable, mostly interesting and you could appreciate their ideas even when they didn't sound too great. When they were good they were awesome.

He liked to say they weren't elitist, they mentioned Tesco, had more guitars than synths. Now TG 'recreate' their old sound with laptops. Anyone can do that now, the new TG is irrelevant. It's sad, devalues what they had, which was special.

  • @groinhat no, the reunited TG and the resulting studio recordings are totally excellent

    and amazing

  • Full of shit.......

  • From what year is this?

  • @Merzbowxnoise Got to be in the 90's -- probably mid and had to be during Psychic TV, but before acid-house, since no dreads...

  • He/she can look however the fuck he/she wants.

  • He's adorable. I'm straight. So refreshing.

  • It's the Sensational Anne Widdecombe Band!!

  • Well tickle my quim with a feather!

I've just stumbled across The Sensational Anne Widdecombe Band on youtube...

  • Comment removed

  • @theWytch except his music doesn't suck.

  • @CanibalCupcake09

    Noise isn't music.

  • @wollclark then what is music?

  • @theWytch ^. ^ made a point

  • @theWytch You might be onto something Now tell me where Kurt Cobain is hiding, oh wise conspirisist?

  • He looks like Angela Merkel the german kanzler

  • @replicas79

    LOL! It's true!

  • Who said anything about that piece of trash?

  • I just trying to think of what would be the exact opposite of Genesis, naturally she came to mind

  • It kills me how people get so bent out of shape about Genesis and TG... get a clue.

  • Guess what G, I got a new Idea. Lets make you quiet for some time, see what happens. Radical.

  • づら?

  • tg is one of the best.

  • Genesis actually took his name from a brand of rolled oat, breakfast cereal, which was popular in Lincolnshire, during the late 70's. He used to visit there most weekends, to scour antiquarian book shops, looking for old wank mags from the 1950's.

  • I actually got to meet Gen in a restaurant in williamsburg brooklyn my sister works at. They're good friends and they hang out a lot on the weekends. It was neat meeting her.

  • Just so you know it is very wrong to call Genesis "her" Genesis is not a tranny. Genesis is pandrogynous. I am going to message you a link on boingboing/dot/net where genesis explains it in an interview. It is not about gender it is about his union with his now deceased wife Jackie. Hope it helps clear this up! I have been hoping to bump into Genesis in williamsburg! hahaah its a long shot, but williamsburg is not so big!

  • He's actually a trans gender. "pandrogynous" is but a buzz word...

  • My neighbour used to worship Genesis P-Orridge and spent all his time and money trying desperately to invent a time machine so he could go back to when Gen's mother was in childbirth and collect her shit.

I just thought he was an asshole.

  • @EggBagg26 Fantastic!

  • gen is from manchester, as is davy jones

  • Gen during his Anne Widdicome phase. Gen-ius!

  • 'Is Larry here?"

yeah, and Shemp is out getting the chips.

ummmm. . . .Paul McCartney's gotten a little strange it seems.

    LOL

  • fuck that people that compares or ask one LONG QUESTION!!!

  • I would love to meet him/her... He is just what artist need to hear right now.

  • Hell- with his breast implants and collagen-infused lips, and his penchant for dressing like a woman, I doubt I'd recognize him, if he walked right up to me.

  • I'm waiting for Hip Hop ( maybe Rap is a better word ) to incorporate an awareness of Jon Cage. Surely, the freestyle aspects of rapping are capable of bridging a relationship with Cage's "chance operations" that could be innovative.

  • I agree whole-heartedly, unfortunately pretty much all rap/hip-hop artists are stuck in fads/their own asses to make real art.

  • wrong

  • not wrong

  • wrong

  • lately, there has been a lot of undergound rap ive been hearing of, and that stuff is about alot more than being a gangster or doing drugs or getting chicks.

  • most respectable hip-hop fans are going to point you towards the underground, but dont be fooled... theres just as much gangsterness there. good music is good music though, gangster rap can be really, really good, like anything else.

  • im not sure exactly how to interpret "the AWARENESS of john cage" but there is alot of interesting hip-hop out there pushing the boundaries, if thats the stuff you're after. what one needs to realize is that you dont have to push the boundaries to make... err, 'real art'. gangster rap can be as much 'real art' (what the fuck is real art?) as anything else.

  • A lot of people seem to get hung up on what is or isn't art. Any gangster rap is just as much art as any other music. The real issue is determining the quality of art, something that can't always be easily identified.

  • check out Flying Lotus,"Los Angeles". Not exactly John Cage in hip hop, but something.

  • @DryTung Dalek's record, Abandoned Language. Future of Hip Hop

  • I've recently discovered Psychic TV on an NPR interview. I am falling in love rapidly. Genesis is a true philosopher and player.

  • And why is Kathy Burke being interviewed?

  • A lot of old art tossery, A Pagan Day was good though!

  • I think Genesis looked better without the surgery.

  • @Lookatmeimdriving5 Genisis never cared about what anyone thought. thats what makes him so great.

  • @Lookatmeimdriving5 It's not about looking better. It's a statement going against superficial society of how people look at others solely on appearance. It's to show the mental state of one's own being is above their physicial state. That and Genesis's fascination in the genetic manipulation of the human body.

  • @Lookatmeimdriving5 but he doesn't, and that's what's important :)

  • @Lookatmeimdriving5 who cares?

  • @Lookatmeimdriving5

    Agreed. Pre-tranny

  • porridge said in a recent interview with a german magazine that he felt the process had been beneficial to the recording.however other members said it had made parking difficult as they were having to leave their vehicles quite a way from the studio.

  • his work with psychic telly was groundbreaking.

legend has it that when they recorded it,the ground did actually break outside the studio. it turned out that the tarmac had been badly laid in the car park and the hot weather had caused it to crack in places. the bass player remained unaware of the commotion due to the bacon he was forced to wear over his head .

  • if genesis had a tiger,he would probably put it up his arsehole...that`s ho cutting edge he is.

i remember one throbbing gristle gig i attended where he put some bacon on his head while the other tg members tried to tune a transistor radio.

it was one of the most intense things i have ever experienced.

  • I want to know of those experiences

he and Love and Rockets had together.

    Does anyone know?

  • Throbbing Gristle are just as important as the Sex pistols in liberating art!

Hot on the heels of love should of been number one all over the world!

  • sublime! INNERCORALREFUGE

  • I love Gen's gold teeth! No cheap hip hop grills, actual gold teeth implants! and everyone thinks Sheryl Crowe has the most expensive mouth in rock. And what's this about Gen's arm? Broke in 8 places? That's a serious F-up! He mentions Houdini and Love And Rockets... What up with that? Thankfully he's no worse for wear from it.

Davey Jones.... LOL - A bit, but less exuberant.

  • Genesis P Orridge sounds just like Davey Jones from the Monkees - close your eyes and listen, its spooky!

  • @bigboxbobby2 You. Are. The. Man.

  • When and where was this recorded?

  • this was recorded in my front room.you can just see me .i was a bit fed up `cos i was trying to watch rambo 2 and this twat kept going on about how radical he is.we had a laugh later on though.had a few pints of home brew and genesis got a bit raucous and started flashing his fanny.

  • T.G. and Psychic tv set themselves an almost impossible project . To liberate peopel in as many ways as hey could with all the forms of self-expr they tried. Cabaret Voltaire so many others had lesser aimsbut sounded more intelligentinteresetc. we must respect the attempt.how does onegoabout workthat requires much information access.who reads ?

  • the concept of relocating the sacred is a very interesting one .

so is the concept of this guy getting his head relocated from up his ass.discuss.

  • Indeed, I always thought destruction of the ego was a major component of magick.

  • for sure.

i remember some of the great ego destructive tricks david copperfield would perform.

as i remember,he had stuff with tigers in it too!

  • Yawn.

  • I had to quit jazz band a couple years ago for 1 main reason: improvisation. It wasn't me, it was them. They were doing the same improv solo every time, except for the first time of course. It had to leave because it was just totaly fucking pathetic to hear these musicians decline their rights to be free.

  • The great Miles Davis fired his sax player because he practised his solos, he said that he wasn't supposed to know what he was doing until he was doing it. I'm proud that I tried to mix it up in the band with screaming Tourette's trumpet playing, but only a few folowed, but these were the shy ones.

  • While I would be equally frustrated with that situation, why not try to react from a place of sympathy that these people don't have the self-confidence to let themselves be free?? Their loss, right?

  • i did feel sorry for them, but mostly I was mad. Jazz is one of the few courses you have to express yourself in music. Any other way, you have to do as you're told and play as the paper says. I never pass an opertunity to express myself.

  • Who Likes Prurient?

  • I PREFER YOGHURT
