No , it's "method " singing... apparently.Love Sandie to bits but I don't like this version of the song."Are you ready to be heartbroken " is a far superior cover.
w00oo00oot and UImeyda08 should get in a slap fight. that would entertaining! Sorry for being american, I know I have no bussiness enjoying this great music.
Oh, W00oo00oot got eliminated. He tried to get rude to the master so I just had to show him the ways. Notice how he is to scared to respond to me anymore.
But be it an American term or not, it's what you are.
You just sit around like some complete failure, dreaming of joining the ranks of The Smiths and The Stone Roses but know in your heart you never will, so your life will only ever equate to routine shelf work or being on the dole. I bet you'd suck Morrisseys dick if he asked you to.
Just kill yourself 'w00oo00oot', your life is just painful, do it while listening to "Asleep" even. But please do it, you sad lonely cunt.
You know what I ment, You're such an autistic cunt you know, its like you sit at home all day and wank over Morrissey dreaming to be him even though your time is running out before you become just some old lonely loser.

What's wrong with old fartdom ? I don't want a cure . A cure would mean that I would have to pretend to like the vile hellish garbage that music has been for the last 30 years . Isn't it better to be true to yourself . If you love modern shit , then you're deluding yourself , and in many ways , that makes you very sad indeed . Don't you see the irony here ?

I believe Sandie Shaw stood in for Morrissey during The Smiths' second appearance on the Top of the Pops. I recall seeing an interview where Sandie mentioned that she wasn't particularly a Smiths fan nor had she heard any of their songs up to the point when she was invited to stand in for Morrissey. She has a very lovely voice.
I'm not sure Sandie was particularly into the Smiths - if memory serves me right - and it surprises me that she covers their songs... The guitar is cobbled together on this performance and I don't particularly like the vocals either. But that's personal taste.
I'm a die hard Smiths Fan, but Sandie has shown how this song should be sung. She adds the extra emotion needed to show the subject matter and message that Morrissey intended for this song. Beautiful Sandie!
Once upon a time I thought those two had a thing for one another just because one idolized the other. Morrisey was influenced by Sandi and Sandi covered his songs. It's just interesting how how one could take a good song and add a little spice on it to make it better.
I love this song so much. I first heard it when I was 18 and it is so so so beautiful. The anguish of a broken relationship. Who couldn't relate to such poignancy in life. So simple. So perfectly rendered by Morrissey's words and Shaw's fantastic voice.
Some of the best lyrics Morrissey ever wrote and one of the most infectious guitar lines Marr ever thought up. I'm not saying the Sandie Shaw version is bad, I'm just saying when it comes to an original Smiths track verse a cover, the original will ALWAYS win.
The recorded version of this is absolutely fabulous. One of the greatest recordings I've ever heard.
The Smiths' version is fantastic as well, and will always be one of my favorites. It sounds as though Morrissey hasn't got total confidence in his voice, and Marr's guitar work is overly simplistic - especially for him. Both of which are reasons that make it outstanding in my book.
Not bad but it dusnt make you feel the way it does when Moz sings it, part of me thinks Sandi was only involved with the Smiths as her hubby badgered Rough Trade so much to do sumthing with The Smiths, not for me but thanks for adding - just enforces The Smiths version to me...
If this came on the redio I wouldnt think twice about it, I remember when I heard for the first time by the Smiths and I couldnt get enuf, criminal it was left off the album and treated as a B side :(
Nope, Sandie got involved with the Smiths because Johnny Marr and Morrissey were fans of her- Morrissey was the one badgering her to come and collaborate with them :]
the smiths version is so much better with moz singing it's not as dramtic as this and i think she takes this song to seriously and her singing actually makes me laugh it's so crap she kills the song however the song is ace
Yes. The Smiths' version has never appeared on any albums or compilations, but was the B-side to This Charming Man in 1983, and became available for the first time ever on cd in 1992 when This Charming Man was re-released.
