I think Tommy is a better fit now than ACE.Ace was great at the beginning, but the more recent shows, looked like he didn't wanne be there, and was very inconsistent> I don't see much "chemistry" in the Farewell tour vids. And for whatever reason, KISS seems to be getting the best reviews of their career now...for Sonic Boom, for the shows. Even the HOF finally took notice.

the guy is hired to pose as ace. people most strongly associate kiss with their 1973-1979 years, and when they go to a concert, that is what they want to see. this is why paul and gene try to emulate the classic lineup, and they do so by telling the lead guitarist to play and behave like ace.

Well, Kiss' been their own tribute band for a long time. And that chemestry you mentioned will never happen again, it was cool when they were 30- 30 year old, but right now it's more like a Vegas act. No disrespect to Kiss music. But Gene and Paul have considered a replacements for themselves in the band, a few years ago... Thayer's playing and posing, I'm sure is done by their request, that's my point. I thnk he may even have a different style, but it's not accepted in this Alive35 band.

The thing is he's getting paid to play like Ace and he's done a pretty good job. I mean, people will always compare the other guitar players with Ace, cause Ace is full of soul and sense of style, but Tommy is trying to emulate - maybe by request - the young Ace (cause I've seen old Ace and he can't play like that anymore). So, it's a good guitar player trying to play the licks of a legend. And he's doing great.
