Had same problems, my husband replaced brake booster and I had back brakes redone and turned rotors, truck feels great I hope it stays this way. So far no problems. My total cost $320.00, Nissan charging me $800.00.
The fault codes that were stored on the vehicle were 1179 & 1189. They verified that the brake booster failed and it was replaced. The part was 47210-ZC01C Master Vac assy on the invoice. Nissan picked up the part for me ~$500 and I paid for the labor to install ~ $200. It has been 3 months without a problem:). Hope this helps others. Sure beats car payments which is where I was headed before this fix.
@Cpointpond Thank you for posting video, my 2005 Armada is making the same noise, I have taken it to the dealership and they said it was the brake booster. I want to replace it but I'm afraid they are giving me the run around, Is your truck running better after this issue was "fixed" concerned Armada driver
@stelaluna23 so far so good. It has been 3 months since the fix. I am still in waiting mode since there would often be up to 2 years between episodes. But I am really hoping all is well now. The software updates did nothing fot the vehicle.

@Cpointpond i got the same problem in my 2004 armada but mine just happend this summer ..now i'm in fall and it's not happend anymore. could be possible that the problem is happening cuz the brakes gets hot??
@Dpita23 : I had the problem in all seasons. The only thing that was consistent was nothing seemed consistent. The timing between the problem repeating could be a little as a short drive to as long as two years. It was wet, dry, cold, hot. I am hoping that the part that I finally had replaced was faulty. 2x I had a software update and it did not solve the problem from reoccurring. The best thing you can do is when it happens is get it to a Nissan dealer without turning off the engine.
I have a 2006 Armada and the exact same thing is happening. The brake light comes on and then when you hit the brakes you have a horrible spring/grind sound. However when you restart the car it's fine. I've had it to two different dealers and they say they can't duplicate the problem. I called Nissan and they did not sound surprised. This is a very serious thing and can not believe an urgent recall hasn't been done. Does anyone know of a real fix?
We have a 2004 Nissan Armada LE 4 X 4 ~ Biggest money pit we ever invested in. Corp Nissa gave us a free diagnostics test and a lousy $250 to fix our break problems. I'll never, ever purchase another Nissan vehicle again! NISSAN YOU ARE ONE SORRY TOOL!
The Armada is currently in the shop after driving the vehicle quite a distance with the brake light on/braking problem. I was a bit shaky driving it the distance, but finally got the service to pull a code off of the vehicle. I now have 85,000 miles on this baby with the first occurence happening at 12,000 miles. They are planning on replacing a sensor this time round vs a software update. Will provide more info as I get it:).

we have a 2006 Infinity QX56 that has the same problem. Dealer has not been able to find anything before, but it is in again today and they seem to be taking it a bit more seriously. No longer under warranty, but the first time we had it looked at a couple years ago I'm sure it was. This definitely needs more exposure.
I went to the dealer and they told me to pay $930 to reset the computer and change out the faulty master cylinder sensor so I am contacting all the media, local and national to make them aware that there is a potential hazard here that NISSAN will not recognize as a RECALL. I'm sure TOYOTA won't mind getting the media off their backs for awhile. The question is, Does somebody really need to die before they fix their problems?? Thank for posting this!!
i have a 2005 armada and that happen to me couple years ago the guys from the dealer never could figured out they want me to show them what the truck does when the lite comes on but i was very hard because that problem never happen when i was there they didn't do anything but that problem is over ........ but i still dont know it what the problem was
@scottatyoutue - Unfortuntely, no. I still have the vehicle. It did it once shortly after the software update, but nothing since Sept. Problem is that the occurences are too spread out.
@Cpointpond - just got my software update today. Feeling good but will see in a few month. The guy at the shop seems to be confident this is what it needed because the occurrence is so far apart.
LOL I was driving with the "Brakes" light on for a few months until I got this fixed, got the brakes and rotors checked and it's done regularly...cuz yeah the vehicle is heavy and the brakes get used up a bit too fast if you ask me .. but when I hit the brakes on the freeway the wheel vibrates.. lol? but I mean the car is checked up regularly and the mechanic said it was nothing wrong, just a balance issue.
I have a 2006 and it happened to me today, reset by turning car off.Drove to dealership and waiting to pick it up, Crazy experience major safety isssue.
@brainwaves1 if you come up with any real solution, please post it here. software update did not fix it for me . . . .but the occurences occur years apart, which does not help diagnostic efforts.
@richu27 This is more than a rotor problem. It seems to be an ABS issue. Love the car, but do not love this issue since it has long periods between episodes making it near impossible to reproduce for the service center and is a safety issue.
@richu27 It does not have any vibration . . .like the rotor problem that the Armadas are known for. They completed that service bullentin the first time I took the vehicle in since I couldn't reproduce it. I can't say that I have had rotor/brake pad problems with the vehicle .

My name is Jundam Abdurahman Jumala, here in Doha State of Qatar, Filipino Citizen, i had the same problem with issued and i was reading about this problem some costumers said this problem Nissan company couldn't solve the problem till now, i asked a lots people who had Nissan Armada like my Card model 2006 they said they had also same problem what i had now in my Car, any one know out there what is the cause of this problem? share
@blacjac30 My first round occurences was 12,000 in '06. It reappeared in '08, and I had a software update. Again in 7/'10 it reoccurred several times. The dealer did software updates again, but unfortuntely it did not solve the issue since it just reoccured in 9/10, but this time it was only once rather than a few episodes. Please comment back how you do and I would check out the NHTSA site for vehicle safety complaints . . .we are not alone.
Orginal poster of video. I am 5 months out now from the Master Vac assy repair. All is well to date:).
