(sniff) exactly 30 years and 2 days since I first clapped eyes and ears on these excellent beasts, remeber it pulling away from a stop near the Dun laohaire terminal after getting off the St Columba on my first visit to Ireland, watching the bonnet fly open as it tore off. Magic!
Dublin has to be the most boring and morbid town in the world and people who live there just dont know life or there own self worth its like a prison because almost every bar and food store has arrogant polish security gaurds on them and everyone judges you for simple things like the way you dress act behave walk and talk its SICK get the fuck out and live your life . You cannot express your true self in Dublin because the culture is so extremely different to everywhere.
What are those Black rectangle fixtures on the body work on the fron of the bus below and in some cases above the dash board? Ive always wondered. Any help on this???
Would it be the rectangle below the number 17 on this bus? That is a sign that lights up showing "Bus Full". Some buses had one of these signs mounted below the nearside windscreen, that one had 2 messages, "Pay Conductor" or "Pay Driver".
@shaunmooreokelly drove them from march 2000 till the last one was scrapped from phibsboro, possibly late 2000 or early 2001........real old bus, heavy solid feel of them. some of them could still fairly move too.
Last time i rode a KD and KC were the 20A (KD) and 27B (KC) now i'm going way back, way back in time. When the wall on Conolly Station was still up and some bus eireann coaches used to park up.
I would love to get a shot of a KD or a KC... KD238 was the one I remember but dont know from which garare it was based at...
Tbh that DAF forget the fleet name of it though P is the one i can remember of it atm but it look horrid in the Two Tone Green Livery.. It stood out in the City Swift Livery
Wonderful video lads, the last ever KD I saw in service was on the 17, along with the last ever KC i saw in service (also on the 17). Looking forward to seeing another KD back on the road soon enough....
You don't by any chance have a video where someone is starting up a KD do you? I've seen one on a video before but do you have one where someone is revving it?
@dublinbusdude I live in Winnipeg, Canada where older Bombardier buses are still in service. They sound identical to the KD's and remind me of them when I was growing up in Dublin.
