I am going through the wonderful task of cataloging my vinyl collection and trying to choose what I need to replace on digital and load on my iMac. This will be one of the albums that I just have to replace - a brilliant album by a brilliant man and who passed far too young..RIP Alun
While walking in the city of Brisbane, QLD,AU,PE,U in 1973/74 I heard this album playing as I walked by a record store. Went in and brought it no second thoughts. You know an album is good when someone borrows/steals it from you and you never see it again. Yay for youtube now I have got it back. "Throw your bread upon the waters and after many days it will return to you". Now who put that notion forward? Where did I leave my bank of memories? Luv ya all:} peat.
Alan Hull wrote lyrics that newer writers could only aspire to. A genius and I don't use that word lightly, oft forgotten as the rest of the Lindisfarners are.
This is a great, great song. I'm just learning piano and want to learn this but I can't find the sheet music for it anywhere. I can find the guitar chords but not the piano music. Anyone know where I can get it?
Alan Hull was the poet, singer song writer that most people never saw unless you were a fan of Lindisfarne. I true great and his songs are from the heart, and very real with the observational eye of this remarkable man, highly recommended to all who enjoy real music,
Sublime, utterly, beautifully sublime. One of my favourite artists of all time, I was fortunate to see him do a solo gig in Belfast way back in the 70's, just him and an acoustic guitar, except for the bottle of Blue Nun he introduced as " the band ". He gave us an evening of sheer magic, a truly great songwriter and sorely missed. Thank you for posting this.
I'm proud that such a talented songwriter came from my region. One More Bottle of Wine is the most uplifting and affecting song I think I've ever heard. It's pure genius.
Cheryl Cole my arse. Long live the music of Alan Hull.
used to drink with alan in the azure blue pub many many years ago. this song brings back great memories of good times in gateshead. alan sadly missed always remembered. a true gent
this is a fantastic piece of music! i have tried to find the piano music for ages now, if anyone knows if it has been published then please let me know. I would kill to get my hands on a copy!!!
