  • I hate this man

  • come to my area ian duncan smith and we will crack your big head

  • @shania7670 Lol, ha ha - look how quickly he says "I dont think so" without thinking, when Govt criticism is mentioned ! he's only concerned with 'GOVT EXPENDITURE' the whole time

  • @ Mickmars90

As does child poverty, which dosen't exist in Britain.

    ^ LOL.

  • NAZI

  • It exists in countries like Cuba, the African countries, North Korea, Venezuela etc. In Britain, we all go with food, we all have shelter. Guardianista's like to tax everyone but don't like to redistribute their own wealth. Vermin

  • You might have food and shelter but I am currrently forced to leave my Youtube postings from my cardboard box with only my Dell Inspiron and cat, Mildew for company .

This isn't even my Wi-fi so don't you talk about shelter!!

  • Well, socialists fail to realise that there are two types of equality. There is equality of opportunity and equality of outcome. The government's only job should be to ensure everyone has equal opportunities. The state should not force equality of outcome. People should be left alalone to pursue their own goals and ambitions. ''Social justice,'' is another phrase that gives the state an excuse to tax the middle classes even more. As does child poverty, which dosen't exist in Britain.

  • On a more serious note: You're right that forcing equality of outcome does not make sense but these forms of equality can very easily become tightly entwined. When you set out to improve life for the lowest, yes there will be many lost causes pursued but I don't think a selfless and moral argument can be made for the tight rationing of compassion by those with so much comfort to spare.

  • Does Ian Duncan Smith want to see more ay sex between 2 gay men on national tv though?

  • I saw Iain (while eating a Double Decker) in Manchester on Saturday night. He looked quite cute!

  • Remember Richard Littlejohn. He bitchslapped Toynbee beyond all recognition

  • Ah yes, Richard Littlejohn. What a fine political mind. Definitely one of the top 10 great Britons of all time - I think he'd rank somewhere between Paul Burrell and Harold Shipman.

  • Sarcasm is not your strong point.

  • Agreed Toynbee is a clueless b***h...Why the media bothers with her is beyond me..

  • i just cant take polly toynbee seriously anymore having watched richard littlejohn reduce her to a mumbling, stuttering wreck on question time.

if anyone wants to see it, search "littlejohn bitchslaps toynbee".

littlejohn; " do you think of global warming as you fly out to your villa in italy ?"

toynbee; " er,but, erm, ah, but, erm, a, er"

  • How can social justice be achieved under a Tory government that has always shown total contempt for public services? State education has always been starved under Tory governments, because Tories choose private education. Same for Health. Who made cuts to the probation service who rehabilitate prisoners? The Tories. Social justice would die under a Tory government.

  • Contempt for education? It is the Labour Party who have shown contempt for education, with their destruction of the country's finest grammar schools. Our school system is now awful, poor children cant get a good education, they are trapped in comprehensive "sink schools".They cant aspire to achieve in life, thanks to Labour's destruction of the education system, hardly any states-school pupils now get to top Uni's,when grammar schools existed 75%of Oxbridge places went to state school pupils!!

  • Iain Duncan Smith seems like a good person. BUT, if the Tories ever got into power again, his social justice agenda would be scrapped on day one. Who opposed the minimum wage? The Tories. Who opposed Sure Start and New Deal? The Tories.

  • Because they are shite ideas.

  • Seems a rather socially accepted idea in the sense that 90% of all countries have a mininum wage system. As far as I'm concerned, the national minimum wage has been one of the, dare I say, many successful policies of this Labour government. But, I would disagree with newminkey, in that the Tory Party would not revoke the national minimum wage act - there would be uproard

  • It's the Trade Unions fault. Look at the countries in Europe with one. They have unemployment pushing 8,000,000. The market decides your wage, not the government.

  • of course they won't repeal the minimum wage, their original opposition was quite reasonable although misplaced! I would challenge you to give me ten succesful policies of the labour party though. I can think of only a few minor ones.
