He was the first Black Athelete to be sort of embraced by Whites.

His son is a brilliant speaker.

please....Sugar Ray was a already a huge name by the time louis made it. they were friends, think they were raised in the same block. but he wasnt inspired by him at all.

Every black fighter from the 40's - 70's was heavily inspired by Louis - including both Sugar Rays and Ali.

That isn't true, Sugar Ray says Louis is his idol. He inspired him tremendously. SRR carried Louis' bags when he went to train at Brewsters gym in Detroit when Ray was younger.

actually i'd say sugar ray and joe louis had very different styles, though both were devastating punchers with either hand.
