  • Can you get this bass in the 3- Tone Sunburst as well?

  • Dude. for playing bass less than 2 years, you seem to have a lot of potential! nice style, nice bass! ;)

  • hey man how would you rate the badass II bridge? worth buying (i'm thinking about getting the same bass) also did it fit right in or did you have to like make modifications?

  • @p0w3rs3rj hey bro. I'm liking it and it fit right in, i think its because its a direct replacement for fender type basses.

  • I Installed a pre-slotted badass II bridge in my squier vm jbass and it ended having a high action in my bass...

  • @vermonjohn have you tried a shim for the neck?

  • @ovalman24 yes. anyway i'm getting used to the the high action in my bass

  • This has almost no bite.. Especially for Steel strings. Is it EQing or the bass itself?

  • @jarhead4214 it makes sense, it's plugged directly to the pc, and its got onboard soundcard. I think if you want stings are pretty old though.

  • @Dovis05 im using both bridge and neck pickups together in this video.

  • Which pick ups do you use for slaping?? both of themMM??

    brigde or the neck?

  • @Dovis05 i would use the neck pickup...i tried out this bass and the neck pickup would in my opinion be the most appropiate

  • No I like slapping with passives...most of my basses are passive...check them out! Especially the Fender 77 Jazz and even my Frankensquier both are passive....

  • Beautiful j-bass. Marcus Miller, Wooten, and Clarke are pretty much gods. Your slapping does them homage. Nice jam.

  • I really dislike a lot of slap bass videos with people that don't know what theyre doing. But youre awesome. This is how tis done.

  • hi ey men what bass is more best the squier vintage modified jazz bass or squier 60s jazz bass??

  • Very nice playing! crunchy crunchy

  • nice boob lol great playing mannnn :-D

  • 13months, lol

  • what strings are you using?

  • @vladaOSOD

D'addario stainless steel in this video.

  • ur good

  • Did your come with that pick up cover?

  • is it passive or active guitar?

    btw. nice bassin' :)

  • passive.

  • @666Lyo666 It's not impossible. The SVM JB 70s and all the Vintage Modified lineups dont have any preamp. The only Squier that has preamp is the Deluxe Active Jazz. I can ensure this.

  • Wow nice slap man, keep it up :)

  • thank you. check out the recent videos! :)

  • hey bro thats pretty good. Does the pickup cover mess with your fingerstyle position alot? cuz thats right where i play... and was it hard to put on? ty

  • not hard at all, just have to drill it.

it doesnt mess with my fingerstyle position.. its just right for me to play fingerstyle (just behind the pickup cover) but its good for slapping since i dont have to lift my palm so high to get the hook.

  • did the badass come with notches, or did you have to notch them?

  • its a perfect replacement.

  • Are you kidding me?! 13 months? I wish I could slap half as well as this, and I have been playng 5 times as long as you. \\v

    Very nice!

  • Well. What can i say. Thank you. Ive been playing for 2,5 years now. ;) do watch my newest videos.

  • are those strap hooks see through?

  • no, its just that the lightning goes from the other side (my back) so it looked like that. its just a normal cheap strap button.

  • sweet :)

  • very nice man!

  • nice gan!

  • Awesome skills...........You're on your way.

  • where can u get the badass 2 bridge and how much is it

  • very very good for 13 monthss mannn! ; ) which amp you usee?? ...

  • Keep it up! You are really good!

  • Thanks.

  • around 80USD.

  • Do you like the sound of the badass 2? What material is is made of and did you have a different bridge on before the badass 2?

  • dont know. the badass II is considered High mass bridge, which gives more bottom and attack to the tone. it did have different bridge, that vintage style bridge.

  • im getting this soon is it worth it to get the badass bridge 2 does it change the sound a lot?

  • not ALOT.. but sure you can hear the difference. more punch, attack, sustain and zings. very recommended.

  • ok thanks man im going to ask for one for christmas. my favorite part is that it says badass on it lol. but right now i have a squier affinity with a seymour duncan quarter pound pickup idk which one i would put the bridge in

  • ive tried the squier affinity, not bad. but the VM with badass bridge is just pure sex.

  • alright lol

  • hey can i ask u one more question, where did u get the badass bridge at if off the internet which site?

  • Great playing...Just want to know what kind of strings do you use?

  • sadowsky stainless steel blue label 0.45

  • I want to learn this theme man, where can I find the tab?

  • It's my own licks. And i cant read/write tab either. sorry :X

  • Hey, did you find out how to run the sound in stereo when recording on PC??

If the answer is yes, please tell me how you did it, please.

    Thanks in advance!

  • It's in mono.

  • Hello Terry,

I would buy that bass. It's recommend? It needs some modifications to set right?

  • If you like it without the mods, then nothing's wrong with it.

  • Nice play..nice bass..i think it`s a good bass even it`s a "low budget". keep going !

  • Thanks. It's more than a good bass now. Powered with Sadowsky Humcancelling Pickups and Sadowsky Outboard Preamp/DI. I'll post the vid next time ;)

  • LOVIN' THE VEST

  • You cant go wrong with singlet in the middle of hot summer! haha :D

  • Cool playin' dude =). Can you please tell me good and bad things about the bass becouse i'm very interasted in bouying one. I need to decide betwen Ibanez SR300 and that one. Thanks. With greetings.

  • It's good. I was thinking to change the bridge back to stock, but naaah.

It depends on what you play actually. If you're more into rock and stuff.. go for SR300. Jazzbasses are good for funk and jazz. Low input, but since i use EBS MicroBass II i dont really worry about that anymore.

  • Jazz basses work just fine for rock, many people use that (Geddy lee, JPJ, sometimes Claypool)

  • I bet. But cool setup man. I'd even go as far as saying it has a sort of semi active tone to it

  • Ah yeah. For me its totally passive though. LOL.

Check out those new videos.. they're with EBS and sounds alot better.

  • My next question would be whether that bridge helps achieve a nice bright punk tone ala matt freeman; but I won't ask cuz obviously ur more versed in slap style LOL

  • High mass bridge such as BadAss II gives more sustain, and makes your tone a bit more brighter. But don't just rely on the bridge, other things might affect the tone too.

  • "funky" bridge upgrade lol

  • thanks man :D

i changed the bridge because it has some issues.. hate that vintage style bridge.

  • Man you kick ass for 13 months, I was nowhere near as good as you :)

  • Its about how much you practice, and how you practice. Everyone can do it! :)

    Thanks though.

  • Yeah well I can do it now, but it took me about a year and a half to be able to do it properly. I was too busy playing pop punk in bands and had no-one to show me all the great bass players!

  • I see. But really, you've still got long way to go (so do i) and it doesnt really matter on when you started ;)

  • Well the videos I have up atm of any slapping aren't that good, but hopefully I should put some more up soon :)

Thing is, slapping is only worth something if you're going to use it on a gig or in the studio, and I can say I'm lucky enough to be able to do both in my band :D

  • Nice groove. I have only the sound in the left ear, there is a problem with the recording!

  • There is not. Its just that it runs in MONO. Someone gotta tell me how to run in stereo.

  • alo terry,u plan to swap the pick ups?u replace by urself @ need a specialist to do that?

  • maybe, im thinking of getting seymour duncan sjb-1 for the bridge pickup and sjn-1 for the neck pickups. they're vintage, so it suits me.

  • Nice slapping. How would you say the difference is between the stock bridge and Badass2? I'm gonna get one anyway but want to know what to expect ;)!

  • The stock bridge has issues, gets loosen up sometimes. I hate it. The BadAss bridge gives more attack and sustain, makes the tone somehow abit brighter. But i like it, the "zing" when you do the slapping (especially when you pluck the D string) is just heaven. Just like what bassmanwho said, it gives the classic jazzbass tone that we after.

  • I suggest change the bridge to badass. The pickups are alright but im planning to swap it to Seymour Duncan SJB-1 & SJN-1 (they are vintage). Because the stock pickups are duncan designed, i thought a real seymour duncan will give the "mature tone" of it.

  • hi man..that bass made in indonesia?

  • nice job man!

    it sounds really good

  • Thanks man. Check out some other videos too! :)

  • great vid man. love your style.

Im thinking of getting this bass looks like an absolute steal for the price... overpriced here in australia though (nearly 700 AUD.)

I'm a self taught bassist, but I hold my own. I got a question for ye: does hand position for slap matter? e.g thumb facing up, down? etc. ? thanks man

  • Hey im in australia too. sydney, to be exact.

I got the bass for 480$ at shire music centre at miranda, nsw. it shouldnt be more expensive than 500$. really.

  • ive been checkin out this bass, should i get it for my first bass? cause i found it at samash and their selling fast.......help XD

  • well if you like jazzbass in a budget price, this is the one bro.

  • How's the action o it? I own one and even after a setup it is really high.

  • well.. ive changed the bridge to badassII bridge, and its abit alright now. my action is just medium, because i need that clean thump.

try to adjust the truss rod, it might help. careful though.

  • Also good to replace the nut with a Tusq nut...it's about the one thing that is really cheap on these basses. That, strings, and the optional badass....yeah....good bassing on the cheap.

  • yeah. my strings are dead after 1 month of slapping.. pretty sick. i use stainless steel though. kinda curious how it sounds when it goes with flats. but i cant do that these days. haha.

  • Great chops my man.......I have one of these basses that I modified to look like a USA Fender......I posted a couple of videos with it. For the money you just can't beat the quality of the Vintage Modified series.

  • hey this is really good. how do you like that bass, cause im thinking abut getting it?

  • I really like the bass in stock. You just have to get good strings to keep the tone. Ive changed the bridge to BadAssII because the old bridge has that vintage-bridge issues which you wouldnt really want.

    Best bang for the buck.

  • thakns man. is this pretty close to a mexican fender j bass? i would imagine it is since it has the duncans in it

  • now i haven't heard the duncan's in it myself, but i thought i'd warn ya, they don't put seymour duncans in there, they put the duncan-designed in there. I'd switch em up myself with a set of actual duncans or a set of ultra jazz pups, that's what i'm doing on my jazz

  • well this guitar has the stock duncan designed pickups in it and it sounds pretty good in the video

  • i dont really know man. ive tried the mexican j bass but yeah didnt really feel it. but i love the active deluxe jb mex.

im very happy with this bass because ive got more than what i paid for, and i cant really compare it with mexican j bass as you pay more money for that.

i mean, why dont you go for something else rather than buying a mexican j bass? if i have the money to buy a mex j bass i still wouldnt buy it, instead, i would do lots of mods onto this bass.

  • thats what im probably gonna do too, thanks

  • terry....nice technique there...i really enjoyed it

  • thanks alot! i like your videos as well ;) please check some other vids in my channel.

  • so this would be a good bass to start on? (already play guitar but band demand around here is bass)

  • yes it is. very reliable, nice tone also.

  • awesome

  • thanks man.

  • Great man! Talent!! Did u have this vintage modified 70's jbass actually set up after you got it? i heard the action is very high.... i am a begginner too and muscle strain scares me! :)

  • uh well, i set it up myself. its not really hard. the thing that you have to change is just the BRIDGE cause it has that vintage bridge and it has LOTS OF issues.. that is why i changed the bridge to BadAssII and its alot better.. although i havnt do fillings on the groove. Thanks alot.

  • You know you can make your action lower by changing the bow in your neck, right?

  • The truss road? yeah.

  • You are such a badass for a guy who's only been playing for 13 months!

I'm quite a fan of Marcus myself :]

Any tips for a slap n00b like myself?

  • i think the most important thing is to train your ears, get used to rythmic stuff, slapping stuff.. cuz the idea of slapping isnt about how you slap it, but to create nice lines and patterns.. so yeah. listen to mark king, marcus (LOTS of em..), LARRY graham, louise johnson.. victor wooten.

and to be honest i dont play their songs, i listen to them and i do their licks.

    thanks :)

  • Nice bro. those quick thump percussives are really nice!

  • @brandon: hey, its really 13 months! checkout my other vids and you'll see.

    @rocky: thanks :)

  • nice playing

  • thanks brah.

  • as if 13 months
