You know what, if I was filming a band playing I wouldn't take a stare down as a hint to turn off the camera. If they flicked me off, I would sure as fuck upload it here and ruin there sales. Fuck them on how rude they handled the situation. Good way to get yourselves killed these days.
@xcharybdis actually chris, even though i love you, your wrong buddy. when this tooll recorded this song, it was called heaven is whenever. when finishing the album, they just the name to fit the song more.
I'm gonna miss Franz..does anyone know if he has anything to do with their new album? I know it's gonna be released in like April or something, I just didn't know if he was gonna do one last project with THS before he left or not.
They wrote the album whilst on the road during their last tour (they had a makeshift studio in the bus) so i'm guessing Franz had something to do with it. He might've told them he was leaving and so didn't contribute though. I think it's gonna be good either way!
@doogallas franz actually had nothing to do with HIW. Tad Kubler did all the keys. this is essentially why they are more guitar driven on the new album. it was a mutual decision for franz to leave. from the spawn of the band, he made sure it was known that he wasnt a THS lifer. the band is still on good terms with him from what i understand.
I've never commented on a YouTube video...But @uglypodcast...You braved a Craig Finn middle finger and staredown to bring the world this goodness...If there was some sort of trophy or award for awesomeness, I would nominate you thrice. Thank you.
Craig Finn is hysterical. He never really talks about piracy or bootlegging screwing up his musical output, so I suppose a just, "fuck off," is fair. Plus you get to tell people Craig Finn flipped you off.
I saw them play this in Seattle the other nite, had to find a copy. If you play a song live people are going to hear it, you really shouldn't be allowed to bitch.
I wholeheartedly agree. If they don't want tracks released they shouldn't play them live. Just because this is up won't mean I won't buy their album when it comes out. How can anyone be happy listening to this low quality of a song over and over?
If they were worried about people hearing live versions of their songs before the studio release, they wouldn't allow a fan to host a large archive of live shows.

This song is actually called "We Can Get Together" I was just at a The Hold Steady show in Jermyn Pa and He said that is what this song was titled.

Craig Finn looks like a stereotypical math teacher.

No offense, but how do you not take that hint? If a band I love is pretty obviously not happy with my filming, I would probably stop.

Yes. He was giving you the death stare. They weren't happy that you sat there recording the entire song. He even gives you the finger at 1:32

its an issue for any band,
its important to work out new songs live,
but if they leak like this did it hurts their record sales,
people dont tend to buy it if they have heard it,
and usually the earlier live versions are incomplete, or atleast not what they will be after production ect,
his stare down was supposed to make you stop filming,
and quite frankly if you really like the band then take this clip down until after the record is released,
music is a buisness,
help the band out,

bullshit. i'd never not purchase a record because i'd heard a dodgy live version of one track a year earlier.
you think he'd just be happy for the fucking publicity.
