@laurie2883 Hello laurie, I'm not sure i know who you are but i appreciate hearing from you regarding the rideau raiders. Are you danny or steve's child? kathy and frank? haha sorry i don't know.
I hope my YouTube video "Ottawa Sound Waves of the 1980s" will remind you of some of the buskers and places. Sorry! sorry, my reference to the Rideau Raiders is not that positive - but we trust you will take it in good humor and understand that we were a little jealous.
You can get the words & chords and a free download of the song at my SoundClick;
I lived in Ottawa for most of the 1980s. I remember the Rideau Raiders put on a good show and gathered a big crowd when they played. I, like the Raiders, also played some Eagle songs when I was out busking then. Me, I sort of enjoyed busking and learning music and never encouraged a crowd but I think some far off listeners may have caught some good moments. I do not know if you would remember me; E-sop or by other names.
@TrickTOlly I'm sorry I missed this comment, I really do appreciate you writing me about the past. Gosh, my memory has faded somewhat but I remember your name, I do. Great to hear from you again.
cool pic of you in high school mann...I think the song i just wrote you commented on is about people just like you dedicated to what they do and love....Real great song dude
Love the way you open the verse with a 3 part harmony and then the lead takes over the rest of the line. Shades of CSN there.
Great interlude into the solo. Love the way one the other guitars strum emphatically to punch home the point.
Performance-wise and songwriting here is well beyond the friendly confines of amateur youtube status. You are every bit as good as the pros up on the stage making a living with music. Thanks for the peak into your past as well.
I love that comparison, Oswlek! Quite an honour to hear that from you. I really hesitated to do this song since it is so old and originally done by 3 of us. But in the end, I'm really glad you found some positive aspects to it. Thanks buddy for the continuing support.
Thanks brother! Appreciate those kind words. I'm really glad to have you around and hope you keep coming back. I've got a new video coming up in a couple days so see you then? :)
Hi buddy! NIce to see you here. My rockin' days are still going strong...trying to record whenever I can but time's tight. Still love to do it. Thanks man!!
Simply said - professional!! I grew up in the Ottawa Valley, had a rock band in mid 70's based around the Pembroke area, even met my wife in Kingston. Small world as they say. This is now one of my favourite channels. Dennis
Hey thanks very much! I was born in Kingston and know about Pembroke, been there before I'm sure but don't remember it much. Great to have you around Dennis. Thanks buddy!
Great job, Elliott. You composed a beautiful song, that has a meaningful lyrics and a clear melody. You also play guitar very well (e.g., the solo is bright and helps us to know your job better). About your autubio I'd like just to add that it's nice and lets us know that you have developed your talent since early. It's really impressive!
Hi there Ritacos. Great to hear from you. Thank you sir for your very kind words and feedback on my singing and playing. I appreciate it a lot. Hope to keep in touch in the future. See you around buddy.
Hi there Kanella, yes Kingston is beautiful. I only lived there for a couple years after birth and lived mostly in Ottawa. Thanks for coming by to see this video and for your kind comments.
I was quite fascinated by your intro Elliott. It's always interesting to hear how other musicians started off. Thanks for sharing that with us. The song is fantastic! What do you mean it's a 'bit rough'? I put hours into my recordings and I only wish they could be half as good as this lol. I loved the close harmony in this. Absolutely superb! 5*****
Cool! I didn't know if it would be boring or enlightening to watch that. I just wanted people to know a little more and I'm glad that musicians like yourself appreciate that kind of thing. Thanks for your constant kindness and encouragement. You really know how to get the best out of your fellow musicians. Really appreciate your feedback and ratings. Thanks Ferdy!
Nice tight harmony, as a matter of fact I´d say perfect, your backround surely shows here Elliott, greatly structured offbeats with the guitars and voice, nice to listen to a REAL musician!
Hey Rick buddy! Always love to hear from you. I really appreciate getting feedback from you, means a lot to me and helps me grow musically. I think of you pretty much every time I do a video and wonder what you'd say, so that's all good. Hope to keep in touch with you.
Hey Doug! Great to hear from you again. I bet you have been very busy writing and recording but I've been a bit out of the loop. Just want to say I'm a fan of yours and hope to keep watching you. And thanks for coming by to see me and commenting. :)
Hey Elliot ! Great original song! (as always) Very good editing and interesting personal history....And very nice to see you around again!!! Five stars and favorites. Alice
Hi Dwight! Thanks for having the patience to watch this thing until the song, hehe. Hope you're doing well in 2010. I'll drop by your channel in a bit and check out what's up for you. Happy recording. :)
