  • It SUCKS that the iTunes version of the song has an error on it.

    Forgive me for pirating.

  • this song makes me wanna say:LALALALALALADOODA................

  • i could swear i hear that arcade game Galaga music in here.

  • This songs makes me feel confused for some reason.....its ok

  • that shit at the end is rockin!!!

  • I FEEL LIKE IM FUCKIN CRAZY LISTENING TO THIS ARTIST!!!!!!!!

  • PRETTY LIGHTS

  • @132liverpoolrd

    It's a time signature not a fraction

  • @Hitscam welcome to the avalanche's. the stoner's choice!

  • i asked this before and got no answer, but why exactly do people think the "3/4 time" in the title is directly referencing the song time signature and not just a part of the title?

  • wow ive never seen a song as heavily sampled as this one.

    awesome.

  • @tsangfold girl talk.

  • Comment removed

  • @Mralec007 no i love the song, and i love all of the samples in it. i may have said it in which it sounds like i hated the song.

  • I have a heavy feeling in my frontal lobe (amazing)

  • makes me want to listen to maybe tomorrow by pretty lights

  • It's 3/4, with emphasis only on the first note of each bar, due to the tempo. It becomes more obvious when you try to listen to the drums separately. Now y'all geek up somewhere else, ya hear?

  • DId you just change the title of this videos while I was watching? :O

  • Stop being such wank offs and enjoy the fucking song losers

  • well i have to say that i hate the most songs of avalanches and to be honest the first and last port of this song sucks too but i like that song i never thought they can do something in that way :D

  • I'm going to go ahead a be the jerk who points out to wackozacho2000 that maybe two hearts in 3/4 time would make a song in 6/8 time <3 <3

  • @Element1280 ZOOM

  • why isn't music still like this ( a weird rhetorical question, given that it's sampled stuff)?

  • well reduce 6/8 and you get 3/4. I know it doesn't quite work that way but...you get what I'm saying.

  • Sounds like a song I'd play taking a drive into the mountains during the springtime.

  • i don't get... what is suposed to mean 6/8, 12/16...?

  • That's actually in 6/8 time!

  • You guys are all dumb... it's just set up as triplets in 4/4. What you're perceiving as one measure is actually just one beat at one third the tempo.

    Sillies.

  • this song is way to strange

  • Lala lala lala lala lala doo dah, da da

  • da da la la ala

  • I feel strangely hypnotized.

  • @Hitscam Haaah good one.

  • Some people never see the face in this album cover.

(And for the people arguing, you can't tell the difference between 3/4, 6/8, and 12/16 just by listening. You can write anything in any signature you want... it's a matter of preference. Tradition dictates that marches are in 2/2, but that regular music with the same beat is 4/4... in application, the beat length is the same.)

  • @sobeita the difference is how rapidly you must wave your arm around if you are conducting the music

  • @32000BTUGasGrill By the time of a performance, the conductor is a figurehead. All of the teaching and coordinating is done. The best musicians have not only the rhythm but the entire song in their heads; they never need cues, they never need adjustments, they never get off time and they never squeak, blat, etc.

Conductors only matter for a) presentation and b) grade school / community bands. Not for songwriting.

Sorry for the rant, I assume you were joking anyway.

  • @32000BTUGasGrill Your comment ammused me greatly, credit to you good sir.

  • @sobeita That may be true, but do you see the other face?

  • samples from Cabaret, hillarious, marvelous! brilliant

  • hahaha .....tax evation and dirty backs start earlier huh!

  • it makes you think of joy in the world with that special someone, just sit back.....and chill.

  • uh, maybe this is a dumb, but i thought the title was simply referring to two hearts beating in 3/4 time. why does it have to be a reference to the time signature of the actual song? anyway, real chill tune, love it.

  • the title got me-

    2 hearts in 3/4 time

    love.

  • La laa la laa la laa la laa la laaa doo daa....dada

  • wow.. amazing!!!

  • So pure, this is 10th grade.

  • @MrHearington

tenth grade aint pure for shit

  • @jbean9021 hahaha .....tax evation and dirty backs start earlier huh!

  • word yo !

    the time signature is correct

funny how everyone wants to be a musician or critic on Youtube

unless youre in the industry or have vast knowledge and experience in this shit

sit down and put ya hands in ya lap and enjoy

  • Munney!

  • I hear some of Todd Rundgren's 'Prana' here...

  • I love this song. Almost as much as I love the fact that there are (so far) twenty pages of comments spanning back more than TWO YEARS in which the 3/4 vs. 6/8 time argument is rehashed over and over and over and over again, using essentially the same points and counter points each time it comes around again. My current theory is that they named the song after the original 2 hearts in 3/4 while setting it to 6/8 just to cause such a self-referencing crazy loop. Or not. Great track, though. :)

  • IT"S A 4/4 BEAT! great track but 4/4

  • @ColoradoSoundboy

    not it's 3/4

like dazed and confused by led zeppelin is 3/4

count by threes quickly in quarter notes...

  • @LinkBulletBill. I agree, I reckon this is in 6/8.

  • @PeevedUK

    12/16?

    Its 3/4,

  • lawl, 3/4 of the time is loveable, cuz the week that the gurl have her patches, its pretty badass

  • i love this!

  • it reminds me of Captain Beeftheart, strange, trippy, brilliant.

  • Does anyone else think of Cowboy Bebop when they listen to this song? It's just got that sort of vibe to it.

  • 3/4 is the waltz rhythm so, there are 2 hearts dancing in that romantic rhythm, besides, this song doesn't have a rhythm of 3/4, maybe it's possible to have 2 hearts in 3/4 when people are in love

  • @alvakaren1 the song obviously has a 3/4 rhythm. it's very fast.

  • @alvakaren1

yeah it is in 3/4, or i guess you could say 6/8 since its pretty uptempo

  • dunno

  • the ending..

  • Cinco De Mayo, smoking two blunts and cruising the streets, felt like this was actually being heard outside. Just picture it, and you will know what i mean.

  • sickest intro

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmm avalanches :)

  • Comment removed

  • 3/4 has 3 beats, which can be halved

6/8 usually has 2 beats, which can be divided by 3

  • I'm going to go ahead a be the jerk who points out that this song is actually in 6/8.

  • @wackozacho2000 ha yeah true but who cares.!

  • *cracks up* Don't worry, you weren't the first. Plenty of musical theory-ish madmen out there. *thumbs up*

  • But hey-- maybe that's why it says TWO hearts. Then when you combine the time signatures, it'd be 6/8! ... YEAAAAAAA--

  • @wackozacho2000 I don't know the difference between 3/4 and 6/8. I'll take your word for it. :)

  • wackozacho2000-

I don't really know if there's any certain way to tell the difference between 1 measure of 6/8 and 2 measures of 3/4 just by listening, but I'm going to assume that it's written in 3/4 time because it's part of the title.

  • @wackozacho2000 I'm going to be a jerk as well and point out how 3/4 is the same thing as 6/8 just in a smaller form but hey we can't all be right.

  • @wackozacho2000 haha I was just thinking that as I was listening and then I saw your comment lol

  • @wackozacho2000 Yes, but it's two hearts in 3/4th's time. 2x3=6, 4x2=8.

To be honest, I don't even know what I'm saying. But The Avalanches would think of something crazy like that.

  • @grahjnn you know what...that actually makes perfect sense lol

  • @wackozacho2000

it's TWO hearts in 3/4, which makes 6/8. but, i did originally think the same thing. =)

  • @wackozacho2000

it's TWO hearts in 3/4, which makes 6/8. but, i did originally think the same thing. =)

  • @wackozacho2000 perhaps the two hearts part?

  • @wackozacho2000 6/8 is easily divisible by 3/4, I used to argue that shit with my music teacher back in highschool. He tried to tell me that it which is used depended on where the downbeat is, but I mean you could make a song that does something wonky like puts a downbeat in the middle of a measure every other bar and still have it in 3/4. It's all perception, and really the second half of any time signature is just for people reading it off a page.

  • @wackozacho2000 That's the point.. time seems two slow, when two loves are together.

  • @wackozacho2000 Two hearts in 3/4 make one heart in 6/8.

  • @mandalovscheer no they don't, 3/4 = 6/8

  • @xtonytonytonyx no it doesn't, 3/4 = triple time and 6/8 = compound duple time

  • @xtonytonytonyx

    No they don't.

3/4 puts the emphasis on beats 1, 2 and 3, creating a waltzing feel.

6/8 has the heavy emphasis on beats 1 and 4, making it have a swaying feel.

  • @mandalovscheer 3/8*

  • @mandalovscheer considering 6/8 and 3/4 is the same value, I would say one heart in 1.5/4!

  • @wackozacho2000 Two hearts at 3/4 time = 6/8 ibuwgiywgfbiywihd idiot

  • @wackozacho2000 Same difference

  • @wackozacho2000 double time. two hearts. geddit?

  • @wackozacho2000 Well it could be a really fast 3/4 like most Mariachi music... Although it does have more 6/8 feel to it. So I guess pointing that out was kinda useless. I'm gonna go ahead and click post anyway.

  • man i wish i did have the sweetest girl but she'd have to be the nastiest as well

  • oh my god is amazing..

  • sighhh...so good

  • sounds like your wedding day...

...but then wait! a crew of gangster rappers crash your reception!

  • I would call it ORIGINAL! Actual thought and ideas went into putting this (and their other stuff) together. Unlike what passes in today's world of music --> sampling (stealing, copying) someone else's song, lyrics or rhythm and then making up some stupid rhymes about Cristal and bitches and hos and playing them over that sampled (stolen copied) original and then calling it "art" and "my own" ... yeah. Not much going on in the mainstream music world today.

    These guys did it right!

  • @Kloneranger YOUR COMMENT, EPIC WIN!

  • I find it hard to believe Nujabes was not the first one to get his hands on this track first. (Yu-ma -Marlena Shaw)

  • Nujabes is very very very nice. I love this kind of music.

  • wtf? why did my friend send me this song? its weird.. but some how... addicting.

  • @lucidiquedreams wierd, same here XD

  • what kind of music would u classify this as?

  • @kharaf

    The Avalanches

You can't describe it in any other way.

  • expeirmental/electronic

  • I call it downtempo. Some call it trip-hop I think or experimental electronica. It doesn't really matter though. It's just good.

  • Good music

  • the best kind!

  • @kharaf kick ass

  • @kharaf They've described it as Sampledelic

  • excellent.

  • Such talent

  • They're fabulous...the only thing I would say to the people who find it relaxing is... yes, I do totally, but don't you also find it makes you want to sway around the room? It's beautiful. Jazzy, druggy, and lovely.

  • @loobycliff

I certainly do agree with that statement :) x

At a party we played them on the spotify with blasting speakers and the vibe was so amazing :) x

  • @scotlandr

Hey...what a good idea - I'm having a party at mine next month so might have to try this out on people!

  • Yeah do it hah...alongside with some Rolf Harris and The Madness...yeah it was some playlist!

  • @scotlandr

Right now you're taking the piss :))

  • No...really that was on it haha, alot of people were pissed ;)

  • Vicky Bennet AKA People Like Us played this on her 'Do or Diy' show.. Absolutely brilliant. Check People Like Us out.. She has put me onto so much good stuff like this!!

  • Everything is sampled and pieced together perfectly. Excellent song.

  • Anyone know what the end sample is, that cuts in around 2:47?

  • this makes me feel weird :P

  • sounds a little bit like Flying Lotus samples

  • people underestimate how difficult it is to sample and make music like this

  • @jhnh95 yep!! to sample any loop is easy peasy! but to get the full effect and vibe u gotta do it real careful.... e.g. THE AVALANCHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @jhnh95 how is it hard? was kind of music is this?

  • @jhnh95 i write music and yep this is a very clver track love how mellow it is

  • @jhnh95 The entire album is a thing of wonder. I never tire of it, there is so much going on. Always uplifting. A thing of great beauty, and a bit challenging.

  • @kirkwallboy apparently the new record is much more challenging!

  • @jhnh95 If people don't do it who will?

  • @jhnh95 It's not they underestimate it. It is they don't know what this is mate.

  • @jhnh95 word

  • Dude I guarantee if you listen to their whole album just lying down on a pillow with a pair of headphones with your eyes closed, when you get up you will feel so woozy lol

  • Yeah, that's the point of this album. Relaxing.

  • @NarutosBoobs

Haha, I listened to the whole album while I was at work today, completely zoned out, definitely intergalactic.

  • Very plus indeed!

  • Still got the poster on my wall

  • what's the original song called?

  • The original song is called "Yu Ma/Go Away Little Boy" by veteran Jazz/Soul singer Marlena Shaw, on Columbia/CBS records. It was a big hit for her in 1977. You'll find it on Youtube.

  • @drwhatson you say rip off and destroy, and yet here's the song again (even if it's just the spirit of the song) alive and kicking

  • this is sick.

  • this makes me soo calm...i love it :D:D:D:D

  • OOH! YEAH!

  • remember the scene in Enter the Dragon in wich jim kelly is relaxing in his room and wearing those big 70s headphones?

he was listening to this ............lol

  • LOL! you win so much for saying that

  • dj dexter is a god

  • ohh just imagine the sweetest girl in the world, hugging you and singing this :)))

  • man you r so great >> that a great comment .

  • @Mgaak YES!

  • @Mgaak it would be kinda creepy to have a chick sing this to anyone friend....

  • @moomookachoo2

well 46 other ppl realized I meant this "lalala" not this manly voice earlier :)

  • @Mgaak just imagine me punching you in the face cause that's my girl, jk

  • @MrWillduke

You're both wrong she's 2 timing both of you with me.

  • oh nooooooooooooooo

    Love the music.

  • este material es increible ! es la mejor muestra de que si esposible poner alma en la musica electronica

    ritmos urbanos

  • genial

  • Awesome song, can't wait for another record from these chaps.

And boo to the music snobs who are trying to sound smart by picking on the timing.

  • Agreed!

  • This always conjures up an imagination of a long cool, summer evening. Lovely.

  • Indeed it does.

  • 1-2-3,4-5-6; beat on 1 & 4... you do the math.

  • 2 hearts in 3/4 = 6/8?

  • 3/4 cut time would be the same as 6/8

  • this was very very well thought out

  • Comment removed
