  • Not sure if someone else have pointed out. strictly speaking, you built a thrust bearing.

  • little kids might not be able to appreciate this but i have family working in the ball bearing industry for various applications so its a really nice idea

  • How did I get on the weird part of youtube again>?

  • WHOA WHOA WAIT!!... How did a Skyrim video get me here?

  • This costs about $60 in legos; purism hurts :[

  • this music makes me.. feel.. weird.

  • can it blend??

  • this sparks a genius idea indeed, old video but still genius in my opinion

  • Cool video.. if you guess. I thumbs up. Is it a rare lego piece?

  • I like the cult of luna playing xP Coulda picked somthing better from them to play though.. like.. Owlwood

  • what is the point of this?

  • @partaayqueen Reduced friction. There are ball bearings even in your bike.

  • @searme For non-engineers: reduce friction = reduced wear and necessary

force to rotate the device. But that usually isn't a big problem with Lego as the products doesn't get used as much as say, a bike (I would presume!) :] This is awesome though

  • @erkeurpurgwurg You could probably make an axial needle roller bearing with "cannonballs"? As a kid I had this pirate lego, with this cylindrical cannonballs. If I remember correctly you can also stack them, making a number of different lengths. I guess these cannoball parts are used to other things as well.

  • this music is making me so bored..

  • no top comment my turn to shine....... I like milk.... wait no thats stupid umm sometimes when im bored i go to the corner and pretend im a panda

  • lol potty humor XD

  • pretty snazzy. i never would have thought of that.

  • Tell me how this has ANYTHING to do with sparkler bombs... wtf

  • @glacialwings You mean how sparkler bombs have ANYTHING to do with this?

  • cool!

  • you dropped your balls lol

  • can i use the bionicle projectile balls instead?

  • @wooperpro yes they are the same thing but with diferent printng

  • Funny how people keep saying "How did I get here?" or "Why am I watching this?". 1st of all you wont end up here watching this if you NEVER clicked the link to this video. Dumbasses.

  • @fliptinkerz It's called a playlist. Youtube assumes you want to watch every video a guy has made just because you watch 2.

  • @UltimoQueso on the comment it says viewed by play;ist so umm ya u got served

  • MY BALLS!

  • Comment removed

  • lol. i searched for nazi zombies and then i slowly got to lego

  • It kinda looks like an oreo.

  • I have made beter, since these are done overlaping each other, they can fall apart. I found that one size rim + leg footballs + the motorbike tire (sorry, dont know the part numbers) if you add them together, its a nice smooth fit, and rolls perfectly

  • Cool creation. Awesome choice of song.

  • so THATS how oreos were made

  • Those pieces are Lego? It's changed quite a bit

  • Balls to the walls

  • this music is getting more attention than the video. ;p

  • You are brilliant as you've solved my praxinoscope base mechanism problem! Thank you!

  • There's a will, there's a way, huh?

  • BALLS TO YOU!!!!

  • @slugg087 about as depressing as the amount of time this person prob spent on this....=[

  • My balls!!!!!!! Sounds wrong

  • Did he build da ones in da pictures?

  • strange.

  • Great music!

  • Dudes, what the fuck are you commenting about this lego shit. I honeslty have no idea how I got here and don't get any of what these retro lego balls are for. As soon as I heard this minimalistic genius music, I had to know what it is and I can't find it anywhere amidst all these useless comments about balls and legos lol.

    What. is. this. song. ?.

It's turning into an obsession. I've heard it 487.5 times since yesterday

  • @YornMan In this case sir, this is "Waiting For You" by Cult Of Luna.

  • @searme

Never heard of them. Off to some music browsing.

    Thank you very much.

  • @YornMan me too man just woke up and randomly clicked this shit.

  • Just to emphasize

    WHAT SONG IS THIS?? :) :) :) :) :)

    SONG?

    THANK YOU UPLOADER!

  • I dig the song too!!

    What is it??

  • 2:64...Ehhhm

  • My balls! They have fallen out!

  • ...........my balls!.....8=====>

  • my balls!

  • i dont know what to think of this video:D

  • What song is this? I dig it.

  • Since the hubs (bearings) run deep in the groove of the ring, they CAN NOT fall out, unlike in the last shot of this video..

To keep it in place on its running surface, I used 2 small (8 tooth), free wheeling gears at east and west, and 2 driven (24 tooth) gears at north and south..

I know of a guy who built a 2.2 meter tall Demag 2800 replica using this method for the turntable - worked a treat.

soccer balls - ftl ... hubs - ftw

  • The soccer balls are a quaint touch, however, if you want it to actually work, you need to use small wheel hubs, (33 of them) in the groove on the underside of the hailfire wheel, with the hubs then running on a flat surface..

I've built a massive tower crane (with a 10 foot boom) using this method, and even with a 4 kilo counter weight, (total crane weight was over 10 kilos), a single, well geared down, 9 volt motor turned it easily..

  • What is this song? I MUST know!

  • ...cool

  • cool

  • ... why am I watching this...

    no offence...

  • @Micbo2k10 Because of the Internet, I guess.

  • @searme true lol hahaha :D

  • @Micbo2k10 lol man i get from watching a new gametrailer vid to a cow getting run over by a train.(btw guys theres vids on you about that) :)

  • with separators the friction would be reduced even more!

  • you need more balls haha

  • ohh thats how skateboard bearings work x3

  • I didnt think it was so loose

  • so creative

  • wat weed are you doing

  • @TomatoeJuicePowered lol! hahaha!

  • MY BALLS!! Lol!

  • i have the wheels from when my brother was 9 or something and i have the droid now

  • what balls jk

  • lol

  • so its great!!!

  • I laughed so hard when you said it takes about 40 but since there is an economic crisis we'll use 20

  • ps: why didn't you rotate the top tyre the oher way around, so the balls sit in the inside groove of both and not just the bottom one?

  • @1D0N There is a groove on both sides.

  • Rename that vid to: Lego football bearing :)

  • what song is playing in the background?

  • Goddamn! Cult of Luna - Waiting For You, from the album Salvation. Simply awesome!

  • I got the original set when it was still new, and the wheels are awesome, also, a small $3 bag of glass marbles works as good, if not better.

  • I don't think it would be to hard to build a cage to hold your balls.

  • i love the versitility of those hailfire droid, i love the fact there like 60 bucks each and i got the original set :D

  • @fiftiesdesign To be hu.. what?

  • your a asshole

  • @fiftiesdesign Geeky? If this is Geeky, I bet the demonstration of Pi seems alien to you, right?

  • @fiftiesdesign lol humen are geeky compared to any other animal

  • I think that kind of design can be traced back to Leonardo da Vinci. (Obviously not with LEGO, but with a wooden contraption.)

  • This would be perfect for a Lego train roundhouse, but you would need a hole in the table to compensate for the hieght of the ball bearing

  • RIght. I've read some guys considering using it in an outdoor train layout and putting it in a hole in the ground :)

  • Outdoor Train Layout? Poor Lego Bricks ;)

  • ha ha my balls! Ha Ha!

  • Thats not to bad, but if you want to accommodate bigger thrust loads, use Cylindrical rollers instead of spherical rollers

  • Use those rims that were found on many older technix sets, usually yellow or white. place them in the groove on top of some 1/2 by 3 long modern technic beams with the hole in the middle and the cross at each end. keeps it looking tidier too

  • dude, you have like the awsomest ideas ever!

  • Very nice presentation!

    NeXTSTORM

  • i like your vids

  • haha testicle joke.... classic

  • where can I buy such Ball as you use

  • At Bricklink, just like everything else.

  • ty i wonder a long time

  • It would be nice to see a radial ball bearing, too.

  • Nice balls you got there!

  • I think I'd rather hear it from a girl :)

  • whats the point of the balls spliting the two wheels y didnt u show a motorisd turntalbe lol my balls of couse they ur balls te he

  • Well, I thought it's pretty easy to motorize it considering that the wheels have internal teeth for gears already. I wanted to show the use of balls in a clear, well visible way.

  • MY BALLS! Lol 5/5

  • thatn would be a good base for a big turning lego crane or an excavator =)

  • Sure it would. I wanted to use it in a big bucket wheel excavator, but I only have 2 Hailfire Droid wheels, and I need these 2 for the bucket wheel :(

  • AWESOME!!!!

  • This simple machinerry is cool. 5/5.

  • My balls!

  • Hahahaha, so simple, yet so effective...

  • cool intro on the topic- love the ending

  • lol at the end my balls

  • Nice 5*5

  • Thats pretty smart
