@AsveestTTs who are you to say this is a border collie? does his snout imply this? because that is just silly. furthermore, watch the language. on the tail, i have an australian shepherd and he was born bobbed. i get tired of hearing ignorant people complain that it was cruel to dock my puppy. he was born that way, and real aussie owners who own the aussie bible, 'all about aussies,' know that this can be the case in over half of the pups.
This video gave me hope. My mini Aussie is craving the herding experience. She is not well socialized; she is two years old. How many sheep should I start with? Does it matter? I have access to a 12 sheep herd.
@jbnewberry9691 Sorry, I'm just now responding to your question. It all depends on his lifestyle and social skills. I'm not an expert on aussies, but starting them early is the key for any training. Find out if there is any area nearby where you can take him to see his skills. I live in the city, but drive 30 mins. to take Ella. It's so worth it. I hope this helps in some way. Good luck and again sorry for the delay.

@AsveestTTs It says it's an Aussie Shepherd, and these dogs can be born with a natural bobbed tail.

Only 8 months old, wow! My Aussie is almost 4. Is he too old to train for herding?
How do I know if he may be suited for it if I don't live on a farm with sheep? We're in a suburban neighborhood.
