I bought a capanalyzer 88a from EDS years ago(~$189). It's got an LED scale and designed mainly for SMDs (probes are flimsy) but it does the job. I like your use of the analog meter.
Giving credit where it's due. When I buit this, I based the design on a number of circuits I found online. I recently went searching for what I used as references. A big part of this project was based on the desire here: //members.shaw.ca/swstuff/esrmeter.html

@Radiowild Hi Bob. Thanks! It is useful, but just to be clear, it really is only good for finding large value caps (>1uF) that have excessive ESR. Caps that are open will look like very high ESR, but caps that are shorted will look good (low resistance). Plus this meter will not show a changed value.
