Great singer/ songwriter. My absolute fave of his compositions is " Let the Sunshine In" as recorded by the Liverpool Five in 1966. It's turned up on You Tube and is well worth checking out...RIP Teddy
@Roxsox221 " Let the Sunshine In" was one of my alltime faves from Teddy....that Liverpool Five version on You Tube is a knockout...a must for all Randazzo fans.
Fell in love with The Way of ... while in single digits. The blessed mum went to great lengths to find the 45 for me, adding. this is from a great opera. Il Pagliacci (The Clown). The most famous aria, and one asscoated with both mario lanza (hollywood tenor of gt passion, range) and his hero, Caruso. Then she played me both of those guys. That was it. 50 years of ever gter opera bliss. All started with Teddy. Enrich your life! Get into opera!

I have this 45, but I also have the same one by Teddy in which he sings it entirely in Italian! Magnificent! You would never think a guy who sang Cinnamon Sinner could hit those power notes. He was great! Joe
My Aunt Dot was president of his fan club...She lived on a farm in St. David, New York. My cousin Linda went to NYC to meet Teddy and I envied her so....He would have loved me...so sad!
Wow! I had not heard this song since the early sixties! He had a 33 rpm LP album called TNT, and I think it was there. A nice upload indeed. Thank you.
This was on my radio the other day on a nostalgia programme. The beginning sounds a bit like the start of the Godfather love theme ( Speak Softly Love ).
@dynasue77 Actually part of the melody is classically based. The same basic melody matrixed "My Empty Arms" by Jackie Wilson and "When There's No You" by Engelbert Humperdinck.
Gerry Dorsey's first hit Release me was not until 1967 which was well after this song, Teddy Randazzo went on to pen such hits as Going Out Of My Head, It Hurst So Bad and I'm On The Outside Looking In, hits for Little Anthony and The Imperials and sung by people like Frank Sinatra
Use your head no one is saying that an Italian boy from NYC did not borrow a classic Italian opera motif for let's say this song which the beginning reminds me of Paliacchi, it just does not seem logical it came from a Humperdink tune since it was recorded in 1960, 7 years before Humperdinks first hit , It was just a reply not an edict, perhaps many songs including the one of Engelberts you are alluding to come from the same borrowed melody
@nickellodeon55 Yes, but Jackie Wilson did the Entire tune by Leoncavallo as "My Empty Arms" ( a top 10 hit) , Teddy only used a little bit of the melody...but I LOVE this...It's the only song of his that got airplay in Los Angeles and one of the first records I ever bought...Teddy was a musical Genius!!! His first HUGE hit was probably "Pretty Blue Eyes" for Steve Lawrence.
I had a photo of him in Hawai before he passed on , still a goodlooking devil with a full head of grey hair, he is sorely missed , you can still access clips of those early rock movies he was in on youtube, and there are some songs on here from his group The Chuckles here as well.
A fabulous track this guy in my opinion was a fantastic singer only found him on youtube and everything i have heard from him is great cheers for the upload!!!!!!!!!!
Check Teddy out in the film "Rock, Rock,Rock," with Tuesday Weld...he sings a great number "You'll Have The Things Your Heart Needs," or possibly "When It Comes To Love," great singer!
I know I''ll probably take some grief for this comment but I wonder what Phil Spector might have done with this song in terms of his incredibly keen rock sensibilities. The musical sub-text here seems more 50s, or even 40s, than 60s pop, let along rock. BTW, I like this song a lot and played it a lot when I was 14-15.
eddy Also played in Mr. Rock and Roll and Rock , Rock, Rock. Little Anthony and The Royalettes are two of his groups. He was a tremendous talent behind the scenes.
Though Teddy had a nice voice, he never really made it big as a singer..he performed in an Allan Freed Movie and In "The Girl Can't Help It" with his group "The 3 Chuckles!!!! That movie starred Jayne Mansfield..and featured Little Richard, The Platters...and others...Teddy wrote/produced dozens of hits for many artists...not only in Rock and Roll, but for Sinatra and Steve Lawrence (Pretty Blue Eyes) both were very good friends of Teddy's.
Teddy I know he sung Italian and I am sure it was it first done in Italian this was one of my favorites. He made everyone proud in our old Neighborhood, Red Hook Brooklyn. He passed to soon.
I will never for the life of me understand why a fantastic song like this only just made it to N0.44 on the American Billboard Top 100 in 1960, he was a great singer and writer and wrote, amongst others, two of my favourite Little Anthony and Imperials tracks - 'Reputation' and 'Take Me Back'. Again both excellent tracks that deserved to go much higher on the charts. He died in his sleep on Nov.21 2003.
@keith490783 This record was getting a lot of airplay in 1960 when all of a sudden it was pulled by every station in the country. The rumor is it hit a nerve with a big record executive. He said i don't ever want this record again and that's what happened. Every station in the country stopped playing it the same day and years later you can't even hear it as an oldie.
I have looked for this song for ages and thought it was lost forever. Thank God my daughter knows computers better than me and I told her what I was looking for and she found it. Thanks so much for someone who also likes this song and downloading it.
@alex9367 This record was on the way to be a #1 record in 1960 but it hit a nerve with a record executive, he said I don't ever want to hear this song again and they pulled it from the radio stations, all these years you don't even hear it as an oldie.
@alex9367 Listen to the words, i make you laugh when you're blue, that way i can be close to you, while i make you laugh someone else thrills your heart, that's the way of a clown. There were rumors when every station in the country pulled this record at the same time.
My wife's favorite song. Whatever happened to him anyway ?

What's really strange is I've been a friend of Teddy Jr for at least 10 years and had no idea his dad was a pop star! How's that for low key!

@rakeuiff Randazzo adapted it first (1960), then Jackie Wilson (1961), and then Humperdinck (1971). Credit where credit is due.

Thank you sir! Keep the sounds coming...Leoncavallo should be credited with Caruso and Lanza working totally (i guess) legit
in 1907 and 1954. I like other songs too...until I heard Humperdinck's version I thought the lyrics were "No More Rice Krispies".
