this is frighteningly far from "restoring sight", alas. To do that properly one needs an eyeball with (motor nerves intact. And these motor nerves have to be backfed into the artificial imaging scanner (initiating saccades , etc. when necessesary.
Most tricky part would be to perfectly align the artificial electronic retina (placed on the eyeball) with retinotopic nerve formations (axon to electrode). This is likely 2 centuries away. We need superior organ growing tech and computer tech.
lol i had an idea to hook up a small video cmera onto the eye area and have it wire into your brain of coruse that probably wouldve blwon up in my face considering id have no idea wear to wire it into the brain O_o... lol
Any way to make it smaller like cell phones. Star Trek had a blind guy that had glasses that went around his head, i wouldnt mind that to become a reality.
I think youd be happy to at least get a rough grid as opposed to solid blackness. You could at least tell where people were moving, etc. You would feel much more connected to the environment you are in.
ya i've been looking up on this thing alot, and it has even been tested on news anchors and people that have been blind for 25 years. This one guy they had try it and he said that when he was a kid he loved to play cards "so what do they do, They set him up with this thing and he was able to tell them the number and suit of the cards, it's very bazzare but a very unique amazing project! :D
nice work ... but did the guy at 1:30 say "sucking off" haha (yeah I know it wasnt english)
