  • So sieht das aus wenn ich mit meiner perle ficke

  • I've tried this shit... it's fairly hard to get used to doing it right, but once you get it down, it's pretty effective.

  • that should fuck up the wrist pretty well

  • this doesnt work well in real fights tho. better to just parry or just do lateral movement

  • blocks aren't well understood at all outside of the Okinawan karate community. You don't block to prevent getting hit, you block to hurt your opponent's arm or leg, throw their balance off and not get hit. I've taken out several kickboxers because they would hurt their legs on my forearm and elbow. At any rate, blocks aren't always blocks. You can knock an opponent's guard out of the way for your strike as well. They're just so much versatile than the way they're taught and trained.

  • @elenchus amen! what about the fact that in this use its drawing your opponent off balance and into your center-line (where the power is)? good shit! Now let go of all that recoil built up and send that gray bitch flying!

  • @elgrau1 You mention recoil, and I just wanted to say that I've been rediscovering uchi uke, not so much as a block, but as a way to take the guard out since the motion (inside to outside) of the "block" shares the same rotation as the imminent reverse punch you throw. So soto uke seems to have that pre-coiling effect, and uchi uke is post coiling.

  • @elenchus sorry im not too familiar with karate terms :P coiling and uncoiling is bad ass though.

  • LOL, even in the animation the original punch wouldnt have hit, similar to the way it would be drilled.. USELESS

  • awesome videos but there 30 seconds long and all have a ad at 15 seconds is driving me nuts.....!

  • @gohan40129 the video sucks

  • wow i love how all these human weapon portrayal asian martial arts do an example of the shittiest punch thrown possible. no one in their right mind would do such a punch that leaves you completely unguarded and completely obvious and dodgeable. they need to show this move used against lets say ... boxers that actually know how to punch

  • @Azn69Knight derp retard thats only a basic block for say 1 step sparing or 3 step in free sparing its different

  • These guys who narrate this show obviously do not train in Karate. You never block hard.

  • it works!

    ...if you fight in 2D

  • hello fellow martial artists. my friend has made a facebook page called "Martial art skill wins the fight, not the style". feel free to visit the page and share some ideas, beliefs, subjects etc. if you plan on posting on the page please be mature and respectful. no one wants to read a childish cursing rant. if you would like to see right now, type facebook.com, copy and paste this afterwards

    /pages/Martial-art-skill-wins-the-fight-not-the-style/305624119454508

  • too bad this move won't work on the streets, most people just aim at your head

  • i just saw this in my japanese class

  • okay now you deflected his punch...but now you turned your uper body and is in a very sitty position to counter attack - wing chun knows how to do this correctly

  • Wing chun technique are more abt defense and let you more opportunitys of counter by being in the right angle and karete make you in an strange angle to counter plus by the time you are turned the other guys may attack again so Wing chun power!

  • @IceTigerz Wing Chun utilizes both attack and defense at the same time. You have two hands. One intercepts, the other attacks.

  • @WeaponXAnimosity Yes i know but you have to deviate the attack of the other person and then counter-attack him while other martial arts like muay-thai use elbow and knee thus leaving space for the opponent to strike back- it focuses more on attacking while winh chun is counter attack but its still good , good defense makes good offense

  • @WeaponXAnimosity yeah i know but wing chun focuses more on couter attacking while other MA like muay-thai using knee and elbow leaves more spaces for the opponent to strike back but i still think wing chun is better- a good defense makes a good offense

  • This won't work in a streetfight. :( No one punches that way! All they try to do is take you to the ground!

  • @narutomaniac100 Yes, no one punches that way but not all poeple try to take you to the ground. More common is the popular wild haymaker punches on after another.

  • to a COUNTER STRIKE :D

  • So they dont have ballz.what gender are they and what program they using

  • parry, check, strike

  • Hahaha the comment below

  • wax on wax off sand the floor paint the fence paint the house

  • They have no penises

  • @Alex3Pic do you always focus at watching if people have penises in video clips?

  • i thought this is a parry not blocking....

  • the hand next to his body is meant for a second attack, also his is now in a good position to hold you and knee you in the face or stomach

  • I don't know about anyone else but no ones has ever tried to punch me in the nipple.

  • I would kick my opponent in the balls.

  • Karate looks more effective then it looks 30 seconds ago i was thinking it was shit but the way im seeing it now is karate is very effective its just it takes much much longer to master

    my opinion = /

  • Uke Se..nn deve spingere la mano avversaria ,ma bloccarlo ..almeno nel whu-shu è cosi!!!

  • Ye in karate at least my style(shotokan) the name of this block is Soto uke.Attention.The meaning of this block is not hiting the oppenents arm to stop it but to push it.

  • TROY

  • or just wax your dad's car or paint your house, or paint your fence or something like that

  • Looks like a guy who couldn't decide between soto uke and gedan barai. Maybe it's some style other than Shotokan. It's all good if it works.

  • "With the moving momentum of your hand, grabbing your opponents balls and twisting them in a rotating fashion you exert a force equal to 3 tons, by then pushing them into his asshole you create a force of 4 tons, enough to pull them out of his mouth"

  • @RasiumLane LMAO!

  • The problem with karate is, that many instructors are just students themselves, who can not be bothered to learn for 10+ years to get any good skill in the art and there for lack the final understanding. In many TMAs instructors give you basic, incomplete techniques at the beginning so those that are not true in their journey for knowledge shall drop out. Only after several years will you be given in-depth detail of techniques and real-life applications. That's why we have so many bad "masters"

  • @nabapoisu Very well put!!!

  • the whole action involves moving your body out of the way of the punch anyway, its a waste of energy to use force to block a punch that is no longer a threat to you it also leaves you open to atack just as much as does ur opponent

  • @radon46widget the block is used to hit back, karate blocks are taught forcefully because your attempting to hurt them as much as your blocking. and moving your body in that matter in a fast hip motion brings great power in your counter straight or hook, whatever kind of punch you wish to throw. though i always use a sweeping motion, not a straight down forearm block.

  • Never never never keep you rear guard hand on your hip EVER.

  • @folioboards this is karate.

  • @folioboards rear guard hand on ones hip is taught to beginners in karate to understand their own body mechanics, dont tell me you actually think karatekas fight this way in real life? in real life natural stances are encouraged. starting punches from hip is a teaching method not an actual technique. it is primarily for kinesthetic perception. karate stresses this alot in its teaching.

  • Wax on, wax off

  • But what if you make the block too low and get punched in the nuts?

  • @glassesfreak thats why its imprtant to pivot your hips as well so youre out of the line of fire

  • @glassesfreak That's exactly why I've never been shown this block. Hitting it like that could just lead to you pushing the punch down lower, it's better to sweep it away with gedan barai.

    Freaking TV shows.

  • ok thanks mysterious guy in the background. I will now fight Chick Norris

  • I love that the majority of responses are from untrained keyboard warriors....

  • Hitler's dick.

  • karate is stupid, what does anyone tell you when u get in a fight as a kid "keep your hands up" so why the fuch would be a need to 1 step into a punch so much so that if you miss your body momentum is fuckedd and keeping your hand at your rips/hips is a bad idea to begin with...

  • @ty99999returns because those are the very basics.

  • @ty99999returns i did your mom. dont make fun of any type of martial arts.

  • @perez0852 your did is just as useless as karate. good luck kid.

  • @perez0852 you dick is just as useless as karate

  • @ty99999returns I thought someone would reply to your comment that wouldn't be about having intercourse with someones mother but oh well. Anyways, the place of a hand to a hip is not used in a fight but it is fundamental to beginners just like @VpY22 stated. In an actual fight, Karate teaches you to always keep you're hands up whether it is sport or self defense. It is not useless at all and is great in fighting. Chuck Norris federation is a deadly Karate style.

  • @MagicGorillaProd Chuck Norris is an actor.... keeping ur hands up is good as long as they arnt too far down away from your head to block head kicks (fuck karate kid shit).

  • @ty99999returns Chuck Norris isn't just an actor, just like Bruce lee. Yeah, the Karate Kid stuff is stupid besides the story line.

  • this is not a uchi uke its an shoto Uke fail -.-'

  • wrong uke -_-

uchi uke is from inside to out

shoto uke is from out to in

  • lol the guy wouldn have reached the other one anyway xD

  • Why is it you never see these in a karate competition. They always seem to just take the punch.

  • @toyhut2 because they panic or just lose there thought in the moment. you understand how hard it is to concentrate once your in a real fight

  • well depending on the style this block is either know as soto uke or a uchi uke.

  • WHATTAFUCK? This is Soto Uke, not Uchi Uke O_O

  • where is the trophy list? :P

  • who the heck punches below ur head?

  • @amessenger4god78 Name any martial arts that uses striking techniques because they'll teach you body shots. Never heard of them before?

  • I knew someone who did taekwondo once... He was a black belt and was a regional champ... he got stabbed in the head with a knife by a 13 yr. old kid while walking home one night... sadly he didnt make it... :(

  • ehm yeah why not just grab the arm and pull him out of balance?

if you got time to sidestep+hit his arm then you can grab him and pull down also

  • @docleader99 did u ready the title? it says block

  • It's not soto ude uke or uchi ude uke. It's otoshi uke.

  • hmmm good to know

  • silver surfer knows martial arts? i thought he relies on his superpowers alot?

  • @Masa857 HAHAHAHAHAHAHA -.-

  • i guess marial arts are lifesavers incase the surfers powers gets stripped away.

  • @Masa857 but where his board?

  • @Masa857 I guess firing balls is not really that helpful when we take a look how he falls from his board by touching the floor. Talking about NES game.

  • No one punches like that, or that low.

  • Assuming the attackers second fist isnt already flying at your face. Of all the martial arts ive seen, I think karate should stick to the movies. Not saying its completley useless, but compared to what you could use to defend your life, id pick krav or something else.

  • @Snapshot290 I won't even go into detail about why I will always call Karate my foundation as a fighter. However, the point I'm replying is that you act like Karateka are idiots and single minded from your first sentence. Of course we're ready for a second punch. That's nothing but the most basic of drills. I don't want to get into a heated argument. I practice Uechi Ryu, and have my opinions about some other forms as well. But at the end of the day, your experience defends your life.

  • @Snapshot290 In the immortal words of Antione Dodson...YOU ARE SO DUMB!!!!!

  • Uchi Uke? there is something wrong here... that is a Gedan Barai!

  • No, in Shotokan Karate the name of this block is Soto Uke

  • @Pablokihon It's not soto uke. Soto uke is diffrent..

  • @Olympian961

Yeah, Soto uke has a swing to it, outside block?

  • @MichaelTheSilageMan Well Soto uke is a block that comes from outside to inside with rotation. watch?v=deN3wQLe5PY thats the soto uke.

  • @Olympian961

    Yes, I know, I do Shotokan :)

  • @Olympian961

    Yes, I know, I do Shotokan :)

If anything that block is a practical application od Gedan Barai.

  • @Pablokihon Isn't Soto Uke from the side of your body --> swiping to the other side as a block instead of swiping from up --> down?

  • @Pablokihon Yeah our sensei in Karate always shouts: "Peter! Do Karate Punch Blocking Technique!"

  • @Priority64 Our boxing coach just says: "Hurry up and drop your dick so you can drop his punches you moron!"

  • @Priority64 lol my names also peter

  • @petpain and that was the funny thing you noticed ._____.

  • @Pablokihon personally i find it inferior to wing chuns block because of the fact it puts you at an odd angle for a counter strike compared to wing chun.

  • @Ancientneutrality Wing Chun doesn't block. It intercepts. If you're blocking, you're using force against force. Exactly what Wing Chun isn't about.

  • @Pablokihon It's not Soto!! It's Otoshi Uke!! Soto is from outside to inside!

  • @rollguy85 thats what this is

  • @Pablokihon same in kyokushin

  • @Pablokihon Kyokushin to :) but it's not exactly soto uke :))

  • Wt (arm) = BW.0.051. Glad I found that out.

  • if this is uchi uke, I'm a cow. A super intelligent cow which can type 95 words per minute. Uchi uke, seriously...

  • @ARdotSTEALTH You're stupid you more susceptible to a shot to the solarplex or liver. You can use a short quick left hook to the liver, mind that its not full power 25% or so and drop them with ease

  • @tipman444 The way he's doing it is wrong.

  • @ARdotSTEALTH

Ever been punched in the belly? :(

  • Ta errado essa defesa Isso se chama SOTO UKE , mas nao esta definida,,

UCHI UKE SERIA A DEFESA DE DENTRO PRA FORA!!

  • that wasnt an uchi uke

  • @lostinspacex

No shit. That was a soto uke.

  • @Da1RiSiN1sMoKe nope its more like a gedan barai

  • lmao the white one always wins

  • plus to anyone who doesnt think it can work in more aggressive combat sports, i do muay thai and MMA to, and i blocking an overhand right with an age uke has alwas done the trick for me, and leg kicks with a gedan berai (as long as i keep one hand to my chin to block any counters) has always worked for me to, im 4-0-1 at the moment, so it must be doing something!

  • this show ruins the identity of martial arts, most karate clubs hand out black belts to anyone dumb enough to pay for them, but there are a few classes out there like the one i trained at for 13 years (and only just got my black belt after 11) which are the real deal, and dont use half assed blocks like this, that doesnt even look like a gedan berai OR an uchi uke, uchi uke is across your body from the left to right, blocking a punch to the chest, and your fist should end up pointing to the sky

  • @ohmybettyswallocks I use this block all the time while sparring in my Dojo it is actually really effective because once I do the block I am able to use my elbow to strike his head really effective when executed correctly and even though I may be a white belt yellow in another week blocking is one of my strongest things aside from kicking which are my second strongest abilities but all in all it is not a half ass block it is really effective when done correctly

  • @Nightguy00 its effective for a single straight punch, which never happens in true combat, on the street or in the ring, too many clubs these days teach self defence and combat without even fighting full contact, so you have no killer instinct, which trust me you need in the ring and on the street. i do thai boxing as well, and these kind of blocks against thai kicks will NEVER, EVER work, i do karate also, and respect it, but modern karate should be modified to defend against other martial arts

  • Comment removed

  • @ohmybettyswallocks

well i train in shotokan karate full contact the "no bs" israeli way . and the block that shown in this program

its not even a "by the book" and a disgrace even to call it karate .

against combo of punches it should look more like violent and bruising version of "sticky hands" defense , vs kicks it works like a charm if u have the common sense 2 intercept it in its less lethal zone , i mean as much closer to the knee as u can ,bottom line if u know how 2 it'll l work great

  • @ohmybettyswallocks I don't agree , those kind of blocks work , you should learn them better ... it's 15 years I use the same karate block tecniques when i fight in Kick boxing , Thai-boxe ,kick-jitsu , tae kwon do...sometimes also in Boxing

  • @ohmybettyswallocks

I totally agree. I do Taekwondo.

  • NO FUCKING SHIT YOU COCK SUCKERS!!!

  • Guys, it's someone moving their hand towards the center of their body to block a punch, a million different variations exist, but anyone claiming it "doesn't work" is just some keyboard warrior. This is probably one of the most common blocks there is and exists in (probably) every pugilistic form of combat...you may not like this variation but claiming it could never work is just showcasing your own ignorance of a simple, effective tactic.

  • Machida straight left!

  • And if the man is twice our size? xD

  • no too intresting

  • What if its coming at ur face, wat then?

  • @phanable1 damn .... ur right !!! ..... in karate you just learn this single blocking technique !! .... fuck we are screwed ... good u noticed !

  • @RushMyEx thank you

  • @phanable1 u noticed the sarcasm in my comment ?

  • @RushMyEx haahahhahahahaha. yes i did.

  • soto uke? it looks quite like gedan barai to myself but ur rite it could be used as soto uke. Mr Katushya

  • The guy couldn't have hit him even if he didn't block... in case nobody noticed, he was too far away.

  • What is the dark grey guy aiming for? karate is gay...

  • @WiseSurf He is aiming for Solar plexus, I had a sparing fight with a guy who never trained in martial arts couple of months ago and he was attacking in this way even phoning his punches so this is very natural move and also a good defense you just have to shorten the regular scool block. Also if I wanted to I could have ended the fight with this blocks since they are painfull but I felt sorry for the dude since I already did the same thing with his legs by blocking, they were swolen for 3 days.

  • @Theseus1000 thank you for the explaination and not being pissed off lol

  • I use this in Boxing and didn't even know it was from karate.

  • @Thebombjizz I think it's a bit different than boxing's parry because Karate blocks with their bone to hurt the opponent's arm.

  • its so soto uke

  • Comment removed

  • @Macdaita I don´t know if this is a uchi uke or not...but it's not a gedan barai. Gedan Barai it's used to protect the groin.

  • @MrKatushya Its soto uke, its just litle bit shortend so you do it from your guard and not from all the way back like in kihon, its how its sopposed to be used in real fights. And gedan barai is main defense against mae geri, it should be exelent against thai push kick as well if you don't beleve it just hit your leg with your arm a little bit from the side and you will see :) remember little bit because it hurts lige hell :)

  • thats not a uchi uke, thats perhaps an gedan barai but not an uchi uke^^

  • It's not a block, it's a parry. There is a difference.

  • im sorry sir, this is total bullshit, whatever the hell that is it isnt karate, more of a half soto uchi, half gidan barai, oh and one more thing, tell the silver surfer to check his fist, should remain on the hip :)

  • im sorry sir, this is total bullshit, whatever the hell that is it isnt karate

  • why the fuck is he aiming to his chest ?

  • this is Soto Uke, not Uchi Uke...

  • And This is a wrong moviment!!!

  • it isn't uchi uke, it's nagashi uke

  • When you fight someone does your guard need to be up as in infront of your face? :)

  • This isn't Uchi Uke - it's more like Otoshi Uke

  • i have to try that

  • Comment removed

  • this ain't uchi uke

  • @FiKiNiOLKA Agreed.

More a bad combination of Shoto Uke and Osai Uke...

  • Wt arm = BW x 0.051?

    Wtf is this?

  • @DarrenLiu123 thats the scientific equation for the deflection u can use it to theoretically calculate the force applied during the contact

  • be more open to a counter strike 1.6

  • Ahh Fighting my favorite science :3

  • The block didn't rotate --'

  • Well, this block is a perfect opportunity for a wing chun practicioneer.... Bong Sau.. and whoop di whoop :D

  • @Tebra991

    Hunga Ga practitioners also ^^

For a punch like this, i would prefer to use Kiu Sao. Bong Sau i prefer for leg kicks and uppercuts. Gum Gao Gin Sao for most hooks.

  • The harder you block, the more busted up BOTH OF YOU PEOPLE'S arms are gonna be.

  • @JSDominos you are a retard training and conditioning of the arms make it so easy to block hard and hurt the other person while blocking I trained karate for 13 years and I blocked like this and I never got hurt and always hurt the otehr person. so please reserve your ignorant comments to yourself.

  • Karate is a load of crap!

  • @CPO121 so is what your mom taught you

  • @CPO121 Boxing is crap too.... if your opponent is Muay Thai...

    Dickhead

  • @CPO121 Protip: Shut the hell up. Nobody cares that you made a lucky pick on a UFC fight; your lucky pick isn't worth a pube. Also, nobody likes you.

  • Paint the fence!
