Indeed, you have to becareful about charities for Africa. a lot of them are usually fraud setup by some Nigerian man who is savy with the internet.

Or the donating money never makes it to the intended receivers and finds it's way into the dictator or rebel's hands.

I want to make sure my money goes directly towards the park rangers and to the people living with in the park.

Don't you think we can learn a lot from our history? Besides history repeats itself. And sure living in the present is still much the same. Darfur? South Africa? India? Iraq? Afghanistan? Millions have died in the past ten years and are currently still suffering a lot! I don't know how you could sleep at night being so ignorant as saying our world is fine and stable. Go live in a fourth world country and you'll know how peaceful and diplomatic humans are. And of course I hope for our future!

You have men protecting the wildlife all over the continent. Peta is clear example! This is not an isolated case, the amazon is another example. The last time i check it wasn't in Africa. The forest plains of British Columbia in Canada is also another example, you have men protecting these areas against big logging corps/companies - who care nothing about wildlife.

God bless those brave park rangers... it's absolutely ridiculous that these people don't even receive adequate pay for putting their lives on the line every day protecting such a valuable resource. While the West is responsible for some of the turmoil making the situation in the region more suitable for dictatorships to arise, it is not entirely its fault, as most of these African countries are controlled by tyrannical dictators who oppress the people, forcing some of their best to leave.

I think 888zzz has a point. it is a complex problem ,many interconnecting issues ,corrupt goverments being one .. but the profit motive of business has also caused a lot of problems . Alot of habitat destruction is caused by mining for the mineral coltran in the Congo which is a central component in mobile phone construction, not to mention the appalling conditions that the people who extract it work under. It can be connected to the most personal level of Western overconsumption.
