I think they also updated the dresses, between season 4 & 5 opening, that Laverne & Shirley wear when they meet in opening the two doors (Laverne, the closet and Shirley the front) and also the outfit the Edna wears when she kisses Frank at the Pizza Bowl (the also showed Frank's white hair and mustache for the first time in an opening in season 5). If you notice the dresses that L&S wear are more in keeping with what women would have worn in 1963 - 64 when season 5 eps are set.
@sneezyize Also if you notice in the updated scenes, the 1's at the Pizza Bowl (both for Laverne & Edna), L&S at the 2 doors & also the new 1 w/ Carmine & sandwich -- Laverne & Edna's hair is more in keeping w/ what looks like new bouffant hairstyles that would been seen in 1963 - 64 w/ many women of those 2 years. Laverne's hair, even if it wasn't true, in those newly added or updated scenes actually looks like she has set w/ dippity-do that would have also been appropriate in '63 - '64.
@pimpdogpatrick The 80's did rule!!! to bad we were born IN the 80's and not a bit before so we could of enjoyed it more. I was 1983, how about you? *high fives* Miss those days.
I saw another upload of this same video and it was in a higher pitch. That's also the exact same way how I saw it when I watched the show on Nick@Nite.
There are only 4 seasons of L&S on DVD. How about this one? Is there a chance that it will be sometime available too?? I've read somewhere, that starting from the 5th season the production place was different...
I'm black, I know what the projects mean, LOL. What happened to your ex best friend. I would have loved to see you two in action as Laverne and Shirley.
Were gonna make our dreams come true, were gonna doit...yes one of my fave daytime sitcoms, it was a little fake and hypothetical ..they had laid back easy ging personalities Lenny and Squiggy (not a care in the world) 2 cul doodes...I repeat two cool dudes.. taht's what they were... they copped a feel of their chicks and left whenever they pleased...(the girls were NOT bitchy... they never pursued to get their driver's licenses etc...)
Careful....Careful.... A Lot of us here watched it too. The fact that we all love the show and characters is the whole point of this. If you thought it was so "Terrible," why did you even watch it in the first place?
1979-1980 season. Did anyone else notice that Frank forgets to raise his hand in the air to catch the pizza dough when kissing Edna? He did so in the original theme, but apparently forgot to do so when they updated it for this season.
and notice how you can see the shadow of someone throwing the dough over his head as well! And now that you've gotten me started, notice when Laverne drops the tray of beer how it looks set up like the "staged" the whole thing. But it was nice to see it up dated.
Did you two also notice how pissed Shirley looks when she is riding Laverne down the street on the bike? She didn't actually smile until the very end.
After doing some research I discovered that you were right, the show was on for eight seasons. The first season threw me off since it was really only a half season with only about 15 episodes. So, that would indeed make this the season five theme.
I believe it was on for seven seasons? The show ran from 76 to 83. And the last three seasons were in CA for sure.
I always thought the last season without Cindy Williams was pointless. The show would have ended much more complete if they had ended with Cindy Williams last episode.
I totally agree. I only enjoyed the opening credits because of the kids doing the schlameel, schlamzel part, other than that, that season truly sucked.
I always thought that this was season 5 because the show was on for 8 years and the last three seasons were in California. But It has been many years and my memory is slipping.
Always loved this show. One of the BEST theme songs of all time, makes me feel
like a kid again hearing it!
