What happens when the minimum wage is raised? It makes perfect economic sense. Employers are not going to take a loss because Congress is making them pay more! What are they a charity? No Way! Employers are going to charge more for their goods and services thereby negating the raise that these people just received. It makes no sense. nkruk-if a large company is forced to pay increased wages, how will they recoup thisexpense? Of course, they will pass this expense on to the consumer. What if the consumer has a foreign alternative which is now less expensive? Assuming quality is equal, the consumer will obviously buy the less expensive item. What if this same large company is not paying a fair wage to their employees and the government does not interfere? The employees will travel to the employer with the greatest return..
