  • Looks like you could wind up with roasted nuts while steering. Probably nice in the winter but it looks like it might be hot in the summer.

  • How fast can it go?

  • @arndtnew3 hard to measure

  • top speed?

  • @thebigmann25 hard to measure

  • That appears to be an Ariens steering wheel, similar to the one on my mower.

  • @lburbo23 yes, steering wheel is from an old ariens lawn tractor

  • lol. nic boat

  • what did you use for a gearbox, and how did you set up the shaft. I'm thinking of making one myself with a ten horse. Pretty awesome boat!!

  • @subaru47911 It's not a gearbox it's an adjuster for the prop angle, to give it different ratios, but also neutral and reverse. It was in the boat when I got it, and I don't know who made it.

  • whats that boat called or where can you get an inboard boat that small?

  • So glad to see young talent, after I left High school I worried about kids after me. I hope your creativity spreads like wildfire.. I like the steering wheel sprocket. My question is. What did you use for the drive shaft and propeller? Also how did you seal the transom? Thanks!!

  • How well does that engine move that boat? im planning on building an 8 ft boat. I have a 3 hp briggs with a shaved head so its a little hot rodded. i also have a 5 hp that needs rebuilt. would my 3 horse move it okay?

  • @NathansBackwoods 3Hp sounds a bit small to me, but it doesen't hurt trying the 3hp first, if it doesn't work, you can just put the 5hp in, or something bigger.

  • @kiarra00, I saw a 5hp on a 14 ft boat, it scooted pretty good...so the 3 hp should do okay on an 8 ft, probably more like 4hp now...I will try it. Thanks

  • That boat's seriously awesome man

  • @KrankieV2 Thank's man!

  • Fuck that!

  • that's sweet watch your fingers though!

  • you should put a video on of it at full speed

  • @thebigmann25 Yeah, I know that would be fun, but the boat has been sitting on land for a long time, just don't have time for it anymore. I might sell it to a friend of mine.

  • how did u MAKE THe turning

  • so this boat had every thing like the shaft and motor alredy built in it. cuz if it dident how would a person like me get plans to build something like this

  • @renton7585 It had a different motor in it, I modified it to fit a snowblower engine, I also custom made the steering setup, the rest wasn't made by me so I don't now a lot about how it was done or if it's built after drawings

  • @kiarra00 do you know what the boat was called and if there are other like it. by the way thanks for answering me. i plan on making one similar to yours but with a brigs motor i beefed up with a turbo. its really funny cuz i went from a 20 hp to like 50 since i added it on and did some other stuff like that, but really thanks if i could get the name of the boat or know what kind of boat its called it would be much appreciated

  • Wow you went so fast you went back in time.

  • is that big bear lake ? looks like the observatory

  • @freeridemtb2 it's at sea

  • I got that same motor on my Go Kart. The thing is a freakin beast. Weighs like 70+ pounds. I have a video of it on my channel

  • I had the same ieda inboard with a keel though ,,what kind of waterproof bearing do you use where prop is to keep boat dry and does motor setting at a slight angle hurt it [oil pump]?

  • @fullstrutn It just uses a bearing with an O-ring at the end, mutch like a car engine crankshaft end seal, it doesen't hurt the engine sitting in a very small angle like this one, but if it's more, it could not get proper lubrication.

  • i was thinking you could take a small motorcycle motor and extend the shaft from the drive sprocket and make that lil bugger scream!

  • I wonder how far you can go on one gallon of gas.

  • wow man good job, nice project!

  • @solidfilms Thanks man!

  • Slow down, your going to crash that piece of shit.

  • @philip21786 You're just jealous that I have this wonderful boat! HAHA

  • geeez i bet she kicks ass a full throttle! GIVE "ER SHIT!

  • I like the idea and you did a good job, but hold the camera STILL, so we can see what you did! No harm ment, just interested in the workings. Thx.

  • @projecthog Yeah I know it's not the best camera work, but I had to do many things at the same time and it was the first trip so I didn't know how the controls reacted and stuff like that

  • would it work more effective if you put a water pump to the shaft instead of a propeller? and used the force of the water to move?

  • @DFungus maybe, I don't know

  • Funny as hell.

  • awesome!!!

  • can't beat a briggs and stratton motor.

  • aint that the truth

  • @withoutanoutboard1 Honda beats it

  • @indigestive nope honda mowers suck had mine two years 5.5 garaged ,everything one day the piece of shit started ran a little died . rebuilt the carb still ran sucky.bought a briggs 6.5 flathead way more power (faster and in foot tall grass it doesn`t skip a beat and starts on first or second pull almost always first . and to my suprise it burn`t way less gas than the OHV Honda .always have a little left over in the tank for washing (it also has a washing system.

  • @indigestive I don't like Honda at all, they're to expencive, made to last only a specified time before everything breaks and they're not as easy to work on as good ol' Briggs!

  • i like it :)

  • Love it.

  • I can smell the grass. LOL

    Thanks for sharing

  • make the exhaust go in the water it would be less noisy

  • then the water would would choke out the engine if it was in the water!!!

  • umm alot of motor have pipe underwater

  • yeah and you loose power that way too!! it would require MORE POWER to push the exuast out under water than above the water!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thats why you got two muffler on an out board

  • ??? learn how to speak english please! I am not under standing your comment very well !!!

  • almost all outboards have the exhaust underwater, if anything, its helping the motor: more backpressure.

  • oh yeah I never thaught of that, but when the engine is not running it can splash in the engine if there is a big enough wave.

  • make a video of it planed out

  • dont move the camera so much

  • is it home made....looks badass

  • wow!8hp...

  • cool mod man

  • wow thats cool!!!!!!

  • i have the same engine but its a 1973 much older but with really low hours

  • thats a great ideaa dude .. love the sound

  • floor it man clean that carb lol i want 2 c a wake lol

  • Cool, I like the sound of that engine and it seems to do well. Hmm, I am real curious as to where you have piped that exaust hehe. And why didn't you gun it! Turn that sucker into a speed boat, scare your friend haha Thanks for sharing

    Peace :)

  • Your boat is just totally cool! Never get rid of it!!

  • Great conversion, not too bad at all from a cast iron block&head side valve plodding engine, interesting video!.

  • Sweet, I've wanted to do something like this, save on gas in the water...Do you know where I can get a Transom shaft-seal, or how to make one?

  • cool boat

  • I have never measured it, but it feels like its going around 18 mph, or 15 nautical knots. It goes a lot faster with the briggs, because it has higher rpms, the old JAP had around 3000 max, but the briggs has around 5500 - 6000 max, but we mostly run it at around 4000 rpm.

  • Thats So Cool !!!!!

Having the engine right in front of you.

    Easy to Tune.

    Spot problems instantly.

Thats the way I would make it.

  • The tranny is original for the boat. It was made for this boat, but i dont knoe who made it.

  • thats awsome! do you guys go fishing in it or anything?

  • Thanks! No we dont use it for fishing, because i dont like fishing so much, but we have tried to fish from it and it was pretty cool!

I mostly use it just for fun, just cruisin around. lol

  • im tryin to get a small boat we just sold our 1966 starcrft 12'. i wanna get a boat like this style, do you know who made it?

  • I have no idea who made it. I think its made here in Norway, and made in the 1950s, but im not sure about it. When i bout it had the original, but broken JAP engine from the 1950s
