Since MMA is growing at such a fast pace, compare the number of headliner from 3 years ago till now, it allows for more chances to advance. Outcome 1: Boxer catches MMA fighter because they stand and trade.
Outcome 2: Boxer knocks MMA fighter down because of superior stand-up and goes in to MMA fighter's guard. Submission win for MMA fighter.

@SkitzQ I believe that these sports do have a connection, not as sports but as fighting tools. And anyone who boxed growing up in order to learn to defend themselves would be just like someone who learned jiu jitsu to do the same or any other type of fighting style.
So in the essence of a sport. Boxing and MMA are different. In the aspect of fighting as self defense, these fighting styles can very well be compared and people choose MMA because it's a more realistic type of fighting style.

@wiqasjaved THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH UFC IS THE SIZE OF THEIR FIGHT GLOVES. AT 4 OUNCES THESE GLOVES OFFER MUCH LESS PADDING AND PROTECTION FOR THE FIGHTERS. THERE IS SIGNIFICANT DANGER OF OF PERMANENT BRAIN DAMAGE TO THESE UFC FIGHTERS. NO ONE IS LOOKING OUT FOR THEIR SAFETY

@gmd1417 wrong fight science have proven its the multiple blows round after round that is so dangerous in boxing. the clean knockouts and shorter fights in mma on the other hand are far less dangerous. dont believe me do a lil research

Personally I find MMA to be more exciting. If a boxer gets taken down on his back in a street fight whats he gonna do put him in a triangle choke and choke the guy on top out with his legs? I am a bike Mike Tyson fan, and Manny Pacquio fan, and the thing is that yeah boxis IS doing it to itself everyone wants to see mayweather and pacquio but its not happening. The UFC tells you who you are fighting if you wanna be considered the best you dont have a say or else your cut from it.

ohh ive known boxers that can street fight and whoop some ass, Joe dont under-estimate the sport.
Now I dont think MMA is taking over boxing, if anything,boxing is killing itself with its corruption, greedy promoters(Arum), and mismatches. Although I agree that MMA is exciting and fun to watch( especially drunk), I will always love boxing for its technical superiority, the dedication that boxers put, and for its legendary match ups

i disagree with joe rogan about boxing being swallowed by MMA. Boxing did it to itself, because of promoters like bob arum who could care less what the fans want to see. Joe rogan says there will be no more DLH or no more hopkins...etc. Well, there is now pacquiao, and many other talent that is making noise in boxing. Khan, martinez, bradley, berto...etc. Boxing is coming back, i dont think MMA will become as huge as boxing, but they can co-exist.
