@nicknight2000 Actually this isn't illegal. The highway code states to "signal when necessary" . New drivers are taught not to signal when moving off because if you have to signal then generally it isn't safe move off. The exception is when there is heavy traffic and you need to ask to be let out. Thought I'd set the record straight as many people liked this comment and must presumably think it is breaking the law.

Part of police work within traffic; is educating the public on road safety - in this case the officer in question obviously works this area a lot - he knows his job well. Issuing a ticket might have provoked him to just do it again, as a "told you I can do it" gesture.

Personally I would of given the ticket if it was in my district because dangerous drivers need to be taken off the road, in any circumstance, under any condition - in my opinion - that's coming from another traffic cop.

as long as the guy learnt his lesson, i dont see a problem with the way the cop spoke to him. he was lucky it was a traffic cop with quick reactions and not a lorry which would've ended in tears. i say thats good policing. and as for the idiot who said he'd of 'dropped' the copper, he should really get a life. hopefully it'll only be yourself you kill when you do have that accident.

Traffic cops are class! They are exempt from any speed law, that's why they drive as fast as they like. There are loads of bad drivers on the road. I wish there were more of them around to educate coz some people need their licenses taken off them

The officer did the right thing. He informed the man about his wreckless behaviour, he gave statistics of people's deaths on British roads because of people driving like he did, and he refused to give the man a ticket. He did the right thing.

If a biker had been going up that bend they'd have been wiped out.
