Uhg, I've done at least 1 month of consumer research across MANY different online retailers, reviews, and forums. And I've settled for this one. What I learned is that EVERY external hdd on the market has someone complaining how it died/ stopped spinning/ ect. Including this one. So I just decided to go for this one purely based on features, price, and popularity. Hope mine lasts.
Do you know if they have a desktop doc that you can plug it into and make it stand up? I can't find it anywhere but in the pictures on the website it looks as if they have one?
So let me get this straight...the only thing you have to do to get this hard drive to work is to plug the USB into the computer? There is not an extra cord that need to plug into an outlet somewhere? ~ :)
Bought this! Love it! But i lost the usb connector to the computer!..... Any idea what that little output that goes into the go flex hard drive, on the usb cord (not the one that goes into the computer) is called? any idea where i could get one!? Please vote up so that he can see this!!!! My hard drive has all my stuff on it!
Thanks for showing me how to remove hardware from a box and take off the plastic wrapping. Very informative. Now I feel like I can get out there and unwrap the world.
i just got a 500gb freeagent goflex hd and i was just wondering. Im a mac user and i figured that if i were to set my hd to mac and pc(ntfs), i wud have to install paragon on every mac i plug my hd on to and i dont think thats pretty convenient. is it possible for me to choose "mac and pc", install paragon, then convert my hd to "mac only" afterwards? That way i wouldnt have to worry about plugging my hd to other macs and at the same time, my computer will be able to read my friends NTFS hardrives
i used this to transfer my old files to my new computer but some of of songs in my itunes couldnt copy all the songs which is gay!!!!! it just tells me file not found everytime i click on a song in my new computer!!! stupid itunes gonna make me waste my money into buying more songs!!!!!!!
Great video. I edit HD video and produce music and I am buying this hard drive, I have a Macbook pro(2006), would you recommend the firewire 800 connection or the eSATA, which is faster?
Yo how can i connect my 3.0 usb go flex cause i dont think i can do i need to have a 3.0 usb port on my pc or wat? am really confused what do i do help. i bought my pc on 2006
@PSTRIPPLEE usb 3.0 works with all usb ports, you just don't get usb 3.0 speed unless you have a usb port. to add one you can get a pci card for your computer or a expresscard for your laptop
Great videos (just discovered your channel) I just had just seen the goflex thing listed on amazon (since I'm looking for an ext' hard drive)- had no idea what it was.
Great summary, looks like a great product, so I'm off to go buy one later.
I just wish they didn't use that Piano Black glossy cover. My FreeAgentGo's need occasional surface cleaning but that is ridiculous. It's also the only reason I don't like PS3's aesthetically.
got mine for 40 buck :)

Hi, Me again. My Macbook Pro has an Expresscard slot, so would usb 3 be the best connection for speed in your opinion?

What is Firewire?
QUAY1E 1 year ago
@QUAY1E data transfer mode which was faster than usb 2.0. Its available in two speeds 400 and 800. Now eSata ( external sata ) has replaced it.

Such an extensive and detailed review but he totally fails to mention the far superior version which is the Go Flex Pro 7200 RPM version.
Which I have, no mention on what size cache buffer but it should be 16MB or 32MB.
Also the eSata version, is just as fast as USB 3.0 and the cable is $20 less.
according to CNET USB 2.0 read/write speeds are in the 29MB to 30MB range. Which is average.
And using USB 3.0 and eSata Read/Write speeds are in the 70MB/sec range. Thats slow for USB 3.0
