  • look at how bored the crowd is ca mon its one of the greatest live bands ever

  • Misleading title. Very disappointed, but the video itself, is still interesting.

  • The Best Live album ever!!

  • Very interesting - thanks for posting this

  • 2:49 nuthin new here ,it's either "Rondo"or "Sabre Dance".

  • the only thing that's "legendary" is the idiots who describe this album...and the unreal drumming of Ian Paice....best drummer ever ....

  • this live album is highest quality, i think

  • ascultandu-i vreau sa invat japoneza!!!

  • I don't agree...... i think Ian P. and Glover were the "pacers" of the band.Blackmore was frequently out in left field somewhere and they would have to draw him back in.To me Blackmore played in spurts, having a hard time getting started. That is clearly evident in the Copenhagan,Den.concert.I prefer mk.2 Purple, evenso Blackmore is not the greatest guit player of all time, in my opinion. But Ian P. is my favorite rock drummer of ALL time, amen.Watch the Denmark gig.......efing awesome.

  • dvd analysis for Made in Japan

I have this and it's not rare

  • @darwinism14 It's rare on YT...

  • @darwinism14 Yeah what a way to reel 'em in.

  • Blackmore is a repressed queer. One sick little faggot.

"Live at Leeds" "Hendrix in the West" even fucking "Slade Alive" are much, much better live albums. "Uriah Heep Live" and "Tinsletown Rebellion" more accurate.

Deep Purple "In Rock" was the last real album they made. Then Blackmore's angst against his own desire to be feminine whilst needing to be masculine for his job , destroyed the band. Twisted ,negative little bastard.

  • @solarflares1058

What a sad cynical comment..so you didn't like..ANYTHING after In Rock....what about his playing on MIJ, all the Rainbow stuff...you just dismiss that because you don't like him?

Also..one of the many reasons Made In Japan is the best Live album EVER, is because it has no overdubs, no twiddling around with the sound...what you hear is what the audience heard ..sheer fucking brilliance !

  • @QueenReigns1 In Rock was the last "real" album. I do like bits of Fireball and Stormbringer and of course most of the Rainbow stuff.

Live albums - well Humble Pie at the Fillmore , Mountain , The James Gang , Zappa's Baby Snakes , there are so many good ones. Made in Japan is in the top 20 for sure and was a big part of my early teens. All the same , it isn't an "easy" album to listen to. Best outdoors on a summer's day with beer ,smoke and friends.

  • @solarflares1058

In the top 20..if you mean at the top I'll agree.

Name me one Live album in the ones you mention that hasn't got overdubs..only Deep Purple were good enough to release a Live album ..as it was recorded.

And if you're talking about REAL albums, what about Burn?

David Coverdale comes from nowhere and produces vocal performances like that..the whole sound of the band changed on one album...if you weren't a Purple fan and you heard it you wouldn't have known who it was.

  • IT'S NOT MADE IN JAPAN !!!!

  • @Romchikthelemon Relax man...It's a documentary about Deep Purple's "Made In Japan". To the best of my knowledge those 3 performances in Osaka and Tokyo were never filmed...too bad......

  • Made in Japan Maiden Japan.

    Thank you Martin Birch!

  • @rctsos or Mad in Huddersfield, lOl

Perhaps you meant 'made' after all ;-)

  • 5:05 - 5:17 CHILLS. Paice is the man.

  • you fake, fucker

  • this is NOT made in japan version of highway star!!!!!!!!

  • Deep Purple were in a class all by themselves. Controlled KAOS at it's best !!

  • @rctsos :-)

  • 2:58 - epic :)

  • This DVD simply tells the story of MIJ/ it's NOT MIJ footage

  • Yes DP is the life! I made a movie with music from the album. cool happened. as if they were all specially made. Wow!

  • actually there's no footage of Made In Japan available, I've seen this DVD sold as "Deep Purple: Made In Japan" many times, but there's no such thing as original comercial footage of that concert in particular, maybe the guys of Deep do have some video of that gig, I think the real place where this footage was taken from is alive at Denmark

  • Ummmm ... the video is from BEAT CLUB in '72, in Holland. Get a grip.

  • There's some 23 years since listening. It absolutely never gets old. There won't be anything to match Lazy.

  • great dvd but none of the video is from the actual shows in Japan. Most of it is from Copenhagan. some from UK. Full footage on masters from the vault and the archive collection live in concert 72/73

  • Blackmoore is a pilgrim

  • @5:17 Ritchie Is SOOOOO BADASSS LOOK AT Him one time he smashed his machine head into a camera

  • ISNT MIJ! MIJ is the best!

  • There where 3 concerts in Japan, and Made in Japan record is made from those 3 concerts!

  • Pompous puds giving flatulent comentary! What a waste of good air.

  • Hey, this is from DVD "Masters of Vaults", this perfomance during European tour. It was INCREDIBLE!!

  • during the 70's 4 UK super groups deep purple ,black sabbath led zeppelin and the who is like a horse race ,racing each other who is great.. ...for me all of them are great bands

  • @slazzer145 don t forget queen and jethro tull

  • @jethroqueen jethro tull yes ,,,Queen no I hate faggots...

  • @slazzer145 you judge sexual condition or music?i remember you that ones of the icons metal rob halford is gay and im not gay i just hear his music and is wonderful.greetings from argentina.long live rock n roll

  • I LOVE THEM!!!

  • This vid is not from MIJ, I still have the 2 disc set in my collection and I can't lie the way Ian sings this song its not really is....it's totally different, sorry!

  • benchmat your thought is correct... but this DVD calls Deep Purple's Made In Japan! Ciao

  • @vanhalter

no, it doesn't. This footage is from 2 years earlier.

  • @benchmat

you re ok, this album is not the MIJ , I HAVE THE 2 VINIL DISC TOO, I M A PERUVIAN AND FOR ME DEEP PURPLE IS THE BIGGEST BAND THE ALL THE TIMES

  • @benchmat is ian gillan the singer man he is in this video very drunk

  • @maxytaxy Yes it is Gillian....the Mrk II singer of DP

  • @benchmat

There was many concerts in japan during 1972, (osaka, tokio, kioto etc...) and the selected peaces for the album were differents as concerts..

  • The greatest live album ever.

  • may be

  • Made in Japan in my opinion is the best heavy metal rock album ever made , Ritchie Blackmore probably the best rock guitarist : if you don t agree.. plz listen to [ strange kind of woman] his guitar is incredible ,also many others copy from him

  • @pauloisidoro2 Correction Jimi Hendrix was GOD of the Guitar and everybody cppied hendrix including Ritchie Blackmore. \m/ Hendrix Forevery!

  • I own the album :)

  • I saw them back in 72 in Fyns Forum DK and am looking forward to see them again in Mølleparken Sønderborg DK in June

  • Thanks for posting this, my fourth time watching and still love it.

  • They'll never be the same with Steve Morse. Long-live Richie Blackmore!

  • hello from "an old" purple fan since 1970.

    (I'm 51)....

  • The best rock live album ever.

  • MIJ is one of my favorite live albums. It really sucks there is no actual live footage of Japan '72.

Maybe if they had been as cute as the Runaways they would have had their own TV special and we'd have tons of YouTube vids! LOL

  • He logrado ver algunos segundos del ieédito Made in Japan, están en el DVD History, Hits & Lights de junio último. Son como 70 segundos

  • Made in Japan is the altimate DP album I think....

  • sad that there's no translation in french.

  • The 21st anniversay issue of Made in Japan came out in 93'. A great collector's issue. All three shows are on this release.

According to the liner notes for that set, unlike many live albums, there are no overdubs or studio additions to the original album. Great live collection.

  • Check out Ritchie's sideboards at 3:07. You beauties!

  • This is misleading. They're talking about the MIJ album but the music isn't from the album. Highway Star here isn't very good but on MIJ it's brilliant. If you're not sure, my little cream pies, go and get the album because the music here is, frankly, ghastly in comparrison.

  • By the time this was recorded, they havent made Machine Head, so, this Highway Star version was an "embryo" of what we all know and love.

Besides, Ian was drunk in this performance... Have you seen de rest of the show?

And yes, MIJ was superb, its a shame that the are no video of that, apart from 30 seconds or so.

  • Greatest live album of all time. Do yourself a favour & have a listen, live album sounds better than anything recorded in the studio. Quite unique & rare.

  • 8 years ago when i was 15, i found this album on vinyl in my dad's record collection, and popped it in and smoked a bowl. that night changed my life.

  • No one who has heard/seen Deep Purple kick off a show with Highway Star will ever forget it!

  • You are a very expert!

  • @sillydillydokieo That's the power of rock!

  • @sillydillydokieo cant wait to play my vinyl copy i got just need a turn table

  • @sillydillydokieo i had exactly the same experience

  • @pieterm2001 Hei U2 have a cigarette papers? ahaha

  • hats in a rock band = bald heads

    LOL

  • THE BEST CD made in japan

    the best concert

  • Anyone who says they have footage from Purple's Made In Japan tour, is lying...there is NO footage...nothing was filmed from those concerts.

    Sad but true !

  • There is footage, about 26 minutes or so and it will get released sometime in the future. There is 90 seconds of Highway Star on latest History DVD set.

  • I don't know where you got that from, but in the Deep Purple Biography..Smoke On The Water, it is stated that no part of any of the 3 concerts was filmed.

  • Have a look on the Highway Star website and watch the latest History DVD, there is a 90 second snippet of Highway Star from the tour which produced Made in Japan. This is fact.

  • I was there homeported in Yokouska, the venue was the Budakan Palace. Smoke on the Water caused a riot, the Japanese, went nuts

  • quite remakable for that time?!

just recently i tauld a young girl,16 year old, who likes hard rock -metalica, guns and roses and so on, i tauld her find the album made in japan by deep puprle. She was at the seven haven when she heard the album. She couldnt stop asking me all those questions about deep purple

  • Rock gods in full swing...

  • made in japan is the best live

  • yeah!!!!!

  • See the clip "Bec Blau", DP versions...

  • Ritchie Blackmore And More's

  • The best ever group, the best ever live concert, and of course if anybody ever wonders if there's God and who he is - that's BLACKMORE!!!

  • haha yes. best guitarist ever

  • Me think that you think wrong. Me disagree that he destroy every DP concert after 84. I don't believe everthing that is written in black & white fabricated by money seeking dickheads running the DP show. I don't blame Ritchie for leaving and am extremely happy that he did. DP is doing fine without him.

  • This is the best live album ever!!!! No one compares...and here is the legendary line up of DP...

  • Dommage on entend rien, tres mauvais reportage

  • This album is pure magic!

  • I hope when I play live that

I have an experience to give away, to give a amazing feeling to everyone, that' what you need to be a great live band... Bands I see play on the talent show, I don't know why, I just felt like going away... They didn't made me feel special... That's what Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin did with their experience, they not only made them sound and feel special, they made YOU feel special, or else why would you watch it! Because it's amazing, gives you a special feeling.

  • It does not get any better than Deep Purple.

  • vivai deep purple

  • Glad someone uploaded this so I could watch it. I'm not wasting my money on "rock review" dvds. They rip off the band name and fans, promising "extremly rare and unseen footage" etc. which is nearly all cases, is not true.

  • deep purple and cream the best!!!!

  • I wore that album ... and 8 track .. out !

  • Made in Japan is Deep Purple's very best. That version of Space Truckin' is the best song ever. When I was 13, ('73) I used to get so stoned and blast this album over and over again. Fuck ya.

  • why is there a clip from 1971 playing in the background?

  • Lol! Ritchie Blackmore would do the middle finger to Jon to make him play... LOL! Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, the 2 greatest bands to see improvise, although, when Jimmy Page strted taking heroin around 1975 and after, he ruined the live experience of Led Zeppelin and was pretty sloppy because of that drug, he should have know better... Ritchie stayed away, but I'm sure he was curious, but he was smart enough to back off. Before 1975, Dazed And Confused was around 20 mins long while live! LOL!

  • ma quando avevo 12 anni! erano proibiti!

  • Che cosa erano proibiti?

  • No,no,no.... Ritchie Blackmore never smoked or used any drugs.. no one in Deep Purple Mark2 used drugs...

  • No one should use drugs! It was stupid for Jimmy Page to take heroin while in Led Zeppelin, completely ruin the Led Zeppelin live experience! They improvised! But since he started around 1975 and after he stopped improvised and became kinda sloppy! Before at early Led Zeppelin live, they used to be great!

  • Youre being FACETIOUS right? At the very least everyone smoked WEED- that was a given.Probably some COKE at some point, though back then (early 70's) COKE was very expensive even for popular musicians.

  • Whoa! Ian Gillan did smoked pot...

  • does anyone know where those Blackmore interview excerpts are coming from?

  • He had a good rig then...A Mojo Marshall that had a decent tone even when you used your shoe to chord the guitar. I suppose the very good drugs of the time also sparked the performance...Ah... long for the good ol days of windowpane and other good life reflective drugs....we need them now more than ever than the violence inducing ones we have now. Daily quality of life in the states really suck now.

  • Marshall Major 200 watts of madness... ;-)

The guy prattling on at abt 3:35 is on the money, they were a brilliant improvisational band, everyone listening to everyone else. But the drugs probably did help....

And no, the MIJ shows were not filmed, more's the pity.

    Still a f*ckin' awesome album.

    Steve

  • Actually 278 Watts He had his technician do something do it to make it sound more like his favourite Vox amp I can't remembered where I watched it somewhere on youtube but whatever he did it gave him another 78 watts!

  • Deep Purple MkII... on drugs???

Now, that would have adden another dimension to "Space truckin'"!

Dovregubben13 above comments right: "no one in Deep Purple Mark2 used drugs... "

Maybe Ritchie and some red wine... AFTER the concert.

  • red wine and/or wisky ....!

In MKIV and probably MKIII some members used drugs (Bolin...)

  • Hughes and Bolin were high on anything!!

  • this video isn't made in Japan, this is made in Germany

  • That's because they didn't film the Japan concerts so there is no footage.

  • is made in japan on video at all cuz i hate this documentary's they interfere with the music

  • be true but the video is interesting!

  • No, Made in Japan is not available on video. The concert was only recorded with audio; no video recording exists.

  • actually, they recently found some super 8 film footage of the concert. last i heard theyve synced up a bit of it but won't be able to do so with most of the material since it is very choppy or something. i think they'll be putting out what they could sync up (a minute and a half of it on one song) in an upcoming dvd. fyi.

  • Hey I bought this dvd, thinking that was made in japan concert footage, hahahaha I spent about $ 15,sucks this dvd is only talking about MIJ and no concert footage

  • I am with you!But i haven't spent $ 15 dollar.

  • so how much???

  • it is a gift of a friend!

  • I love that blackmore is somewhat of a mystery man..you can never know what he is thinking! and of course he is the greatest guitarist there ever has been

  • This is the best band ever. I seen the classic setting three times and will never forget it.

  • Just to follow up, and sorry for rambling here.. but that version of "Highway Star" that's playing through a lot of the vid is NOT from MIJ! For younger DP fans, MAKE sure that you have the TRUE "Made in Japan" in your collection! Those particular live recordings were and still is just "IT" for me!!

    Rock on friends!!

  • I know that it is not the true tape of Made in Japan, but the DVD is entitled MIJ. Have a good weekend!

  • good, except those live videos are not from MIJ ;)

  • What is RARE in this video? Sells on every corner. There is no any small part from Live In Japan. I hate such DVDs. Journalists make money on nothing. Who cares about their opinion? Please delete it.

  • The video is rare on "youtube", I have not found him yet..

  • Nice way of misleading people with that title...

I know better than believing anything I see in YouTube -moreover when I know there's no existing footage of the 1972 Japan tour but...what's the point, really?

Your next video could be "Lost footage of Machine Head Studio Sessions".

  • Hei Max, I have put only on youyube the video dvd that i have purchased in USA, i have not misleading anybody! The DVD is entitled Made in japan, for this self I have called the video "MIJ"

  • is the best

  • can someone please post made in japan,, space truckin, the whole nearly 20 minutes,, please, let me know,, hurry,,

  • buy the cd its the best

  • And Deep Purple gets money from it

  • it does not exist. the closest version recorded on tape is the denmark show. the dvd can be found in any music store. to bad. they never had the cameras rolling for the japan shows.

  • Yep, none of this has anything to do with MIJ other than the cover pics and the interviews talking about the REAL MIJ!! Don't get me wrong!! I love all Deep Purple, but "Made in Japan" was just so fucking good... A 2 album set with only 7 songs if memory serves me correct. I used to listen to it sooo much that I STILL rmbr that "Space Truckin'" was 20 Minutes and 2 seconds long.

  • love the album one of the best live albums

  • I have the CD and more important the vinyl (since 30 years)...does anyone know whether a Live in Japan DVD is available ?

  • Ooooh... remember the first time i'v heard "Made in Japan". Magic...

  • A very good video, thanks for sharing this one walter :)

  • great video, very good
