I don't agree...... i think Ian P. and Glover were the "pacers" of the band.Blackmore was frequently out in left field somewhere and they would have to draw him back in.To me Blackmore played in spurts, having a hard time getting started. That is clearly evident in the Copenhagan,Den.concert.I prefer mk.2 Purple, evenso Blackmore is not the greatest guit player of all time, in my opinion. But Ian P. is my favorite rock drummer of ALL time, amen.Watch the Denmark gig.......efing awesome.
Blackmore is a repressed queer. One sick little faggot.
"Live at Leeds" "Hendrix in the West" even fucking "Slade Alive" are much, much better live albums. "Uriah Heep Live" and "Tinsletown Rebellion" more accurate.
Deep Purple "In Rock" was the last real album they made. Then Blackmore's angst against his own desire to be feminine whilst needing to be masculine for his job , destroyed the band. Twisted ,negative little bastard.
What a sad cynical comment..so you didn't like..ANYTHING after In Rock....what about his playing on MIJ, all the Rainbow stuff...you just dismiss that because you don't like him?
Also..one of the many reasons Made In Japan is the best Live album EVER, is because it has no overdubs, no twiddling around with the sound...what you hear is what the audience heard ..sheer fucking brilliance !
@QueenReigns1 In Rock was the last "real" album. I do like bits of Fireball and Stormbringer and of course most of the Rainbow stuff.
Live albums - well Humble Pie at the Fillmore , Mountain , The James Gang , Zappa's Baby Snakes , there are so many good ones. Made in Japan is in the top 20 for sure and was a big part of my early teens. All the same , it isn't an "easy" album to listen to. Best outdoors on a summer's day with beer ,smoke and friends.
Name me one Live album in the ones you mention that hasn't got overdubs..only Deep Purple were good enough to release a Live album ..as it was recorded.
And if you're talking about REAL albums, what about Burn?
David Coverdale comes from nowhere and produces vocal performances like that..the whole sound of the band changed on one album...if you weren't a Purple fan and you heard it you wouldn't have known who it was.
@Romchikthelemon Relax man...It's a documentary about Deep Purple's "Made In Japan". To the best of my knowledge those 3 performances in Osaka and Tokyo were never filmed...too bad......
actually there's no footage of Made In Japan available, I've seen this DVD sold as "Deep Purple: Made In Japan" many times, but there's no such thing as original comercial footage of that concert in particular, maybe the guys of Deep do have some video of that gig, I think the real place where this footage was taken from is alive at Denmark
great dvd but none of the video is from the actual shows in Japan. Most of it is from Copenhagan. some from UK. Full footage on masters from the vault and the archive collection live in concert 72/73
during the 70's 4 UK super groups deep purple ,black sabbath led zeppelin and the who is like a horse race ,racing each other who is great.. ...for me all of them are great bands
@slazzer145 you judge sexual condition or music?i remember you that ones of the icons metal rob halford is gay and im not gay i just hear his music and is wonderful.greetings from argentina.long live rock n roll
This vid is not from MIJ, I still have the 2 disc set in my collection and I can't lie the way Ian sings this song its not really is....it's totally different, sorry!
Made in Japan in my opinion is the best heavy metal rock album ever made , Ritchie Blackmore probably the best rock guitarist : if you don t agree.. plz listen to [ strange kind of woman] his guitar is incredible ,also many others copy from him
The 21st anniversay issue of Made in Japan came out in 93'. A great collector's issue. All three shows are on this release.
According to the liner notes for that set, unlike many live albums, there are no overdubs or studio additions to the original album. Great live collection.
This is misleading. They're talking about the MIJ album but the music isn't from the album. Highway Star here isn't very good but on MIJ it's brilliant. If you're not sure, my little cream pies, go and get the album because the music here is, frankly, ghastly in comparrison.
Greatest live album of all time. Do yourself a favour & have a listen, live album sounds better than anything recorded in the studio. Quite unique & rare.
There is footage, about 26 minutes or so and it will get released sometime in the future. There is 90 seconds of Highway Star on latest History DVD set.
I don't know where you got that from, but in the Deep Purple Biography..Smoke On The Water, it is stated that no part of any of the 3 concerts was filmed.
Have a look on the Highway Star website and watch the latest History DVD, there is a 90 second snippet of Highway Star from the tour which produced Made in Japan. This is fact.
just recently i tauld a young girl,16 year old, who likes hard rock -metalica, guns and roses and so on, i tauld her find the album made in japan by deep puprle. She was at the seven haven when she heard the album. She couldnt stop asking me all those questions about deep purple
Me think that you think wrong. Me disagree that he destroy every DP concert after 84. I don't believe everthing that is written in black & white fabricated by money seeking dickheads running the DP show. I don't blame Ritchie for leaving and am extremely happy that he did. DP is doing fine without him.
I have an experience to give away, to give a amazing feeling to everyone, that' what you need to be a great live band... Bands I see play on the talent show, I don't know why, I just felt like going away... They didn't made me feel special... That's what Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin did with their experience, they not only made them sound and feel special, they made YOU feel special, or else why would you watch it! Because it's amazing, gives you a special feeling.
Glad someone uploaded this so I could watch it. I'm not wasting my money on "rock review" dvds. They rip off the band name and fans, promising "extremly rare and unseen footage" etc. which is nearly all cases, is not true.
Made in Japan is Deep Purple's very best. That version of Space Truckin' is the best song ever. When I was 13, ('73) I used to get so stoned and blast this album over and over again. Fuck ya.
Lol! Ritchie Blackmore would do the middle finger to Jon to make him play... LOL! Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, the 2 greatest bands to see improvise, although, when Jimmy Page strted taking heroin around 1975 and after, he ruined the live experience of Led Zeppelin and was pretty sloppy because of that drug, he should have know better... Ritchie stayed away, but I'm sure he was curious, but he was smart enough to back off. Before 1975, Dazed And Confused was around 20 mins long while live! LOL!
No one should use drugs! It was stupid for Jimmy Page to take heroin while in Led Zeppelin, completely ruin the Led Zeppelin live experience! They improvised! But since he started around 1975 and after he stopped improvised and became kinda sloppy! Before at early Led Zeppelin live, they used to be great!
Youre being FACETIOUS right? At the very least everyone smoked WEED- that was a given.Probably some COKE at some point, though back then (early 70's) COKE was very expensive even for popular musicians.
He had a good rig then...A Mojo Marshall that had a decent tone even when you used your shoe to chord the guitar. I suppose the very good drugs of the time also sparked the performance...Ah... long for the good ol days of windowpane and other good life reflective drugs....we need them now more than ever than the violence inducing ones we have now. Daily quality of life in the states really suck now.
The guy prattling on at abt 3:35 is on the money, they were a brilliant improvisational band, everyone listening to everyone else. But the drugs probably did help....
And no, the MIJ shows were not filmed, more's the pity.
Actually 278 Watts He had his technician do something do it to make it sound more like his favourite Vox amp I can't remembered where I watched it somewhere on youtube but whatever he did it gave him another 78 watts!
actually, they recently found some super 8 film footage of the concert. last i heard theyve synced up a bit of it but won't be able to do so with most of the material since it is very choppy or something. i think they'll be putting out what they could sync up (a minute and a half of it on one song) in an upcoming dvd. fyi.
Hey I bought this dvd, thinking that was made in japan concert footage, hahahaha I spent about $ 15,sucks this dvd is only talking about MIJ and no concert footage
I love that blackmore is somewhat of a mystery man..you can never know what he is thinking! and of course he is the greatest guitarist there ever has been
Just to follow up, and sorry for rambling here.. but that version of "Highway Star" that's playing through a lot of the vid is NOT from MIJ! For younger DP fans, MAKE sure that you have the TRUE "Made in Japan" in your collection! Those particular live recordings were and still is just "IT" for me!!
What is RARE in this video? Sells on every corner. There is no any small part from Live In Japan. I hate such DVDs. Journalists make money on nothing. Who cares about their opinion? Please delete it.
I know better than believing anything I see in YouTube -moreover when I know there's no existing footage of the 1972 Japan tour but...what's the point, really?
Your next video could be "Lost footage of Machine Head Studio Sessions".
Hei Max, I have put only on youyube the video dvd that i have purchased in USA, i have not misleading anybody! The DVD is entitled Made in japan, for this self I have called the video "MIJ"
it does not exist. the closest version recorded on tape is the denmark show. the dvd can be found in any music store. to bad. they never had the cameras rolling for the japan shows.
Yep, none of this has anything to do with MIJ other than the cover pics and the interviews talking about the REAL MIJ!! Don't get me wrong!! I love all Deep Purple, but "Made in Japan" was just so fucking good... A 2 album set with only 7 songs if memory serves me correct. I used to listen to it sooo much that I STILL rmbr that "Space Truckin'" was 20 Minutes and 2 seconds long.
look at how bored the crowd is ca mon its one of the greatest live bands ever

This is the best band ever. I seen the classic setting three times and will never forget it.

Rock on friends!!

I know that it is not the true tape of Made in Japan, but the DVD is entitled MIJ. Have a good weekend!

What is RARE in this video? Sells on every corner. There is no any small part from Live In Japan. I hate such DVDs. Journalists make money on nothing. Who cares about their opinion? Please delete it.

The video is rare on "youtube", I have not found him yet..

Nice way of misleading people with that title...
I know better than believing anything I see in YouTube -moreover when I know there's no existing footage of the 1972 Japan tour but...what's the point, really?
Your next video could be "Lost footage of Machine Head Studio Sessions".

it does not exist. the closest version recorded on tape is the denmark show. the dvd can be found in any music store. to bad. they never had the cameras rolling for the japan shows.
