This is how the song and video was pitched originally...they pitched it slower on the cd and the quality sucks..it isn't sourced from the original tapes either...
I wonder if Genesis would sound like this if Peter Gabriel were still with the band; Only God would know the answer to that. Oh well, at least this tune isn't bad; That's what counts, right?
@twistedwish20 Are everyone aware that Genisis were going to pack it in when Gabrial left the band for a desire to be a "solo" artist so know-one could tell him what to write or sing about, They were so sick of trying out replacement singers so when one of the band members suggested Phil try to sing and if it failed then it would be the end with no hard feelings and lucky for us he sounded as good and with all the same pitches too. We almost lost them had Phil not fit the slot.
@cottonfever1221 I found out watching a documentary about Phil replacing Gabriel. Sounds the same somewhat. Before watching it didin't even know Gabriel was with Genesis.
@apadilla014 I became a Genisis fan later on in life and had it not have been for my future brother in-law I dont think I would have "gotten in to them"ever. Being a drummer(1980-2010 or so)I really did'nt think much of his style of playing but when I switched over to bass(2002) I viewed him from a diff perspective which then allowed me to see how talented he was. Even Elton John almost never was,he and a buddy wrote music but could'nt find anyone to sing it,Elton sang it and the rest is.?
@MrPhil46 I can tell you didn't change it. But maybe it was for commercial purposes, like people prefered it in a higher pitch... at least that's what most teenagers, excluding me, like. :P
@MrPhil46 I actually checked both with a guitar tuner and, yup, they're both in the exact same key, same pitch... not a differen-OMG FOR THE LOVE OF FSM WTF IS WRONG WITH ME IT'S SATURDAY SHOULDN'T I BE TAKING MY DOG TO THE PARK?? O_O
@EtemTatar Even back to when it was brand new, the "Misunderstanding" video always did have a slightly faster or higher pitch than the recording, so did a few other videos from that time when MTV began (this was a year sooner). Top 40 stations always sped up a record slightly to give it a faster beat and to keep the traffic of hits flowing to meet time demands. Don't know if that explains what happened here, but it sounds that way. I love this in ANY speed!
@EtemTatar Haaaa!!! I appreciate that, but I'm someone that you'll never find in a genius classroom! I really don't know why the tempo was a bit faster, but it seems different from the actual version. My favorite disc jockey of all time is Dan Ingram on the legendary WABC in New York...he pretty much blew the whistle on the tricks that hit radio stations would do to fit all their promos & commercials while also giving the songs a livelier rhythm. Dan was a REAL genius!
Epic song and vid...it must be a misunderstanding...lol

@Morality124 That'd make sense. My DVD of Genesis music videos is PAL and it sounds the same.
