@Minikrokus You are right, it is strange. The reason for its strangeness is that this is a folk group dancing the classical version of the national dance of the muzur/Mazurka. This particular Mazur is from Moniuszko's Opera Halka or the haunted Manor. It also doesn't help that you have an all girl dancing group without any male partners. If you go to the youtube clip entitled 'Porządki Marszałka Piłsudskiego', you will see an example of how it is really done.
