Tom Napper plays Irish music on the Deering "Boston" Banjo

I was there for this event. I felt at the time that Tom was out of sorts and not at his best at all. It seemed that the Deering Boston was cramping his style in some way and although it was a million times better than I could do it was not somehow great.

[ps I love Deering Boston banjos but for Tom's playing, to get the best out of it, he needs to be playing his favourite banjo. An analogy might be Nigel Kennedy performing on a good student violin. Of course it will be great but not perfect

I have known Tom for years although we don't meet that much nowadays. Absolutely top musician and a great bloke.
