@rextolen Haha, just mount a camera an post it here. How hard can it be?
Yeah, STS is a new car. This is a Corvette from 1972.
And btw, after this was taken, we have improved driving skills (as this was one of the first times we ever drove on track), suspesion (Coilovers front and rear) New tires (Michelin Pilot Sport), Differential, steering +++
You are welcome to come to Norway and race, i would like to see you win.
@CorvetteMichael Ah, so you took my advice and got some lessons!! verrry good! LOL. Btw I am in my 60's now. My boss (wife) won't let me play any more. boohoo!
i found a junk C3 Corvette thats been sitting for 3 years. picked it up from the previous owner for no cost and now i need to restore it. any advice? it won't turn over and since one tire has been flat i don't know if the wheels are still true
Unfortunately I can't. The only thing I was picking at was the hand placements on the wheel. Simple things like that can make a lot of difference, rather than driving with a single hand centered.
I apologise for being quite vague with my other comment.
@LukeKrux The hand placements, yes they are not "Correct".
I can make another movie this year, both the car and the driver is verry improved since this film was taken :) Then you wil se that the Driver, Can, Drive.
I have a 1979 corvette that I race at Mosport. I can take corners sooo much faster than you! You need to beef up your tires and suspension! You've got way more power than me though!
I run P255/60R15 in the front and P295/50R15 on the back. I use Firestone Firehawk INDY 500 street tires and a pile of suspension work.
The tires we had on then was verry bad! the new tires are MUTCH MUTCH better :p The suspension is a litle bit soft here yes, but that is beacause the car is used like a everyday normal car to, and then its not suposed to be hard as a rock to drive with.. we wil also fix all the understeer to the winter, when we get a sway bar in the rear to + some rills in the body in front :)
yes, street tires :) cant remember wich brand.. we are now running Michelin pilot sport and they have a littlebit more grip :D + they produce much tiresmoke :P
I see OVER STEER. Not understeer! If you were understeering you'd hear the tires screached very loudly on every turn! With C2/C3 vettes to get them more controlable on turn it's best to have smaller tires on front. With the amount of power you have you need 345s or bigger on the back. You can get those in street tires but you'll need new trailing arms and rear fenders. These cars are WAY easier to drive when you have more traction in the rear than in front.
The only reason you see oversteering here is because we have full throttle out of the corners.. Its quite normal to get some oversteering then :)
The car does in fact UNDERSTEER! Thats because we have a sway bar in the front but not in the back and a hood who doesn't let the air out.. We are not finnished yet you see, just wait until we are , by now we follow MODIFIED C5 Z06's on the track :D
guy needs driving lessons.
