I mentioned this on the most recent GW video with John doing the stuff from the new album. But I have to say that this is the JP that I love. Not overly jacked and steroid lookin. Muscular but not so much that it's like he'd break the guitar by picking it up lol. I figured everyone is commenting about his playing so I'd change it up to how ridiculous he looks now compared to how he looked in this video.

I do agree with you when you say that those guys have style, and so do the other guitar players that I listed. You should listen to Mike Stern, he's a really good fusion guitarist. he does alot of 1and1/2 step bends so they're probably nines. but you probably shouldn't trust it, he could bend 1,000,000,000 gauge strings up to an octave that has a frequency too high for a dog to hear. and thats from the 1st fret of the low e string

I've never been a fan of Petrucci, really. He writes some sweet stuff, but I've always found him to be a little too proggy. I saw him once on the G3 tour, too. The second example is totally a rip of Flying in a Blue Dream, too.

I just thing other players like Loomis and C. Amott are more fun to watch and listen to.

I'm not sure if he's "more original", but something I really noticed on their G3 jams with Vai was that both Satch and Vai tend to resort a lot to "tricks", noises and general speedy wankery while JP always has actual melodies or licks when he plays. He barely uses the trem or any pedals in his solo music, it's all just melodies and harmony. You can sing along to his songs and solos, whereas with Satch and Vai there's a "theme" that's singable and the rest is impossible to sing along to.
