so awesome, I wish someone would make a pro album with all these songs like korobusha and podmoskovski veceri etc etc. You are awesome man great playing
Ahh, you are so great! And such good taste in music! I'm not Russian at all, but I've always been enchanted by the music... I know a few myself. This arrangement is impressive. Thank you for your performances, they will be my guide when I go to learn them. :) ~eve
im confused about the tuning, you have listed just starndard tuning but backwards? is this correct starting with the fattest trsing is the tuning E A D G B e????? its a little uncear
Great 5 stars! I love russian pieces, they come up with the greatest classical pieces. Where do you find music like this, im a classical/flamenco player and i have gotten bored with my selections of music. Love to have stuff like this if possible or anybook you can refer me to . Thnx
a better microphone or replaycing a pick-up (contact microphone) with a good acoustic one? You will get more natural guitar sound. But this is a matter of taste, you see. To my taste, having a good guitar requirtes a good microphone and overall audio performance of the camera. I think with a good Shure microphone your guitar would sound great. Thanks again for posting.
thank you for coming straight to Australia to share with us the Russian culture. i am happy to see somebody does that, even if it is not a native Russian,or Moldavian,or however.
ha easy arrangement! I just started playing russian style guitar on my 6 string and I would like to get a 7 string. I have to say thats deffinatly alot better than i can play i have to say.
you are very very talented and good! thank you! and wish you well..many greetings from an Ukrainian woman living in Czech Republic. If you could, show us more and more...it ´s so amazing to meet people from different cultures!Natali
Beautiful melody. Thank you for sharing! I love all cultures. It is too bad people don't share the same view and seem to be afraid of getting to know other cultures and seem to want to stick only to what they know. If we took the time to understand each other better, this world would be a happier place to live. Peace to all!
Hopefully I'll play as well as you after I take up classical guitar this spring. Im almost to the yngwie level with electric so that should meake it easier. anyway beutiful playng man, It really moved me.
I know this song as "Mardjendja", Mardjendja being a girl's name. Somewhere, I have the lyrics in rrom, on an album by Swedish gypsy singer Hans Caldaras who was a good friend of mine when I was living in Stockholm.
I was right the first time - the roma verb for dance is khelel (hence khelipen), and the roma word for (wooden) stick is rovli, hence rovliako. Rovliako khelipen means "stick dance". :)
ahh ok. so what is mar? is it a different roma dialect? because i have several recordings of gypsy singers, and guitarists too, and in transliteration seems to usually mean "dance gypsy girl" or similar.

this one is just standard 6 string tuning.

Sorry, I commented on the wrong post. What is the tuning on the 7 string? Is the "extra" string usually tuned to a low D?

Vierotchka 4 years ago
yes Djendja, or dzhandia, is the girl. Mar apparently means Dance in roma language. in russian it is also translated to be called "Tantsui Devushka"
kpcart 4 years ago
I seem to remember that the word "dance" in roma is "khelipen", not "mar" - I could be wrong.
Vierotchka 4 years ago
My bad - the roma word for dance is "rovliako", khelipen is the word for stick (like a wooden stick).
Vierotchka 4 years ago
I was right the first time - the roma verb for dance is khelel (hence khelipen), and the roma word for (wooden) stick is rovli, hence rovliako. Rovliako khelipen means "stick dance". :)

I know what problem with russian translation .
Because i found in different russian sites different name of this. In one was "Mar Dyandya" ( dance, girl) , and in another "Mardyandya" , one word.
But I really dont know who is right ! :)
romford25 4 years ago
cosht also means stick in romani
